I love the fact that you guys reacted pretty much the same way I did (as an Indian and a native speaker of Telugu) despite our... at this point I don’t know if I should call them “differences” :) Although this scene is so raw, pure, escalates too quickly (and beautifully), carries a shock value of being the “cold” open for the movie and the director (Trivikram) being one of the most creative ones (off and on), it’s still pretty amazing how it carried us both through the same rage levels lol.
The guy you thought of as villain is the main villain, on contrary he lived through that till the end of the movie. The dialogue said by villain was "that scream sounded so innocent, is it Narapa Reddy's (father character of Jr.N.T.R) son?"
NTR decides violence should stop with him, he will leave the village for good, villain will still be alive and come to know NTR is in a city and tries to attack again, NTR kicks them and formally meets Villain’s son and convinces him for peace, but Hearing that Villain kills his own son and NTR kills the Villain ..
Actually the director wanted to show how horrific war is.....the hero understands how the females suffer due to this killing and hence sets out on a journey of self discovery and a solution to stop the factionism in thise villages.....the solution he provides is quite creative in the end

Early in the scene the villain actually says "Kootha (cry) lethaga(Youthful) vundi, Narapareddy Biddaa(Son)??" which Translates to "The cry(after getting stabbed) sounds so youthful, is he Narapareddy's son?"
