This is based on a true story. A cable car accident in China killed many people. The father lifted his toddler son out of the car as it fell, saving him. Both parents perished in the accident. Such an incredible performance about a truly heartbreaking true story of a young child who watched his parents die in a tragic cable car accident. The composer of this song performed it on the Singer program and later Dimash did, he literally had no voice, even after shots in his throat, yet he still painfully performed this song. In Bastau he definitely wasn’t sick and delivered one of his most emotional performances, in my opinion. My thoughts are as yours! Dimash brings us the story that this awesome song is based on. Written by the lady that adopted the little boy that survived that awful accident, who’s parents both died while doing their utmost to save their son. It’s such an emotional song and Dimash brings that emotion to life, makes it real, I cry every single time I hear him sing this, but to be honest, Dimash makes me cry a lot, his voice is just so beautiful, it pulls my heart strings every single time, with pretty much every song he sings. Like Autumn Strong, Daybreak is based on a true event - a tragic cable car accident took place in China in October 1999 which took the lives of 14 tourists and there were 22 injured. A young couple managed to lift their 2,5yo son out of the falling cable car to safety but the parents did not survive the accident. Han Hong wrote Daybreak to commemorate the couple’s ultimate sacrifice for their child and she also sang it in the 2015 Singer competition and won - definitely worth watching. She adopted the orphan in 1999. Based on a true event when an over crowded cable car went crashing down a deep gorge, a couple held their 2 year old above their heads so their bodies would absorb the impact of the crash, their toddler survived. On hearing of the incident Han Hong took a cable car ride herself to understand the sacrifice by seeing where it happened and wrote a song about it from the baby's possible perspective having lost her own father at a young age. She ended up adopting the baby boy. DImash said he heard the song around the age of 10 and it made him tremble on knowing the story behind it. He always sings it so beautifully in honour of the parents sacrifice, the baby now a grown young man, and Han Hong. ❤

Thank you for your reaction. It pretty much echoes what I feel about Dimash in general. The emotion really bleeds from him in this performance and brings me to tears. I read that he first heard this story when he was 10, also that his team were worried about him at this concert - his first big solo event, back from being away from home in China and lost a lot of weight from the stress and responsibility, a lot for a 23 year old. He did a fabulous job.
I loved your commentary on Dimash as a mature artist serving the music, the story the characters, rather than himself. I saw in concert 3 times one of America's greatest singers, now an old lady. I use to admire her a lot. She will always be regarded as one of the greatest voices in her prime. But every interview is always such a display of self centeredness and she always tells the same stories over and over always to enhance herself and her image. I noticed when I saw her in concert when she was around 50, that she sang songs from a distance, she sang songs of love and loss and life, but as if she was untouched by these experiences herself, as if she only knew these feelings from a far. Impressive amazing voice (at that time I did not know Dimash - now she sounds like a novice as does every other "great" singer ), but no real depth or soul or feeling....I was untouched emotionally and only amazed at her voice. Dimash, makes me cry against my will. I was NEVER moved to tears when listening to this AMerican "Great" vocalist, but Dimash penetrates the soul like no other singer on the planet. 💖 🙆🏻♂ 💕

I cry every time he sings that song. Dimash portrays the event so beautifully. All the emotions are there on his face, in his voice. There is no doubt, even without English subtitles that he sings about a tragedy. Only Dimash could put all of that together in such a heartfelt way. Thank you, thank, you thank you for everything you said!! I could probably write a book on some of my same opinions you were sharing about Dimash's level of artistry. I hesitate to even bring up the fact that i have autism.... however in this case it is relevant. Sometimes (who am i even kidding! A lot of times) people dont like talking to me because i gelt super excited about my "hyperintrests" 😅. I totally get that and it's part of understanding who I am. However, Dimash is worthy of being anyones hyperintrest; so when i try to introduce my family or very few friends.... it hasnt been a much of a success unfortunately. BUT I am also an artist and was a classically trained vocalist for 8 years. and have done a lot of research (autism 😂) on psychology, personality and temperament. Dimash is thought to have an extremely high.INFP-A personality profile. If you ever have a chance to read about it.... it totally explains so much!!! I am a big believer in science but also am a big believer in spirituality too; and i know that that is a huge factor in Dimash's life and that if his family. He was raised with very traditional values of kindness, loyalty, pureness of heart, and Servitude. In his personality profile, every decision he makes, he is driven by his moral compass and cannot feel "ok within himself" if he isn't listening to those guiding principles. I do know this to be true because i am the same profile. Lol it is actually nic-named "Authenticity." The world was Blessed by God with this beautiful man's incredible gift that isn't just his voice. His voice is only one of his masterful tools; just like Leonardo da Vinci, or Michelangelo. I agree that there are many phenomenal and magical voices in the world.... however his talent is not just his voice. It is far beyond just that instrument.
