www.AdamTheWoo.com - PLEASE SUBSCRIBE - Arabian Nights was one of the best dinner shows in central Florida . After being closed almost a full year I decided to check out if anything was left . When I arrived I was surprised to see a couple of the doors were not only unlocked but also open. As I wandered around looking for any form of life , I found it even more bizarre was that the lights and water were still working. Such an amazing piece of history left alone . Enjoy !
Also check out my daily vlog channel . New video every day.

I worked there for 8 years as a server/bartender, right up until they closed. Those were some if the best years of my life. I can answer a couple questions... The red lights were for when the evil prince (who was later replaced by an evil sorcerer) would come out and be all menacing. During that part of the show, there was a lot of fog, and backlights would come on to reveal a painting of a monster that covered that whole area. Also, regarding the "who's this" bulletin board, those were just pictures some of our waitstaff as kids. The one you zoomed in on was Manny Barrios. Now you know. :-) I'm a huge fan, Adam. Thanks so much for making this video, it made me sad and nostalgic at the same time.

Erin Lett Not having seen any of his other videos, I'm still going to say this is completely ridiculous. His "revelatory" comments about the signage and what's been "left behind" are ridiculous. He's acting like it's been abandoned for decades, not less than a year. I don't know if I can even finish watching...

The red lights are for the performers to be able to maintain their night vision. The surrounding areas of the arena are cloaked in darkness so the arena floor can be a focal point. The red lights don't interfere with the arena floor.

The reason why this place shut down sounds almost too stupid to be true, they raised ticket cost to try to gain more money to upgrade and improve certain things, but the increase in ticket cost meant less people attended, then instead of lowering the ticket cost to get people back (or more people to attend) they raised the price again in order to keep it running with less and less people going, and believe it or not, the less the people came the more the ticket prices went up. Like I said, sounds too stupid to be true.

The first time I went to Florida I saw the building from outside at night. I was amazed to find that many kinds of things built to entertain people in one place like there is in the tourist Orlando area. The Arabian Nights building stuck in my memory... and now I found it here. This was a great video.

Little known fact, Adam's sidekick Beth Vandal rode in the show at Arabian Nights as a teen. If you have seen the show, she played the "plant" in the audience who is a tourist asked to ride and gets hauled up in the air off the horse and pants rip.Always the comic.

Adam, been watching now for more than a year. I think you know that your videos become way more interesting when you can add some history, and back story, to why a place became the way it is. Otherwise, an abandoned building is just an abandoned building, until you tell us about the history, then it goes from curious, to INTERESTING. I see you are doing more and more of that, keep it up, I find that interesting! Additionally, I bet in most cases, your videos will become the last word on a place, so what you say and do, will be what history remembers!

I find it weird how much stuff they just left inside for a place that was announced it was going to be closing, like the microphones and the wheelchairs. Also random empty bottles of soda? Uh what they didn't bother to do one last cleaning, and store up the good stuff? Also the bag looked like it was full of banana clips for hair.

useless1997 My wife and her parents and I went there a year ago. It wasn't run down even until it closed, it was all about money. The owner said he wanted to keep prices low, but unfortunately, costs kept going up, so he lost money on it.

Fortunately he seems to have gotten all the horses rehoused. Seems a darn shame, it looks like it was super neat when it was in business.
@uselessDM
@uselessDM 10 лет назад
Well, could still be the problem that he lost money because of old equipment. I'm not talking something like chairs, but in the video it is mentioned that the kitchen equipment looked very old and basically all of the tech looked very old, so I guess it was expensive to maintain and should have been replaced. This is just speculation, but it seems logical to me.

hey, adam! didn't look like you saw this part, so i'll just let you in on a little known fun fact: did you know that across (or was it next to?) the stadium from where the balcony was, as yet a secret room that was closed off by dark tinted glass (it was basically a room for "special guests")? i know, becuase i actually got to sit in that room. here's how the story went: i was in the 4th grade at the time, and i had been to arabian nights (and dixie stampede before then, which i only got the pleasure of going to once, during the summer of 2004) one year before the year my class went on a field trip, and i remembered how i was extremely allergic to the hay dust that the horses kicked off. i would even start sniffling & hacking if i was nearby a horse that was being brushed. (note, i'm not allergic to horses, but i am allergic to the hay-dust that they pick up & kick off). keeping that in mind, i let the teacher know about it, and she tried to figure out what she could do about it to keep me from getting sick again. so she soon found out about the secret room (again, it was either across or next to the stadium from where the balcony was. i don't remember hwich it was, though), and i got to eat there & hear the actors speak & sing through vents & speakers. i even got to meet 2 or 4 of the actors/actresses themselves, as they walked in to say hi! in the end, i still got sick from my allergies, but not as much sick as i got the first time i went to the show. just felt like letting you know about it! :) andrew (aka "heathinvader")

Creep Factor is correct about the red lights. If the performers were back stage in normal lighting when they went out into the arena their eyes would not adjust quickly enough to see properly. That is the same reason a pilot of a small plane will use a flashlight with a red lens to read maps while he is flying at night. It allows you to maintain your night vision while still being able to see what you need to see with the light.

Arabian Nights, longtime dinner show, closing Dec. 31 Arabian Nights, the Kissimmee dinner show with performing horses and a royal story line, will close at the end of December after 25 years of entertaining tourists and residents, owner Mark Miller announced Friday.Miller said the attraction’s revenue could no longer support the kind of show he wanted to present. “Unfortunately, we have reached a point where the marketplace demands a cheaper product than we can provide,” he said.www.orlandosentinel.com/travel/attractions/theme-park-rangers-blog/os-arabian-nights-dinner-show-closing-20131129-post.html

The lights could have been two things. Depending on the acts the red lights could have been special lighting to calm the animals before or after a performance. The lights also could have been for special areas where performers were. the lights would act as shade for them to get ready without being noticed as white lighting would have done. It is also a way to prepare for dark areas letting your eyes adjust before entering or leaving an area.

Those "metal cabinets" look more like sideways lockers. Also why exactly would you leave the lights on in an abandoned place? Wouldn't that crank up the electricity bill?

The power was probably left on for security and/or Realtors to show the property. There is probably a guy who walks through the property from time to time and makes sure everything is OK.

This is so sad.. I used to go there all the time as a kid. Still have a picture of my mom holding me out front and everything.

The red lights allow no disruption of your night vision for instance on a boat or ship in the night time the bridge is lit so sea don’t lose your night perception.
