This game is truly beautiful. It has that Metroid-like feeling of wonder and amazement that never fades as you explore deeper and deeper into the depths and caves and find new things while the amazing music just enhances the atmosphere.
I think Aquaria has one of the best 'couplings' of music and gameplay/look/feel ('the rest' I guess). They just go so perfectly together, both enhancing the other. I'll admit that I sometimes turn off the music in games, but not in this one. :) Anyone who's played through the game also knows that the link between the music and gameplay/story is forged even stronger at one point, but I'm getting into spoiler territory..
Wow. Years after I played this game, I just turned on RU-vid and wrote "Aquaria Home Waters" in search bar just to hear this f**king awesome soundtrack... I also made some mods for this game (mainly texture ones, play as Captain Kirk and other funny s**t :D)
In 31 August 2019 Alec Holowka, the co-creator of this beautiful game, took his own life as a result of the slanderous and baseless lies told by Zoe Quinn, a talentless hack of a "game developer" with a long and verifiable history of cheating with boyfriend, sleeping with game journalists to gain a spotlight and scammed her fans donation for game development. Let us listen to the wonderful world he helps created and pray that he find peace in the great cloud sea just as he once help me find mine in the the great sea of Aquaria...
Flyingtart its been 10 years buddy. I am afraid there Will be no sequal. I am really sorry for it. I am playing this game now, after 10 years of reveal and its still beautiful. I Wonder why some game makers keep making some disgusting games instead of find unlucky games and make sequals for them. They would earn their Money then.
This game is now called "Before the Echo," due to a trademark infringement lawsuit threat from the maker of a completely-unrelated board game called "Sequence".
@@-coffeecat1590 Maaaaaaan, you replying to this comment is a real blast from the past. For what its worth, I've played LOTS of great of indie games on steam throughout the years, but I still gotta give hollow knight a try.
when i first got this game my expectations were very low. I have never played a good indie game on steam. But this game raped all of those other games. This is a very good game :D
