While staying in Taupo at Lake Taupo holiday resort, we went and viewed the releasing of the dam at Aratiatia Rapids.
This occurs several times a day in year round and is quite a popular attraction it seems!

Watched this vid a few months ago and finally today I drove down from Auckland to Taupo for the weekend to this and it didn’t disappoint so thanks for the heads up and the chance to see this

no worries, the siren was absolutely piercing there, even though we were expecting it, it still gives you a shock. With all the pre warnings that are done before water release, it amazes me people still drown there.
