I have a CZ 527 varmint in 223. After doing my research before purchasing a bolt action rifle, I found this! CZ rifles chambered in.223 can fire 5.56 ammunition safely?” A: All of our.223s will happily eat 5.56. Since our factory is in Europe, we build everything to CIP spec, which doesn’t differentiate between the two cartridges and just has the higher pressure as its standard. This is the reason I decided on a CZ Varmint, and also another contributing factor was that my CZ 455 in 22 cal. simply amazes me with how accurate it is with any ammo I feed it! Great vid!

Glad I found this video. Think you're first person I've found that explained the difference in 223 and 556 pressures while most of the others said there's no difference. Thanks for the knowledge.

You said 77g is the biggest (heaviest) round you can use in an AR15 magazine? Did I understand that correctly? What about larger (heavier) ammo? Does it need to be single bolt action only? I thought they had some monster 90g subsonic rounds?
@bighx6099
@bighx6099 2 года назад
You did the overall length of just the bullet themselves. But how much length on each bullet actually makes contact with the lands and grooves within the barrel? Do some of the heavier bullets have a longer nose that doesn't touch the lands and grooves? Talk text sorry
@PracticalAccuracy
@PracticalAccuracy 2 года назад
You are correct that the overall length of the bullet may not accurately reflect the contact points of the bullet in the barrel. Some heavier bullets like Berger bullets definitely have a long nose. Also, weight distribution in the bullet as well as what material is in the bullet (i.e. lead or steel) can have an effect in bullet stability. Thanks for watching.

77 Blk Hills ammo is amazing. I clone this with 77gr SMK and 8208XBR. Very accurate. Playing eith 75gr Hornady HPBT Match projectile.

Black hills ammo might be amazing but, for almost $2.00 per round for 62 gr 5.56 compared to .63 cents a round for pmc x-tac 62 gr green tip 5.56. I think the choice is obvious since my ar-15 is not a battle rifle. Now if you're a competition shooter, then it'll be a different story.

No, you are absolutely correct, too expensive. I reload so it is way cheaper for me.

What is the best twist rate then?
@PracticalAccuracy
@PracticalAccuracy 3 года назад
There really is no best twist rate. twist rates of 1-7,1-8, 1-9 should stabilize all bullets between 55 to 77 grains. however, a particular twist rate will not guarantee a particular bullet weight will be the most accurate in your rifle. I can only comment that based on shooting Rock River arms rifles, as seen in my other videos, with 1-9 or 1-8 twist, they are very accurate with 68 to 77 grain bullets. I have 2 criterion barrels in 1-8 twist that shoot 68 gr bullets the best, but 75 to 77 gr bullets not so good. You really just have to experiment. Hope this helps you.
@CharlesHorning
@CharlesHorning 3 года назад
@@PracticalAccuracy Okay if I am on a strict budget and also because ammo is hard to come by do you recommend a twist rate that would work (theoretically) better on lower budget ammo?
@PracticalAccuracy
@PracticalAccuracy 3 года назад
@@CharlesHorning if you are on a strict budget, I would recommend a Rock river upper 1-9 twist and put in on a cheaper lower. If you don't want Rock River and I had to pick only one twist rate, I would get a 1-8. However, I think barrel quality is more important than twist rate. Good luck
