That wreck loads up with wahoo in December. I've taken them on fly rods. The Araby is getting dived pretty heavy by commercial divers now. It gets hit weekly when the weather is good.

Had a feeling you were going to thump that big Reef Donkey. I ve been watching your channel again and I like to see what species I can spot and I D. I have a few friends that rec. dive and have asked them questions coming from watching your channel with limited success. I really didn't know it was possible to dive the depths you do using scuba gear. I've wondered if you have to use different gas mixture such as helium mix after certain depths and some dives it appears you are alone and does it not worry you something could slip in on you as you are occupied with searching for next target. I guess if you were you d have a partner or like me be watching someone else diving LOL. Awesome spearing Stay safe .
He goes after Gags 1st , and then other types if he has the time . The Gags will disappear fast from any location so you got to be selective or they are gone . On the deeper dives he normally only has about 3-4 minutes MAX on the bottom to get whatever he can , or it adds lots more stops to decompress on the way back up .
@dan I was pretty shocked when I saw you were diving the araby.. you drove your boat all the way south for that? I love fishing that wreck usually a lot more Africans and blacks on it .. every heard of a wreck called the phosphate ?
Hello Mr. Dan I am a person who loves diving fishing and I have been following you well for years. May I ask you a question to inquire about something you use in fishing while diving... What is that piece that you attach to the tip of the spear and hit the fish with? Does it contain a specific detonator to do this fast effect on the fish? Please answer, and thank you very much
He uses a Powerhead loaded with a 7.62x54R rifle cartridge . That is a .30 caliber bullet but he has the casings he has made for him honed to .32 caliber so it will not cause as much damage to the fish . He has a local machine shop make his Powerhead casings for him , and he adds the rest needed to make the Powerheads himself . With the big rifle cartridge the Powerhead will still have enough balls to work great even on his deeper dives .
Dan, are you going to the St Pete Open? I'm going up with a couple crews from Ft Myers and we all want to meet you if you will be there! lets get in touch
You never know what will be down there until you show up . Dan keeps records so he will know what HAS BEEN down there on previous dives to same location , and he does not visit the same place again for some time .
