The ponds are looking amazing. I surprised LadyLRB hasn't planted any plants around the ponds. The fish room looking good 👍. I am happy to see you making videos again 🥰
Virginia Creeper is generally safe to handle, but some people are reported to have experienced a rash from contact. I’ve never known anyone with this problem. A bigger problem is that it can take over. They absolutely “infest” my azaleas.
Yeah I get it. Shout out to Hailey. Our Autumn came early in Scotland. Less and less daphnia. Short but sweet vid and excellent timing I might say. #Aquarium Fantasy yeah u did!
Driftwood implies wood found at beaches (hence the drift part in the name), sterilized by constant solar incidence, which also breaks up a lot of the tanins and/or other secondary metabolites Random branches from the forest are indeed not recommended, not only because of the reasons you mention, but also because many still could have a high quantity of unknown substances
@@LRBaquatics I'll never forget the one time I had a huge mushroom pop out of the water, from of a random twig I grabbed from the woods 😂 One other time I also had a bunch of thermites come out of a branch, but the fishes loved the gruby meal
In Sarasota, Florida, my tubs and ponds stay outside 12 months of the year...! Especially during the El Nino pattern, which we should be in for the next seven years... The LA Nina years will get colder (16ish-23ish)... Thanks for sharing... Keep up your awesomeness...!
And ziptie your kids outside...! I just cut them when I need in... I've tried latches, but the raccoons can, and will figure them out... I have yet to have a raccoon cut a ziptie off....! My biggest mistake was leaving a bucket of mystery snails outside over night...! They had a buffet...!!!
I’m in space coast Florida & the rain has been bad this year. I’d never put my fish outside due to predation/insects/mosquitoes especially lol you’re brave. My filter died on one of my tanks & it got mosquito larvae- they just come in whenever we put the dogs out… so I got endler guppies to eat them. The frogs & apple snails are booming this year… there are lots of fish in the drainage ditches by my house as well… probably mosquito fish. I was going to try to catch some just to see but I haven’t done it yet… I got some water & plants from the big canal just to see if I could culture any fish food but it was just scuds, pond snails & 1 single ramshorn snail
My internet has been out all day today. It's supposed to be back on by 5:30pm. It's 5:25 now. I guess I will see if they're lying in about 5 min. 😅. I have Spectrum by the way. Glad to hear that you didn't have to much trouble with the dragonflies. Micheal's Fish Room only put out 2 tubs and the dragonfly nymphs wiped out one of his tubs. That really sucks. I wish you good fortune on your fish count LRB. And good luck 👍.
I never tried it but if you look up LRB heated outdoor ponds you might find some useful info. I used to run tropical fish outside year round in Indiana -40F windchills.
if you plan on selling your property in the next 20 years don't sign a solar lease, buyers won't want to share their property, especially if they are looking to dump a bunch of solar panels on your nice big lawn. you would never be able to dig a pond or put up a greenhouse in those areas
I would think especially with your inground ponds because they'll stay warmer. I'm in northern Ohio, and I have guppies that live outside year round even under the ice. It's a 9'x14'×2.5' deep and the guppies thrive in it. I'm sure you can do it.
Man something wiped out 100s of guppies/endlers in my pond. I was so stoked to see all the color morphs. Pretty sure dragonfly larvae, as I had it chocked full of floating plants. A real bummer. I think I'm going to replace the pond with a 75 gallon aquarium😂 outdoor
That tub at 1:34 looks like its lip away from you is being pushed down by the tub next to it, not sure if that is the case or not, but it also looks like that may cause the water level at the rim to maybe be lower than the filtered outflow hole.
I did check them out and yeah on a few of them they are getting pushed down a little. They have never been that level since I eyeballed the excavation. Sand settles a bit too but still overflow works but will have to watch out for it. Thanks for catching that!
Agreed! Not even sure poison oak lives east of the Rockies. Poison oak is all over on the west side of the Rockeis. No poison ivy on the west side if I remember correctly. ~Ron
