Does anyone else agree with me that, out of ALL the oldschool games in the nineties, Metal Slug X nails that core funky bass style better than all of them?
MetalHearts100 Facts, facts....how about the funkyass bassline in the background, and the extremely rhythmatic style? Show me a piece from your theory of the pinnacle of funky video game music and I will compare thy sounds on a scale of funkitude to determine which one basses out the best.
Most interesting in this game is how rich are the details on the machines... The enemies seems like the Nazi soldiers. Just like a recreation of WW 2 in a game, in a fantasy form. Such a great game, intense, dynamic, and so much fun
I actually got to play this on an arcade machine in this one pizza shop while I was on vacation up near Lake Michigan. I played it because there was a sign on the side that said you'd get a free something-or-other for setting the high score. I managed to set it (probably because they just turned it on and I was the first person to play it), so I ran up to the counter all excited and asked what I got for setting the high score. I got a slice of pizza and a pop. Fucking victory pizza, man.
Oh man, I remember everytime I go to a pizza restaurant whether it be "Cici's Pizza" or "Pizza Hut", I always see this game at the arcade room. That's how I really discovered this genuinely awesome game.
Bonding the soldiers + the hobo man and the player to fight the final boss always makes me emotional and nostalgic af, I always remember crying of happiness after finishing the game with my big brother when we were kiddos, (I’m 28 and he’s 30 nowadays), after watching the whole video it felt the same way after all these years. Such a legendary game. BIG THANK YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS.
I've probably spent more money on metal slug X slot machines than the cost of playstation and metal slug combined when they were new. And I still love this game
Vladimir Gyurov well now you know :) btw they didnt really do much work on metal slug defense. all they did was take all the graphics and characters from the original metal slug games and changed it. its kinda fun but nothing beats the original.
Every time i watch Metal Slug i absolutely astonished by it. By this insane attention to details. Lets take Train level - they could just picture some "schematic" train platforms, bot NO, they gone bananas and even replicated gradients in painting and added hopper wheels. They pictures wagons realistically, even made coupling look like real. Every frame of gameplay can be ogled for many minutes, almost like pixel-art.
I played this when I was 7 or 8 on play station one with my brother. Idk how or why but it randomly popped into my head now that I’m in my 20s. Somehow even remembered the name. Those were some good times tho
I wish there was a way to not pickup items automatically I remember metal slug 3 when you go to space or that mission where you are in that plane thingy and the pickups move around the screen and they occasionally move to the character right when I get a laser gun or something good
He puts the level on easy. In arcades you need much more damage to kill enemys. He almost dont use bombs, because dont have to, but in the "real" game, its mandatory
I remember passing this game only once with one quarter. And also owning all the top scores at the arcade machine at my local laundry place when I was a kid. My top score was in the 4 million.
I never realized just how early you're shown the aliens (First level just after you got the Camel slug). It explains a whole lot, before i had no idea what was goin on.
Final Boss: "Muahaha! Time to meet your doom, puny man!" P1: "Well, there's one thing I know that you don't." FB: "Oh, what's that?" P1: "I've saved up a LOT of bombs..." FB: "OH SHI-" *gets grenaded to death* "...alright, jackass, time for the second form..."
Never played this game but I did play Commando 2 on miniclip when I was a kid. That game was based on this and it even had some of the same SFX from this game.
I remember beating this game in one go & the only audience I had were the mechanics in a body shop I found the original & this one in, it's sad we'll never see times like that again.
