When I got this game, I remember asking a friend "he's just like Zato, right?" and my friend just looked at me with this 1000 yard stare and replied "no"
As someone who gravitates to the wierd characters in fighting games, i can say that Arakune is what happens when you turn the "monster" of monster characters to 11 How to be Arakune 1:go apeshit
From what I've heard, they did that. Several times. Arakune is infamous for flip-flopping between the top and bottom of the tier list across the like a dozen full games and who knows how many patches due to the devs' failed attempts to balance him. It's almost like making such a bizarre character also have a very direct "I Win" mode had horrible knock-on consequences! But ArcSys NEVER made any decisions in the first game that trapped them in permanent balance nightmares! Isn't that right, Nu-13? Or is she Lambda-11 this week?
@@pyromaniacforhire Ah yes, I forgot about the other two Sayas involved in this convoluted mess of a plot. Because there just weren't enough of them already! Somewhere in introducing all these extra Sayas, though, they kind of forgot to give the "original" ones - Ragna's Saya and the one in the god-machine - any screentime or character development whatsoever. Because somehow this series got LESS coherent after the time loops stopped!
From the perspective of someone who has played very very little blazblue, but a ton of other fighters, i have absolutely no idea what's going on when arakune is on screen.
Arakune is an evasion based zoner with a gauge gimmick. If he hits you with specific attacks, the gauge goes up. If the gauge hits max, Arakune can spawn bugs to attack you with every button press, alongside his normal attacks and he gains access to a powerful super to help keep up the pressure. Getting in this state often means death for the opponent with only two outs: One, Arakune cannot spawn bugs when being hit and Two, the gauge does not last for a very long time. One of the reasons people hate him is because he’s a massive knowledge check for both players and he relies heavily on fake outs with almost no tells other than player behavior. His movement is so jank it works to his advantage. Characters are basically defined in part by how well they can out zone him. He’s the best designed character in the game.
@@itz_mattqsg2454 I main him. If my posts get him nerfed, t̷̯̲͂̐͝h̴̘̱̳̄́a̸͓͖͑t̷̟̞̮͋̓̈́ ̵̬̎͊̅ọ̶͚͒̑n̵͖̺̰̄l̶̙̻̈́ỳ̵͉͋ ̷̫̝̗̆̋m̸̟̟̐͗å̶̦͆̓ķ̷͓̇̿ë̴̻̞́̐͒͜s̴̬̳̆͊͋ ̸̨͖͐̈h̵̟͇͊i̷̤͛ͅm̸̢̤̈́̾ ̵̺̲̗̏m̵̢̝̫͠ó̵͎̘̺r̷̥̝̼̓̿ȩ̸͔̀͑͠ ̶̛͖̘̃p̷̳̈́̓̕o̸̮͗w̶̧̤͋̕e̴͇̭͗̉r̴͈̣͖͐f̶͙̦͔͒̓͐ủ̴̧̘̥̾͒l̷̞̣̊ͅ.̴̧͓̲͛̇͋
Arakune is a character that I call 'Mind of a Madman' Archetype. You have to be insane to main this character, but if you master him, he's so ridiculous.
He feels like the type where you're with friends, piss drunk and you have a line or two up your nose and you get that one round where you ruin some poor bastard and one of your friends starts filming on his handy halfway through and you never manage to get anywhere close to ever again
YEAH! Character design is so cursed it caused the creator to leave to newer, more Arakune less, ventures. Hopefully he makes another character that is equally/more cursed to play :)
i love this guy! Thankfully, i'm not good at him yet, so my friends still didn't develop hate for him But they are trash at the game so they sometimes get upset anyways :(
arakune stands in defiance of both god and man, he is hubris untethered, he is a taker of joy and harbinger of darkness, he is proof of mans apparent willingness to go against natural world and foster creatures and horrors beyond the wildest visions of our kinsmen, he is the unnatural.
It's strange, but one of the things I like most about Arakune is how bouncy his precurse stuff is. Him and Amane are the main ones who have this, but just watching the enemy get pingponged around the screen is endlessly entertaining. It fits well with the "flying puddle of goop and pain" bit he has going on.
