Arcade Games at Home with Super Retro-Cade - Unboxing and Review | RIGGS 

I am LOVING the Super Retrocade system. I don't have the option of buying original classic arcade cabinets or expensive Raspberry Pi equipment. With a Super Retrocade, an Android smartphone, and some help from the Maddlittlepixel community I've got several hundred classic games loaded onto my Super Retrocade and it's a blast! There's even a couple joystick controllers that work with it so folks like me can ditch those SNES style controllers and play joystick games with an actual joystick. Thanks for all the help and keep playing classic games!

Wow, I just stumbled across this channel, instant fan! Like you, I'm in my early 40s. You talk about these games with the same adoration and fervor and it brought back my memories when I was a kid. And, I had to like and subscribed!

I loved that last one "Super Dodge Ball" one.. I completely forgot about that one 30 yrs. ago! I loved that game back then.. I played it all the time!

I'm really glad to see a review of this box. It's a really solid system with zero shovelware, and it's pretty amazing that it comes with games ranging from actual arcade titles to NES and 16 bit console ports. A lot of classic gems there. I do wish you had used the HDMI though, because while I'm sure it probably looks really sweet on a CRT with composite, the effect on the video capture was a horrendous interlacing artifact that I'm assuming probably is not there with HDMI?

I'm with you. I just grabbed one of the 8bitdo controllers and still play with it plugged in. Cords are part of the nostalgia, not to mention they reduce latency! Only problem I have with many controllers is that my hands are huge. I think the 8bitdo controllers could be about double the size they are and would be great for me.

Radical Reggie's favorite game/ hidden gem is "Midnight Wanderer." It's located inside the "3 wonders" game. I have a lot of the games on here that are on the Capcom Classics Collection Remixed/ Reloaded for the PSP that I play on my PS Vita.

Oh I have to get this just for the top down shooters like 1942 which is one of my favourite all time arcade games ever.

I missed the height of the arcade era, so I've never played a majority of these. Still, this looks like a great collection. After reading and watching some reviews, I was convinced to purchase it. I used the promo code, so thank you for that! I'm excited for this. It's been a while since I've played any games like these.

Well, looks like they corrected a lot of major issues from last year's model. If people similarly figure out how to side-load roms via the SD card like they did with the first model, I'll probably grab one of these just to play around with.

Hey, man. I've got the SNES Classic and I can't seem to get it to work with an HDMI to RCA conversion cable. Is that standard or am I doing something wrong?

Is the random shaking the console or capture card?

Hey John, have you been able to get any USB controllers to work outside of the strictly B-grade ones that come with it? I actually like mine (former Pi bro here) but don't find the controllers that come with it up to snuff for games requiring more nuanced movement & response speed. I've tried PS3, PS4, 8BitDo, and 2 of the Retro Bit Dual Links made by the same company - only the D-Pad works, none of the face buttons. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks!

I really want to play that dragon breed game it looks great and shmups are some of my all time favourite games especially when they are top down shooters.

How can you play games like Heavy Barrel & Midnight Resistance which both used the rotary joystick? Is there a special rotary joystick usb controller that you can buy to play all those rotary joystick games on MAME like Ikari Warriors, Victory Road, etc.?

Did you actually test this on a CRT? If so does it take away the interlace and does it fit on a 4:3 screen?

If I didn't have a Hyperspin cabinet with all these games (and 50k more) I would buy the heck out of this. Seems a steal at that price for those who want a good plug and play.

Looks like the "original" video setting is using a 1:1 resolution instead of 4:3, which is causing things to be a bit too horizontally squished.

Well, I'm sold.

The AtGames Legends flashback does the exact same too. It plays NES, Genesis, Gamegear and arcade games. Unfortunately because the game controllers are basically the 9 pin Genesis style, the button layout doesn't accommodate for SNES games so it doesn't play SNES roms.

John, do you think the retrocade can play game boy color and game boy advance roms?

I remeber RetroArch doing their usual thing when they found that it was apparently using RetroArch. It also appears that they're MAME and maybve Higan if they're emulating both NES and SNES - all of those software are GPL'd and can be used in commercial products... or they're using Mednafen which can also emulate MegaDrive (not sure if Medbnafen does NES and SNES) which is also GPL'd. If you go through libretro's statement on all the products they've taken down, they'vbe gotten a lot more conciliatory to Retro-Bit than they have to anyone else, probably the other products they've taken down either were caught bang to rights or were two college kids in France, whereas Retro-Bit are a corporation who can afford people called lawyers and they've already done their due diligence to stay legal. _Dragon Breed_ looks very similar to Jaleco's _St Dragon._ Now there's a game I'd love to see on something like this! Hopefully they can contact Jaleco to licence that! As well as licensing Gang Wars just to expose the world to the hgilarity of that game! I'd probably suggest the _Sailor Moon_ Arcade game for a little girl, girly side-scrolling beat-em-up, why not? (if only it was on there, eh?) or _Shantae,_ the game you're far more likely to encounter as a ROM than as an actual cartridge (if only GBC or GBA emulation was included)

I am super glad to see that they improved the performance, but I wish they hadkept the gameboy games. Still as a plug and play fan it's nice to see something other than Atari games to look forward to.

Just found your channel, your shirt alone was worth it. Awesome, simply awesome. However what's up with playing with the AV cables? Is this like oh I must listen to vinyl even though it's super inconvenient?? Lol

The only tiny issue i have with this is that it doesn't have SNES cotroller ports. That would have been so much better, because the stock controllers, while decent as far as being very responsive, the buttons break or get stuck after some time when you push them down. It's not hard to find other USB controllers that work for this though, so it's not that big of a deal to me. I love my Super Retrocade!!

How is the emulation comparasion with xbox clasic?better? same ? i play everything emulators(Mame,snes,genesis,Nes,etc) on xbox with my PS2 control XD, This console looks great is Nes and Snes MIni togetter! The usb port suports another controler like Ps3 for example?
