After years of boardgaming your video's are still my "go to" source of content when I really want to know how a game plays or feels. I knew about aquatica but after watching this It has risen to the top for me on my wish list, it really looks great! Keep up the good work!

Starting at ~ 36:00 you use a scoring action on the second card twice. Starting at ~ 41:45 you flip one of your mantas over for free. Thanks for the great video!

I like it when games make their player boards indented and raised in places to help you organize as well as keep track of your actions on your turn. Its just a quality of life that I really appreciate.

Thanks for the great tutorial! @46:00 the green player has one other option for buying a location card for 1 trident which is the 2nd card from the left from the top row that costs 1 less trident. and it also was worth 1 point more

O, Gosh. Aquatica was designed in 2019, but comes published in Russia only in 2021. Next week actually. So excited you made a video about it right. Now I can make a decision about buying it or not

This game really strikes me as a combination of deck building and set collection in their purest forms, nice work on the video as always. Very informative and concise with the gameplay and explanations.

35:47 regarding the Green player's choices for scoring cards. At this point, they could have used a chain reaction to get through all 3 cards without using their Rise 1 Manta. Use either of the Score 1 locations worth 6 points to score the 3 point on the left edge. Then use the other Score 1 location to score the first one, since it would have risen all the way to the points as well. This would allow the final location, center right, to score the final remaining 6 point location.

This game is intriguing for sure. I wonder if the downtime in some of these combo crazy turns can be a turn off. Great play through! Very easy to follow.

The game is at most 20 min per player even the first time you deal with it.

I haven't found it to be a problem. The combos can be big, but are usually pretty quick to pull off.

I was wondering that it’s been long Jon posted a playthrough. I have heard about this game a lot but didn’t get it. But I have backed a similar game on KS called Aqua Garden. Heard of that Jon? Love your playthroughs like always. Love from Seattle ❤️

The mechanisms seem fun, but thematically I can’t buy-in and wish we were constructing buildings or something, Card names like “Diplomatic Crab” aren’t doing it a service either. 😬 Either way, Thanks for another great video!

@@JonGetsGames sweet, this purple one looks awesome ! Ummm I'm a dude who wears large shirts but I'm like at the cusp of medium so a large shirt that is like legit proper large is usually weird looking. I notice this is unisex, should I go medium then ?

Hard to say exactly. I can say that I'm 5'9" and ~185lbs and I wear the large version of the JGG shirt.

Great video, Jon, but I have some rules questions. Sorry if you answered this, but I didn't get it: can you only use a benefit on your card ("exploit") once per turn? Can I use the benefit on card A, a benefit on card B that "raises" card A, then use the next lower benefit on card A? Thanks.

@@JonGetsGames I didn't think it was too difficult of a question, but I've posted it on other reviewers' Aquatica videos and I haven't received a response from anyone else yet so maybe this part of the game is mildly confusing? I guess that's what BGG is for.

Mistake alert !!! on 36:08 you use the ability, and put card back in deck, so far so good, but than you use the same card ability again (you forgot push it inside) on 36:40

Yeah, I messed that one up. I already have a correction for this in the Klingon subtitles, I suggest turning those on for these videos to see the most accurate version of them :)

I record using a Vixia HF G40 that I've had for ~5 years or so.

That’s actually not that bad. So maybe you can check while you editing for more warmer Color. And do you upload in 1080p ?

Scouting only allowed when 4 or fewer cards left in the Location row (see rules p23).

This rule was changed between the first and second printings. That restriction is no longer there.

I have played this game a few times and the only thing I dont like is the all 4 objectives to end game. It turns the game into a race those 8 pts. It takes much longer to get points from lands. Maybe the harder objectives is better

There are a variety to choose from and some do seem easier to complete than others.

By the way, Jon, did you try to sleeve the cards? Can the cards fit the slots when sleeved?

Yeah, I accidentally missed that in the edit. I have added a note about this to the Klingon subtitles, if you turn those on then they should show you mistakes that have been caught.

The Matrona lets you pick up all your discarded characters, OK cool. I feel like that should be written in bold somewhere. We all ran out of characters in our first play through and were like "hmmm something is not right"
