Aquarius: Eccentric, Ideological, or Finding One's Social Network? 

I found out I have my sun, moon, and rising in aquarius.

I had to watch this one because I have leaned more on the Uranian, Tech, Eccentric, Inventor view on Aquarius mostly because I have my Sun and Mercury in Aquarius and I totally fit the Uranian mold with invention ideas running through my head, owning an internet business and a crazy love of tech and computers BUT from your research here it shows a stronger emphasis on belonging to a group, maybe that explains my 23 years identifying myself as a fundamentalist charismatic christian and now I strongly identify more with astrologers, ufo researchers, metaphysics, & spiritual, non religious groups. My 11th house Uranus and Third house Sun ruling my MH explains my particular Aquarius Tech flavor I assume. Still a lot of eccentricity but nevertheless I guess I still cling to identifying with the camp of eccentric groups and all along I thought I was becoming a single minded free thinker :-) Thanks Again! Nice! "Group awareness" and understanding how people are a product of their environment. That makes such a nice polarity with Leo, who's concerned about individual development-- how can that happen if the group is not supportive of that individual? How much is an individual shaped by their context? And does some of that need to be deconstructed in order for that individual to grow? I think group awareness can trigger eccentricity-- I have Aquarius on the IC (I view the IC as a personal placement, though I know some people view it only as the family you came from-- I feel the former more) and North Node in Aquarius, and I've always felt the need to find my tribe, and have always felt like an outsider. I have also, incidentally, always felt odd. But on top of that I'm very concerned with group dynamics-- and it does take the form of strong ideology for me! I think you mentioned the societal pressures to conform-- when someone deconstructs that pressure, and finds it negative or oppressive, they'll react to their awareness by rebelling. If an Aquarian doesn't feel like something's right with the group, they may in some cases rebel-- some just speak out quietly, and maybe some don't even focus on those groups (or come to different conclusions about them). I think of civil rights movements being really Aquarian in spirit, and some of the most dedicated activists can seem, or be viewed as, extremely eccentric (or often something more negative), because they're undoing a lot of conditioning. Because to find your tribe, you need to understand what that tribe looks like by understanding how groups and social systems work-- and, you need to take care of your tribe, once you've found one, even if that takes going against the larger collective. That's one way I see it manifesting-- it's the most personal, using myself and Aquarian friends as examples. I definitely feel like I grasp it more clearly now-- the whole "they're humanitarians! and they're really weird, but they really like having tons of friends, and also computers" but now I can connect, at least, humanitarianism, friends, and eccentricity, and tie that in with the archetype of the water bearer (someone who's aware of the group is aware that they need water), and my Pisces moon is feeling a lot better about those disparate traits being connected!

I just stumbled upon the incredibly Eccentric and very missed Steve Irwin, "Crocodile Hunter" having his South Node, Jupiter, Mars, Mercury & Saturn all in Aquarius. His birth time is in question but if correct it places Aquarius on his Ascendant and all these aquarian planets near the Asc. Then his North Node in Leo giving him a Destiny to be the theatrical man he was. Maybe we can find the Astrological variable that distinguishes the Group and Eccentric Aquarian themes. I will let you know if I see anything more that defines the Eccentric Aquarian types.

Sun Mars MC in Aquarius 9th house. I never quite understand Aquarius and don't like other Aquarians. I hate groups and tribes, sorry, this whole group thing doesn't resonate with me. I resonate more with the outcast side of Aquarius. As an immigrant I cut off all ties to my roots because I hate the most is social norms, main stream culture, traditions, anything imposed on me, people's expectations for me etc.. Moving to a foreign land where no one knows about me I feel much more comfortable. I like focusing on my personal life at home alone, IC in Leo. I don't care damn any group at all.
