I'm too absolutely not happy with Aquila strings, and specially the Sugar, I understand 100% your point of you. The squeaks are still there even after several weeks. As ThiagoCP explained there is no way to play these strings. I tried them on several guitars, Smallman, Jean-Mairet, and Alhambra. To my opinion, these strings should be just removed from sale.
Hi Alain, nice to see you here. I agree with you. I think Aquila put them on the market way too soon and the squeak less advertising was misleading. But I also think that the other products they have are good, although I haven’t tried them (just heard good comments), and the active communication between Mimo and the customers is highly appreciated.
Yeah well, unfortunately mine squeaks too. So much, that I literally can play on my guitar like an out of tune fiddle. At least chords are easier than on real violin. I've found that oils help a little. I mean if you lotion your fingertips a bit. Or rub your fingers on your nose it helps with squeaks, but you loose grip also. Well I guess I'll go back to nylegut. Or just sanded nylon for grip. But hey, kudos to aquila for trying something unconventional again. The texture is amazing. Really funny and interesting colored bases. Interesting sound. Unfortunately it doesn't work as intended. It's possible to play under super special conditions. Fortunately strings doesn't cost as much as a new guitar and I can experiment with sound. I'll try again in a year. Maybe they will change the formula as promised.
The squeak in the high strings in those is supper annoying and I never faced anything similar to that before. The fact that they are advertising those as "squeakless" is false and absurd. I bought those strings because I thought the squeakless "feature" was on the low strings, since I never had squeak issues on the high strings.... It was a hell of a surprise to discover the high pitch squeak on B and G strings. There's no way to play with this set, every arpeggio that you make will sound like cat nails scraping on a chalkboard.
Hi Thiago, I would also be very annoyed at the string breaking on the first day, and agree that the squeakless sticker is misleading. If they can fix those issues, the string might be a success, but as it currently stands, no way.
