Heyah Joel, just got some stems of this and it’s super gorgeous. I was just researching care of it on Google and your vid was number 1 mate. Have a happy Easter.

Just realised that flushing noise was playing every time you planted a stem. So trippy lol

I’m doing a 90 gallon planted, using Fluval Stratum, it’s going to be a guppy and shrimp tank, my hope is to breed them and sell to a local store, because in Illinois you can’t find a good guppy.

Your channel is very good. A question: I have the ludwigia senegalensis that is still transforming from its emerged to submerged state, I see that the main stems are very high up to the water level, is it good to prune these stems and replant them now, or do I hope that the whole plant becomes its submerged state?

Being honest, you’re the inspiration that gave me the push to make a “high tech” planted tank where the plants are the main focus and the fish/shrimp are only there to help the plants grow. Thanks Joel! Side note: I was going to buy some Guinea but was scared as the In-Vitro information said “advanced” in red. So thought I’d wait on it a bit, but it’s a beautiful orange plant with red veins. I love how it looks when given the correct conditions for optimal growth.

Thanks Simon! I wouldn't be too scared to try some new plants, if you got a good healthy system, just go for it! It might be a little waste of money, though you may learn something really cool! Invitro plants can be a little bit of a paint to get to convert, though we'll never know until we try them!

Hello, I'm a new subscriber, and have just resonantly found your channel. I could use a little help with my setup. I'm currently running a 4 bulb T5ho fixture at 54w a piece, along with a fluval 2.0 59w fixture on my 75 gallon aquarium. I tried years ago to run the tank on two of the fluval 2.0's and wean myself off of the t5ho's as they are getting harder to find replacement components for as things break. With just the two Fluval led fixtures I started losing plants at the lower levels of the tank, do to the light not penetrating enough and the base stems started rotting away. My substrate is three to four inches of Seachem red flourite. I have soft water which goes from 6.8 - 7.1 ph, and is filtered through an Eheim 2075 Professional 3. I'm injecting C02 through an inline atomizer at about 2 to 3 bubbles per second, controlled buy a ph meter. The C02 starts 30 minutes before the lights, and shuts off 30 minutes before the lights. I run my lights for 10 hours a day which seems to work best after experimenting for a while, and this tank has been up and running for 6 years now. I've had varying success over the year, and I'm interested to know the amount, and frequency of your fertilization regiment, also your lighting equipment, and run times. I have great success with just about all of the fast growing stem plants I've tried, but struggle with slower growing, and broader leafed plants. I hardly use any ferts. If I try a regiment of more than one pump a week of the aquarium co-op product easy green, or other ferts such as Thrive, I start having algae issues. I've found it hard to find good advice on larger tanks, and was glad to come across you channel. Could you possibly take a moment to give me you thoughts on my setup, and any suggestions you may have? Thank you for any help, and I enjoy your informative videos greatly.

Super helpful tips thanks! Would like to know what your dosing regiment is like and how to deal with differential growth. Maybe a video idea or whatnot. Right now i dose easy green to 1 dose per 10 gal post 50% wc + 1 dose per 10 gal mid week between changes, seems like the octopus is eating it all though...make more and more of that stuff but everything else is super slow by comparison.

Nice one! ^^ To get real intense red plants i've been told... low phosphate and low nitrate with high light, what's your experience or opinion about that?
@CorvusOscen
@CorvusOscen 5 лет назад
You can certainly get a little better results by starving certain plants. That's going to be at cost of the other plants though. So, species only tank, I say go for it!
