LOL, I remember when they used to air this commercial on UPN. Very catchy jingle. I played this to my group during my advertising class and they all agreed!
This add instantly puts me back in my parents house as a boy. It also makes me think of the price is right, because it played during the price is right. If you grew up in a house without cable, price is right was mandatory tv. It was the only decent hour of television pretty much all day during summer break. It’s Funny how much this commercial fills me with happy memories, but the actual product is not something I’d buy. Smells too much like an elderly man, and is not a smell that any normal person likes.
ImThatGuyYouWishYouWere I was in 6th grade when I saw this too, I think it was the first part of 2005. I was 12 at the time and after school the bus would drop me off at my mom's parents' house until either my mom or dad got off work and whoever got off first picked me up. Well I had a routine, I watched World's Wildest Police Videos on Spike TV from 5pm-6pm and this commercial came on there sometimes. The jingle stuck in my head and I would always look forward to seeing this commercial. It was because of that jingle! "Start the day with a SPLASH! Bring on the blue!" I would go around saying Aqua Velva this, Aqua Velva that. I didn't just say it randomly, but I did say Aqua Velva a lot and had several dreams with Aqua Velva in them, including one where this song played. I have Asperger's syndrome and tend to get these focused interests. Even though I didn't exactly know what Aqua Velva was, I found out then got my parents to buy me some. I think I was just fascinated by this commercial because I only used the Aqua Velva for a few days. My obsession with Aqua Velva (well, the ad) died out after a couple months. I'm 22 and don't get obsessed with commercials now but I still recognize a catchy tune when I hear it and this ad has one of the catchiest tunes I've ever heard in a commercial. This ad holds a great deal of nostalgia to me, and I still enjoy it. June 26, 2015 11:05 am
