I just tried putting some white automotive thread tape in the grove where the O-ring goes and it worked perfect and no mess !! It just fills in the grove enough to push the O-ring against the canister a little bit more and seals perfect. Absolutely no leaks !! Permanent fix for me.

+1-- Right on! I had leaks whenever I opened the canister and closed it-- not the barrel head type leak -- but incessant flood type. Had changed the O ring, still did it, then put silicon grease on it-- worked once. Finally I ran 4-5 wraps of plumbers teflon tape around the O-ring in its installed position. Problem solved. Cause? I believe one of two things is happening- O ring is out of spec because of age or improper manufacturing- so it not making a good seal, or the lid is slightly out of round somewhere. Either way some grease perhaps might help, but definitely lots of teflon round that O ring till enough of a seal is in place .

Finally found something that is exactly what is happening in my situation. except every time I do this it does it again. Can you post a video dealing more with this subject?

+Dean Abdulrahim You may need to replace the Quick Dis-connect Valve Block, or at the very least, the Quick Dis-connect o-rings. If you have any other questions, feel free to give us a call at 888-915-2782 Mon-Fri 9-5PST.

+AquaTopVideos Could the o-rings fail and still be intact ( not broken, stretched or damaged)? Also it is quite a bit more water than that comes out and it seems like there might be air going through it. I'm not sure if that means anything.

+Dean Abdulrahim It's possible. They may need to be inspected very closely. You can also try using an aquarium grade silicone based lubricant on the o-rings.

Hello! and if it still leaks from the sides? is it the o-rings? on the plug in adaptor? mine are not damaged, but still it leaks...

It must be something else , i do that and works one day then stop working completely today. I disconnect from power , in 10 minutes i connect again start working for few minutes then stop again, so i repeat the process few times ,after few minutes of working then stop over and over again. You think its something wrong with the motor or something ? I am afraid to live on when i am not in home in case the canister stop working. There is no air in the canister i did what you said rock the canister .

+Angelica B We recommend powering down the unit until the issue can be resolved. If you have already replaced the impeller and are sure that there are no air leaks from the inlet, then you may need to replace the quick dis-connect valve block or the barrelhead.

Can one just silicone around the crevices around the in/outputs of the barrel head?

+John Dom We actually recommend using an aquarium grade silicone lubricant on the barrel head and inlet/outlet o-rings during your routine maintenance.

My canister is stopping working all the time. I thought its the impeller i did buy new one i installed today it work for 30 minutes and then stop pumping the water , when i go check if it works properly then i realize that is not working ,but before stopping make like sometimes noise from impeller . Everything was install properly ,i don't know what is wrong with this canister. I have CF 500. Can you tell me what could be the problem?

+Angelica B With the filter running, gently rock the canister filter front to back and side to side to expel any trapped air inside of the canister. That may be the cause of the issue.
