Hi Lisa, I'm late to these comments but just to say the full size deck is now on matte cardstock. I bought one about three weeks ago; the laminated cardstock is a thing of the past. Simon Fernandes
once i saw this deck i knew it was like the one. I totally see like seargant peppers lonely hearts club band type art and its just so beautiful and like you mentioned the androgyny. My healing/reading style is shine the light on the blockages that when released can enable the querent to realize spiritual androgyny
Thank you L!!! I was especially interested in the difference in colour because my deck in a tin seems very faded...but from what you are showing the backs vary heaps but the rest of the cards look very similar! Thank you again. Very helpful. Answered all my questions :) PS. Love the broken white in the vintage!
Hi Lisa, Thank you for your thoughtful informative video...... I love the Aquarian Tarot.... had the version in the tin but gave it away to a young friend who admired it as I also had the US Games regular sized version..... I am currently in the process of buying a 1970 edition which I am thrilled about!!!! I don't know why, but I have just felt compelled to get the vintage version of this deck.... I loved seeing the differences you pointed out. Interesting about the Ten of Wands vs the Seven of Swords..... food for thought.
I've always thought the backs of this deck were a curious choice. Bright blue Japanese print just doesn't go with pastel Art Deco/Nouveau. The toned down backs of the tin deck is an improvement.
Ive just acquired a sealed 1970(?) copy of this deck. I can’t wait to open something that’s been waiting just for me going on almost fifty years now. Watching your comparison got me excited to look at my deck once it arrives.
This was the first deck I bought at age 17 back in 1982 and it is still my go-to deck despite the 5 other decks I have bought since. The cards have patina-d beautifully and will always be my favorite. The old box has serious wear and tear, tho. Might have to re-box them.
So helpful! I in the duration of the video bought the deck on amazon and by the end of the video I canceled the order. The art work is so cool! But I may just need my favorite cards as posters! You were totally right about there not being a giant difference between the swords and wands card. It does make it harder to read especially since I don’t have the cards down to a perfect memory. If I was giving a reading to a friend I might repeat the same thing for two different cards due to the similar imagery. If I could find the vintage version I would get it just to own and although I love the tin I will have to be okay with the Tarot Mucha deck I just bought which I really really love.
Jordan W Burkhart Hi Jordan! Thanks so much for watching and writing! That’s so funny about ordering and canceling - I’ve done that too! LOL - good luck in your journey with the 78. It’s so much fun, isn’t it, getting to know these images! I’m on the fence about the Mucha, myself. I have the Fools Dog app - which I found kind of meh... but when I’ve seen people’s walkthroughs it makes me want to own a copy... What do you love about it???
Kelly Bear I just got myself one and I’m disappointed on how the images are not properly centered which makes the frames look odd, especially on the back of the cards. Love the tin concept but I the not the asymmetry :(
Great video! I don't own a vintage version but I do own the current standard size and the current version in a tin. Today I noticed the Two of Cups in the tin is missing the yellow line around the border! I never noticed before! Makes me a little sad as that card always looks so joyful in the standard size. I think I may try drawing it on myself. The printers must have dropped the ball there.
I refuse to purchase the Aquarian in the tin. Not sure how that’ll work out for my ginormous man hands. Lol I understand that you’re disappointed with the standard size’s card stock, and that’s certainly the one I want. Is the card stock for that one durable enough for daily use?
