Shooting for the first time my ar pistol with brand new 100 rd drum mag & Franklin Armory binary trigger, had a couple of double feeds..well see how it hold up.
@@OmegaBahn I would hope so. I just see a lot of posts on firearms sites about having a drum mag ready to go at all time. I am just thinking thinking to myself, you better hope it doesn’t jam at a critical moment if that’s your SHTF mag..
False. Drums are meant to be used either on Semi Auto or Full Auto. Never on Bursts like these. I own a KCI Drum and a SightMark Wolverine, both products impressed me, couse none of them will ever let me down in a real life situation besides all the bs people say about them (not talking about you specifically, it's just because Drums will not work properly with binnary triggers or rapid fire)
I had similar problems with my 7.5 inch pistol in .300 blackout, FA Binary trigger Gen III and a 100 round RWB drum. The problem was hammer follow due to the tendency of pistol length AR's to be overgassed and the velocity of the bolt carrier over running the ability of the trigger to reset, or to cause light primer strikes. By experimenting with a combination of heavier recoil springs and h, H1, or even H2 and h3 recoil buffers, I found the right combination and it works flawlessly all of the time. Use the heavier hammer spring if you are using heavier grade military primers.
His was clearly full auto tho so it’s different trigger component probably bootleg that don’t fit his rifle so somethings blocking it when it goes to feed or it’s just because you guys think it’s more practical to have a 100 round drum that weighs 10lbs instead of a 100 round clip🧐🧐🤡
I like using white lithium grease for the buffer spring, but it can get on the bolt if you're too generous. I don't see this as an issue, but if someone does, they're still better off lubing the buffer spring with the same oil as the bolt. Lithium grease nearly eliminates all the rattle
Yeah all that sounds good and probably draw a crowd of ducks only thing off about that AR is the dumb drum and the person firing it attempting to look the way you sound
I think this setup would run flawless with normal 30 magazines. I was starting to think it had something to do with the drum mag causing the gun not to function correctly or causing it to feed to fast. Remember, it's not the looks that will save your ass it's how prepared you are to go the extra mile and how you and your firearm operate. I would trash that drum mag and get yourself some decent 30rd mags.
Agree 1000%, drum mags are horrible when compared to good, 30 rd mags. But I inderstand he wanted to unload a shit ton of ammo without reloading so fast when at the range.
I havent ever had an issue with my ARs and I use the same magpul mags. From a $500 M&P 15 to an over $2k Dissent 6.5" AR15. Never a hiccup on any of my rifles with the magpuls.
A lot of guns with binary triggers that you put drums on run much better with hotter amo. If its gonna be a drum gun you can experiment with different kinds of springs and buffers and different amounts of gas and stuff and see what works the best. And yes the old drums where known for not being reliable just on their own. But they have a ton of new ones that tend to work really well now.
The Fostech binary triggers are more reliable because they eliminate the possibility of hammer follow by engaging the full auto profile. on the bolt carrier. Of course that means they require a full auto profile bolt carrier, but most of them already are.
100 drum are double stacked while they feed 60 drum pmag is single stacked while they feed and sometimes it can be ammo that can fail to go off just eject it
Yes I went back a couple weeks later and ran pretty flawlessly with 30 round mags I just wasn’t able to record much, even the drum runs pretty good just not on binary.
I like those drums but they are hit and miss.... I had one that ran and worked flawlessly but had 2 that just ran like shit or broke after one or two uses. The dummy rounds that act as the follower broke on both of them. I use a 90rd snail now and have never had any feed issues and only 1 light primer strike (out ran the binary)
Play with buffer spring tensions and weights. If your having issue's it's normally from one of the two. I have issue's of outrunning the gun which causes hiccups in your ROF.
I have a Beta 100 round Drum, it has about 500 rounds thru it, and only three failures to feed, about the same as any average 30 Round magazine and I use ETS, Magpuls, aluminum and stainless GI magazines, Hexagon etc. The Beta's work well especially if the graphite has gone thru them enough.
There's no drum mag in the world as reliable as GI 30 rd mags or Pmags even. I prefer Gen 2 Pmags or Okay 30 rd aluminum mags, but use what you're most comfortable with. If drums are reliable in your setup (which it sounds like they are) then use them. I've just had badluck I guess; can't ever make it through a 60 or 100 rd drum. But as a wise man once said: _To each, their own!_
@@gunsnstripes4473 Those triggers have to be shimmed properly and according to the manufacturer .0020 inch can make the difference between it functioning and not functioning
I don’t need a drum 30 rounds is all I need and if I want more use a maglink or black tape to put 2 mags together. On top of that have to think about the weight as well. Could be fun in the range but as you saw in this video his gun jammed a few times.
They work fine on Simi. I have the same set up that is a kci 100 round drum for 130 clams right now not duty ready. If you want a reliable drum for an a.r. you will be looking at the saw 150 round drum mag for 389 clams but your paying for quality and reliable of a duty ready drum to put your life on.
I don't think that's a trigger issue, it looks like a feeding / extraction issue. Are you getting a double feed? Or is your extractor not grabbing the case?
I guess no one goin to talk about ejection is forward witch indicates a over gas and that could be a reliability problem their tune in that buffer system and im going to say it spits that drum no problem
Cool video. Glad you are able to enjoy yourself. Too bad the gun was malfunctioning. Could be the beta mag. Sometimes those high cap mags don't work in our favor. Take it apart. Lube it up and see how it goes after that. Or light primer strikes? Can't tell on this video but i hope you figured it out
Who cares about the gun jamming when his gun safety is one 1000% . Excellent clearing , checking and observation before even thinking about pulling the trigger again .
Not sure your actual issue is, but that seems it is not feeding properly. My guess perhaps the weight of the mag pulling down to the feeding ramp idk. But all I know is I'd take 10, 10 rd mags all day over this setup.
My fostec came with a full auto bcg and a sear to prevent the hammer following the bolt home which I imagine is his problem. Also looked like it may have been something other than binary trigger bc the gun was firing with trigger stationary in fire position. 😳
I have 2 gen drum and work good just need make sure but definitely would make sure it good one if was going to carry in shit need make sure it lubed up Ik first gen sucked and this guy didn’t seem to now how clear his but I train for that buy putting a snap cap in one mag
between the drum and the franklin trigger, he ain’t hitting on much! he keeps looking at the bullets like there is something wrong with the ammo lol, he should have gone with the echo2!(revision, the echo AR2 worked for about 500 rounds flawlessly. Then literally over night quit working! trigger will not reset, it want even shoot in normal mode!
