I just wanted to say, a year or so later after uploading this video, I had no idea it would get so many views. It got copyright claimed from the song in the intro, I saw this when I uploaded it, and thought "meh it will barely get any views anyway". Here we are, many many views on a 47 min long video later, and I haven't made a penny lol. Don't get me wrong, I love that the message is getting out there. BUT if you would like to sub to my Patreon... even if just for a month or so, I'm doing BTS stuff on there, or grab some merch:

I wanted to get into the actual numbers and legality behind MLMs in this Rant & Rave... why companies like Arbonne, Avon, Younique, Amway, Lularoe, Herbalife, Juice Plus, Young Living, Beachbody, Cutco, Forever Living, Isagenix, Scentsy, doTerra, and Nu Skin get away with scamming people in schemes that are legal, but actually worse than illegal pyramid schemes.
I didn't intend for this video to be this long... there's just so much to say!

About Arbonne.....I remember being invited to a “gathering” in 2006 where I could sample or buy all these Arbonne products. And *no pressure or anything,* but I could also give them $300 and have my own gatherings....I ended up just buying the tea tree oil shampoo and conditioner, which honestly I LOVED, but I remember being surprised at how difficult it was to buy them again! I couldn’t just go online and buy it. I had to find a “consultant” that might be placing an order soon and give her cash and we’d eventually meet up to get my shampoo and conditioner. I’ve had drug deals that were way easier than that. It shows how the scam, ironically, isn’t geared toward simply selling a product, because it’s too easy to do that these days!! No, it has to be this due-paying membership hierarchy where the “product” is really just people with a phantom carrot being held out in front of them of getting their own due-paying members...ugh
@monstarpdr4764
@monstarpdr4764 4 года назад
The purchasing process is no longer this way. You can get all the products online now with a small, simple membership fee. For me it's easy. And the ordered product arrives in 5-7 days or sooner if you pay more for shipping.

We happened to be back in the hometown on the same weekend, he called out of the blue and asked if we could meet for coffee at Dunkin Donuts. Within thirty seconds of meeting he was trying to sell me a monthly vitamin supplement subscription. I guess he was an MLM for Lifer.

The thing I hate the most about MLM's is that you cannot leave them (and stop paying the monthly fee, whatever it is) without talking to someone above you in the network. This predatory practice makes it so that they can just talk you into staying, and if you don't have thick skin, it's extremely hard to leave. It's almost worse than religion because you can't just quietly leave and disappear... They'll continue to take your money if you don't actually quit.
@Cabronosidad

My wife's a Regional Vice Presidents with the white Mercedes and all! Everything you're saying in the video... She's been trained/brainwashed to dispute! They have weekly meetings and quarterly "Arbonne Retreat" to dispute facts and common sense. It's been hard on our marriage and relationships with family and friends. At the RVP level, understand we're financially much further behind after trips and expenses. So what am I left with? A broken marriage, broken friendships and a team of "Arbonne Cult Members" that will dispute anything myself, family or friends say.

I was on a flight to Gold Coast, Australia where an arbonne convention was being held. There were at least a dozen arbonne representatives on the flight talking VERY loudly. I overheard that one of the woman on the flight, a professional singer, sung at the Las Vegas convention. When asked if she was paid to perform at the show her response was, ‘No I didn’t get paid because obviously it’s such a privilege, so performers aren’t paid.’ The group of women with her were agreeing about how much of a privilege it was and how lucky she was. A privilege to perform for free? Lucky to not get paid to do your job? 🙄🙄

The thing I find disgusting about a lot of MLMs is how they push diet/lifestyle things aimed specifically at women. Because they know that a lot of stay-at-home-mums desperately want a bit more autonomy, but don't either can't go back to work because of the time they need to for the kids, or because their career has taken an absolute nose dive because of their sacrifice so they can't find the work they want.

I had my MLM cult, my ex wife had her christian cult. we both were forced to endure the capitalistic cult. I am glad metaphysics has given me the tools to finally make spiritual journeys without books or anything else. Metaphysics can be a cult if you follow fools or false guru's. but at the same time...metaphysics is more honest and enabling. Perspectives are hard. I looked thru the eyes of a spider when i was 6

My parents fell for an MLM when I was a teen. It was to sell a round coaster shaped glass with groves and a small device you attach to a straw that were meant to “rejuvenate” your drinking water. A close family friend fell for it and convinced my VERY poor family to somehow scrounge up the then 70,000 Naira, if I remember correctly. We were barely able to meet our day to day needs back then and though not a huge sum, that money would have done so much for us. Looking back they were desperate for a miracle. Thankfully I can take care of them now 😌 I remember the glossy books filled with beautiful Caucasian models drinking, showering and even sleeping with the products 😂 I remember wondering how a piece of glass could change the structure of water, even as a little teen that read science books for fun. It claimed to even aid healing cancer along with some dieting (the dieting part I’m not sure I remember correctly). I did live in Nigeria and attached some validity to the detailed but somehow vague “reviews” and testimonials because I thought western governments had much better regulations to prevent people from straight up lying about “health” products. I don’t remember how it ended but we made no money for sure, not for lack of trying

My back broke out in a red rash and pimples. When I asked the girl that sold me them about the rash, she said that was the product 'removing the toxins from my body'. I don't think I even lost much weight on it, maybe just a few pounds, never again! I'm now eating a healthy, balanced diet and exercising every day and I've went down 2 dress sizes! I was a size 18, I'm now a size 14. Good nutrition and exercise is the only way to lose weight in a healthy way, there are no short cuts that will lead to healthy weigh loss and maintaining the weight loss x

I had a girl come into the coffee shop I worked in and she would always compliment my hair and then one day she asked me if I would be willing to let her take pictures of my hair for some kind of beauty team she was involved with and I told her she could. I am the type of person who really struggles with the phrase, “no”. She ended up coming into my place of work with her team manager and proceeded to construct a job pitch for Arbonne! I had no idea this was about to happen. During my lunch break, in my place of employment! My boss was so pissed, not at me, but at them. I should have known when she previously invited me to a get together of “young, new women in the community” at a local restaurant. I didn’t go, but I should have seen it coming that this was a MLM thing. I told her that this was out of line and that to set up a “job interview” under false pretenses without my knowledge was shady. I was proud of how much I spoke up for myself and told her off. But then... She apologized and offered to make up for it by putting together a little party with some of my girlfriends where we could try out arbonne products!!!!!!.........WTF?!?! These people see every single interaction and relationship as a potential recruit or sale. It cheapens every friendship and encounter. It makes my skin crawl to imagine what these people are like at family reunions or holiday gatherings. It’s shameful. I would feel so ashamed having to do this. No amount of money is worth your dignity and the dignity of your friends, family and acquaintances. People aren’t people anymore, they are just dollar signs waiting to be filtered into your creepy “girl boss” cult and ripped off. I understand why stay at home moms are targets of this and why they feel drawn to this kind of thing. I get it. It’s a community of other women offering a way to help provide for your family while also being able to stay home and raise your children. It ticks a lot of boxes for things that stay at home moms feel are missing in their lives. But, in the end, it always ends up taking far more than you get out of it. It’s like the mafia, you are just a pawn to recruit new soldiers that take on all the work and risk while people at the top sit back and rake in the dough. This shouldn’t even be allowed.

As someone with tricky skin which is also hard to shade-match in the drugstore, discovering higher-end foundation was a game changer. However, that’s stuff I can buy from a reputable vendor who has a variety of products for me to choose from. My neighbor selling me one product? No more likely to provide a product that works for me than my mother was when she bought me CoverGirl in the same shade she wore when I was in high school and we both cluelessly believed for many years that the reason I always looked orangey was because I couldn’t put the makeup on right! (For non-beauty people, foundations even from the same company can have a range of features - viscosity is a big one, but sometimes it appears to be some obscure non-obvious properties that appear to react to skin via spooky alchemy or the like - that can make them virtually apply themselves perfectly to one person’s face and then start almost instantly separating on another’s face, even if they’re using the same bottle on the same day at the same time. There’s a reason that even a respectable grocery store beauty section has multiple brands and lines-within-brands. Anyone who tells you one foundation formula will definitely work for everyone is either lying or clueless)

I enjoy videos like this. I was so delusional in my early 20s and wish I could go back and avoid this MLM phase in my life. I hope people see the deception and avoid these companies like the plague. Great job breaking all this down!

The lady spouting off about an Arbonne avalanche is who someone took me to hear speak a few years ago. She’s a very good public speaker. She has that whole vague self help motivation that hypes you up for a bit but once you come down you realize they didn’t say one valuable or actionable thing. Listening to her swindled me into trying Arbonne a few years ago which was disastrous mistake. I still cringe every time someone mentions Arbonne and desperately try to hide the fact I was ever conned into it. The cult tactics are so real. They completely manipulated me and I always thought of myself as so rational and level headed. It’s all just a facade. You are told to act like you are living this lavish lifestyle when in reality not even Arbonne Avalanche lady is making the kind of money she wants you to think she does. There’s so many just down right scammy things I would have to write a whole dissertation to elaborate. Great video, you did a ton of research here.

I was an Arbonne consultant and you are spot on with your information. I spent a lot of money, only sold to myself, my upline told me the best way to sell would be to send out a lot of samples, so I spent hours stuffing envelopes and driving around town to give people free product. This company preyed on people's fears. Their products are paraben free and parabens cause cancer, so you NEED to buy their products, which are insanely expensive. I knew right away this was a scam. My upline was reorganizing sales so I moved up in rank the first week. Then, she posted all over social media how I was rocking my business. Huh? Such. A. Scam!!!

My best friend sells Arbonne, so I've tried everything pretty much for free. (Lmao only because she had to buy the 30 day challenge in order to post her shakes and stuff on insta) and I can honestly say, every single item is so mediocre it hurts, I hate they sell it so expensive because it is not worth it.

With all these ex mlm videos, I wouldn’t be surprised if they take a page out of Scientology and make new recruits sign a non disclosure. I’m not a legal expert so I don’t know how legal that would be. It doesn’t stop some cults.

J O B - Just Over Broke. While some people may not agree with MLMs, JOBs also may not put you in a good position. Bottom line, we as a society should be adding value to people's lives, and if it's via a job, great. If it's via network marketing, great. The key is to carry yourself with integrity, respect, and with a genuine care for whomever you come in contact with.

kurly kween that is not necessarily true. I used to work for a legitimate company that had independent distributors. Those people had to buy the demo equipment and products and re-sell them. HOWEVER, in that type of setup the distributor generally has an exclusive territory, OR at the very least a limited numbers of distributors in the territory. No legitimate company has sales people or distributors who are tasked with recruiting other distributors or sales people that will directly compete with them in the same territory. That’s how you know that the “distributors” are actually customers in the MLM schemes.

My sister has basically ditched me and my sisters after trying to tell her the truth about it, and has neglected anything important because of Arbonne!! This MLM is a glorified Herbal Life but destroys lives in the same way! That fact that sooo many people are sucked in! Saddest thing ever. RIP to the people you used to be before becoming an “Arbonite” 😭

I had a friend who’s mum sold this brand but I didn’t think anything at the time because I was literally 8. When I was friends with her daughter, my mum had breast cancer and she sold my mum a bunch of their make up just to say that their makeup was used by cancer patients. I’m no longer friends with her daughter and we have no contact with that family.

Have you got any insights into why companies like these are so heavily weighted towards women being conned more than men into joining? I've had maybe 50 people in my wide circle of associates get into MLM style schemes and every single one was a woman. P.s. thank you for the term 'Hun Megatron'
@CaptianKatsura
@CaptianKatsura 2 года назад
This is mostly just my assumptions based on things I've read from people who know more than me, but there are a couple reasons women are more likely to join MLMs than men. The biggest reason is related to gender roles pushed by society: men are supposed to work while women stay at home. So men are typically too busy working a real job to have the time and energy left to deal with joining an MLM. Women, on the other hand, have plenty of time if they're not part of the workforce. Additionally, for these women stuck at home living the unfulfilling housewife stereotype, the promises of MLMs (being an "opportunity" to start your own "business from home") are incredibly appealing. Plus since housewives tend to spend time together, the moment one joins the others have to choose between joining and ostracization. TLDR: Women tend to be dissatisfied with their lives when they follow society's expectations for them, and MLMs promise them a better, more fulfilling life without uprooting their current way of life. (This promise is a lie)

My friend joined Arbonne and I bought some product. (The shake, fizz sticks, and digestion plus.) I’m using it right now and it’s not a bad product. However, I really think I can find those same type of products somewhere else. I feel bad buying it knowing the toxicity of the company. I’m going to have to tell her that I’m not buying more and I hope we will be okay.
