I honestly think this is best, and I love all their albums. It's a record only they could make, and kind of a culmination of all the musical and lyrical themes they've addressed so far in their career (I.E. loss of innocence from Funeral/Suburbs, how technology distorts images and relationships from Reflektor, and a lot of the rara music cues from the latter). It's a shame it hasn't got its due yet, but I think it will. Most influential albums drop with VERY polarized reviews (and I don't mean 1/10 or 10/10, I mean a lot of EN's reviews were either like a ~5/10 or 10/10, and it was similar for Bowie's Low, Radiohead's Kid A, and Sgt. Pepper's, and similarly, all these albums were pigeonholed in those reviews by the works preceding them, which is a terrible way to judge an album. Judge it on its own merits.)

I love that at 1:21 the hi-hats resemble the ‘kissing’ from the lyric. I think this could be considered ‘prosody’, or when the music matches the lyrics meaning (got this from David Bennett Piano).

I don't think people understand the lyrics. It talks about how everybody would love to return to their childhood and stop death. This song shows us how people are truely afraid of death and of diseases and how they want to believe in something that doesn't exist, Peter Pan.

at first listen i was kind of sketchy with this album, it has all kind of weird sounds, such as the melodies in this song's chorus. tbh, i don't know why the record is getting so much hate. i feel like this is why i like arcade fire so much: they always experiment with their sound and push me through things i never thought i'd like. i got the same weird vibe i got when first listening to this song and others on the records as i got while first listening to "intervention" or "here comes the night time". i feel like with time people will realize that this was a good album (perhaps not their best, but good anyways) as arcade fire songs are more designed to grow on you then to be radio-friendly. at least that's how i feel about it.

Geez people!! To the ones that are judging this album on the day that it dropped, Just my opinion but how much do y'all know about music or lets say good music? And this is another opinion personally I think the album is fuckin awesome and it hasn't even been a week or two, I say that in the since of that's when you really connect with the music and how it fits in, or to your life. AC is a one of a kind and will go down as one of the greats and another personal opinion but sounds like they did exactly what they needed to, to stay on course as one of the greatest bands ever they reinvented themselves and their music while still being Arcade Fire.

This song is getting a lot of negative feedback. While I agree that the new album as a whole has some significant weak points, it is very good in some spots (Everything Now, Creature Comfort, We Don't Deserve Love) and is charming if not superficial in others (Peter Pan and Chemistry). Arcade fire has been revered for its willingness to try new sounds and for the most part they have made them all work, still it's to be expected that there will be some that are not as great. Its just unrealistic to expect that every album is going to completely blow your socks off. Finally, given that this album is about 10 hours old I think it deserves more time to ferment. I for one was not initially impressed with Reflektor when it first came out but after a while I came to realize that it is a great album.

Imo is their most controversial album. Everyone loves Funeral. Everyone agrees that Ready to start is great. Everything now is different. Everyone has 3 tracks that hate and three that loves. For example i think peter pan is borderline garbage. Electric Blue is PURE garbage. But i think Chemistry is absolutely great. Same goes for We dont deserve love. And half the comments are "Well surely X is good but Y is very bad!". Isnt that great?

@@akumajack1813 Yeah I think that's the sign of a future critical reassessment. The only track I'm not totally on board with is Chemistry but I get what it's going for (satire of consumerism through the veil of a love song - the irony being the product and consumer do not have natural chemistry and this is why the shift between the verses and choruses are so jarring).
