I ended up going with the contour-x because I live in a very hot humid environment all year round, and I think it has superior airflow with the forehead vent
Great video, very comprehensive. 👍 Is this the Diamond White or just the regular White colour? Looks like the plain solid gloss white but its very hard to tell the difference online, as in person I've noticed some plain white helmets have had small sparkly bits through it, many thanks. :)
The composite that Arai uses combines fibreglass, kevlar and some other stuff that lets the shell absorb as much impact as possible, relying less on the EPS foam inside the helmet for shock absorption. Carbon is usually lighter in weight and has a high rigidity, but does not absorb as much force as composite shells, thus many consider composite shells to be safer.
Thank you, we do prefer 4 outer shell sizes. This is because a helmet that comes in 4 shell sizes is not only safer, but it also fits more compactly around the head and it has a nicer appearance.
It is becoming more common that you need a FIM certified helmet to race at a race track. But this is not yet the case everywhere, so it is wise to find out if you need a FIM certified helmet at the race track you want to race at.
