Excellent video! Great knowledge - only thing to add would be a couple sources for the gauge - Brownell's never has these part specific tools in stock. Any help to source a gauge would be great! But still great video - very clear, easy to understand and well presented. Kudos!

Have this problem on my 556 10.5 built. Great video I didn't think about my hammer spring. Also footnote your dustcover pin is not installed correctly.. Don't want that coming out and getting jammed in your extractor. 100 pushups 4 laps

I just tested my pin using my caliper, it was .80mm in average(.78, .82, .80), which is about .0307in. It did give me many times of unfired primer dimple, but I think it was mainly the short stroke of my AR caused that, probably a gas leak resulting to insufficient pressue and energy restored on the buffer spring, and the return of the buffer didn't hit the pin hard enough

Is this the same on an AKM bolt for a 5.56? I would think it would be a constant for a caliber.

If you don't me asking what was the gauge that you used moatly in your video. I am having a diffcult time findjng a great gauge to use. Moat of them have been discontinued.

What can you do, when you charge you weapon and you get a light primer strike, just loading the weapon without pulling the trigger is leaving a light primer strike? What can you do to check for the problem? and how to fix it?

Why some BCGs have a cut that expose the firing pin?

I started building AR's in 7.62x39. Once I found the sweet spot for that caliber and all was great. After a couple hundred rounds I started getting light primer strikes on Tulammo steel cased ammo. No doubt the carbon was building up causing less stroke of the firing pin. I went with a RedX enhanced firing pin and now that never happens. Even though I never shoot brass cased ammo in my x39's, I have wondered if they would rupture the primer on brass cased ammo?

Doesn't a too long protrusion increase the chance if a slamfire?

Great video. I am about to make a dummy firing pin, to safely demonstrate an AR-15 in use, for my Hunter Safety Classes. And we can't have live firing weapons now! (Long story). And I have learned, if you just remove the firing pin, the entire BCG gets jammed up, and locks into battery! Its a big pain to break loose. So, I am going to grind off the business end of a cheap firing pin, by several thousands! Of course, I'll test fire it, to make sure it does NOT fire.

Does it change for different calibers? 50BMG for instance requires a 'red' hammer spring to achieve correct hammer weight for primer detonation, does a 'deeper' pin set also see a more reliable detonation?
