There is a new update for the J2 gearbox to use the new YGS series gearbox from Stepperonline.
This 6 axis robot arm uses an Arduino based controller and Python interface programming as well as RoboDK. The AR3 & AR4 have been used in hundreds of hobby, educational and STEM programs to teach mechatronics, machining, 3D printing as well as programming. This desktop robot arm has also been used for a wide variety of industrial tasks such as welding, sorting, stacking and machine tending and has also been used in many filming and videography applications.
You can download all the 3D print files, software, manuals and source code for free here: www.anninrobot...
You can email me with any questions about the project here: info@anninrobotics.com
The factory direct motors package is available from Stepperonline here: www.omc-steppe...

Chris, are you familiar with JMC servos? Packaged in stepper form, with a built in driver on the motor. They accept step/direction signals just as a normal stepper would. They are fairly competitive price wise.

Keep going with the project Chris! Where do you see the project in 5 years from now? What kind of inspirations and limitations of the AR4 would help you to build the AR5?

Thank you. I've got a list of updates and improvements I want to work on I'm sure in five years it will be even more developed oh, I'm not sure yet what another version might look like

Looks nice. Try ramping the motion right at the end so it doesn't jitter.

Thank you, I left the accel and decel low intentionally so you can see the new gearbox rigidity and backlash.

Hey, Chris! Love the robot! Great work! I have a few doubts regarding the motors used in the robot: Are they geared motors? If so, then what is the gear ratio used for each joint. Also let me know what all did you consider to calculate the gear ratios for each link.
@anninrobotics
@anninrobotics 5 месяцев назад
Hello, some of them are 50:1 and others are 20:1 the ratios were chosen based on torque needs but also based on minimum pulse width needed to maintain arm speeds above 100mm per sec.

Hey Chris, I was wondering if it’s possible to scale up the robot arm? Maybe to something that was 2 meters long?

Hello Sir, I have a doubt regarding the stepper motor. The motor with screw spindle is the one used to drive the joint 4 right?
@tradingisthinking

I see(or it seems) some vibrations on the end of the motion and when ARM tries to stop. it is true? Have you tried to measure this?
@anninrobotics
@anninrobotics Год назад
I intentionally reduced the deceleration to make the movements abrupt or demonstrate quick change in direction to show there is no backlash or slop in the joints.

Hey, Chris! Can you please tell me which motors can be used to build a small manipulator training robot? MG90s are not suitable because the arm movement is shaky with them. NEMA17 stepper motors are too weak. What BLDC geared motors can be used, and what drivers would work for them? Looking online with my son for a few days, still can't find a kit to start building mechanical parts.

are you looking at gear head motors? The AR4 uses a 50:1 reduction nema 17 and it does well

I love this project!! Which is the payload of this AR4 robot and the working area if you add the rail system?
@anninrobotics
@anninrobotics Год назад
Hello the robot payload is 1.9kg and the robot reach is 63cm. The length of the track can be any length you wish to make it but mine is about 400mm. Thank you.

I'm having difficulty in finding the motors and gearboxes. Can you please include in the document, exactly what servo motor, gearbox, driver etc ? along with the omc combinations.

Can I use nema34 on every joint and adjust the pieces? I can't find all those nemas and gearboxes... :-(
@maxcimander188
@maxcimander188 Год назад
@@greendsnow Using a nema 34 is ABSOLUTE overkill, WAY too big/strong. At least when going for the same lengths. His Website has EVERYTHING. Documentation/Software/Bill of Materials/Shopping links...
@greendsnow
@greendsnow Год назад
@@maxcimander188 His website has everything, yes, that's true. I just don't have any experience in turning a dc motor into a servo motor. and dear lord, why are turn key servos this expensive...
@maxcimander188
@maxcimander188 Год назад
@@greendsnow they are this expensive because the NEMA 23 used in this robot + the planetary gearbox are REALLLY precise. + the stepper drivers are also not cheap. But it's definitely really optimized and the prices are fair. Maybe if you already have some stepper motors and their drivers, would you switch out his choises.

Hi Chris how are you ? i from Brazil and I'm amazed with your project, well i have a question, do you have some project that we can use arduino Uno ? i mean, with cnc shield for arm robot ? Thank you so much for your work here.
@anninrobotics
@anninrobotics Год назад
Hello, the earlier AR2 robot can be run from an Arduino Mega but the newest version of software with all the kinematics midst the faster processor of the Teensy board. You can still download all the AR to software on the downloads page
