Hi all, Today I was lucky enough to receive another Aquael Ultra Heater. I have used my first one for years now and found it to be super reliable, easy to use and has some functions that I really love, albeit at a price. Hopefully you like this video and thanks to nanotanksaustralia.com.au/ for supplying me with this heater.
I have used this brand in all my aquariums, I have a 655ltr and I use the 500w Inline heater, it is a fabulous piece of kit. This gives me no cold spots in the water. As the heater is below the tank I don’t even need to switch it off during the water change. I to would recommend this brand for me they are one of the best about. Love your reviews by the way.
I always enjoy your honest review of products!! I really like the design of this heater 💪 thank you for sharing what and I hope you and your family are doing well my friend!!🙏🌿🐟🌿💚
Only heaters I’ve had failure r ehiem was very disappointed. Cheap eBay one I’ve us d for years never failed me . These look great little heater. I love these type heaters I’ve had glass heaters burn rays in the past
Hello. As this thermostat is different from the others, which are placed next to the filter so that the warmer water circulates throughout the aquarium, is it also necessary to place this one next to the filter for hot water circulation, or is it not necessary? I have bought one of this. Thanks in advance
Sadly, I have had 2 of these 150w heaters explode in my reef tank sump,, 1 exploded and a month later the 2nd. Lasted around 14 months which is quite poor for a premium heater. Never again for me, you can now get titanium schego heater here in Melbourne, so I have replaced these duds with them. And luckily I was using a inkbird controller, I wonder if they would have cooked my tank otherwise. Once bitten.
@@BlakesAquatics - I was near the tank and heard a “bang” - opened the door to the cabinet and could smell the dreaded electrical burn smell. I unplugged the heaters and pulled both out - 1 was fine, the other case was cracked open from the thermostat to the base - the entire length. Exactly the same happened to the second. I like the design, small, plastic etc - all good - but clearly poorly built. No way could I recommend this brand.
@@jeffweidemann927 Have you tried the cobalt heaters? They have a similar design. I am trying to deside between the two as their form factor fits nicely with my biocube sump.
I wish we had the ones with Celcius in Canada. They sell us the US version with F. Nobody else in the world uses F... I keep having to google to set the correct settings. I have the 25W and the 50W and run them on inkbird controllers just for the added safety.
@@BlakesAquatics excellent good news. Looking at reviews on mass can leed you down a horrible rabbit hole. I always forget, people that have no problems tend not to leave feedback.
mine died after 3 years. still prefer it to glass ones. plastic, thin, less visible. I've had many Aquael products, I like their quality for the price. Glass ones are a bit of a worry. sorry old thread
!!!! This heater is great for mudskippers/ gobies. Pretty much every kind of fish that sits on heaters. With glass heaters the fish burn themselves. Not with this one. Worth the price for fish safety.
Really interesting I have a couple of garra that love to sit on my glass heater. So on this does the plastic not get hot then? Or is it just spreading the hot spots out better maybe.
I bought one of these a month ago and it's the biggest piece of shit I've ever owned. I had to set the temp at 26c to get 24c so it's 2 degrees out and twice now the heater hasn't even been working the glass on the tank was ice cold. I'm getting a refund then never buying anything that's made by aquael ever again.
Thanks for the review! Just got mine today and works perfect. I made a mistake at the beginning not having the lower part submerged all the way in the water. Was fiddeling around quite a bit.. so yea, all fine now 😁
Great vid mate. I agree with you, best practice to switch heaters off when lowering water levels, regardless of functions of the heater. I am terrible remembering which I need to switch off, so I just switch them all off.
Good video. I now know mine is defective 😂. It does at least seem to be registering the proper current temp. But I'm unable to change the set temp. It's stuck on 78.... Which is fine. But I don't like that mine won't let me adjust the temp. So I may return it for another one.😊
Ohhhh thank youuuu !! This is my first time trying this heater . Just set up my new tank for my Gourami , opal . And I wasn’t sure if was fully submersible or not lol . And no one else said , or showed that it was . Thank you sirrr!!! lol
Thanks for that Blake looks good. Change of subject I was wondering how easy it might be to rework a $9 K-Mart filter into a sponge filter. Could it be done?
@@Breakhoven i havent tested to know for sure but my assupmtion would be that consumption = watts x time and that say the 50w needs to be heating for 1 hr but the 75 needs to be heating for 30 or 45 mins then in kw/h they would both be around the same (.05x1) vs (.075 x 0.5) or (.075 x .75) both would be approx 0.05 kwh
@@BlakesAquatics Cheers👍 contacted them in the meantime, they also said it uses the tradional heating element with a super sensitive thermocupler. I have two and so far both doing great.
for a 500w I'd say get any heater but make sure you run it through an inkbird controller. Thats a lot of heat so an inkbird may help from cooking your fish.
Does the heater auto cut off when it reaches the said temperature, and powers back on automatically if the temperature falls below than what I intended. I mean i set it to 28* and the water in the tank is 25*C, Now once the heater, helps the water to be 28, and my question is - Does it turn off automatically, as all the water in the tank has reached 28 and powers back ON again if the temperature falls below 27. I just need to know this feature, please help
@@BlakesAquatics well yesterday i bought 6 female guppies and 4 male guppies. i had a phantom tetra and an orange tetra before and still got them, its on 28 making the water warm currently.
Dude, you should do some research before buying fish. Different species have different requirements as they come from different habitats in different parts of the world. Come on man.
Hi Blake, I purchased this heater after first watching this video and I’m finding it fluctuates quite a bit. I have an seperate digital alarm thermometer always on in the tank along with it. It goes between 24 & 27 degrees frequently. Just wondering if you had the same or if it might be a tad finicky thermostat? I’ve had it about a 6 weeks now, I got the 75 watt for a 60l tank. ❤️🇦🇺
Hey Chelle, I didnt find that with mine to be honest, it might be an iffy thermister, reading the comments post upload it does seem like maybe they arent the best on quality control but the ones i have had i still maintain are my best heaters
I'm wondering if having more than 1W per litre isnt helping. Maybe you are getting a bit of a historesis (over swing) caused by the extra rush of heat when it's turned on.
Just bought the 50w for my 20 liter tank and i noticed when i set the temp to 28c its off by 1c - so only 27c measured with a glas thermometer. Is yours also like that?
