I remember playing this with my dad almost all night in my childhood and getting rekt at the boat part. Feeling a little nostalgic now and wanna play again to relive the glory days of neo geo
Oh God I loved this game. Neo Geo made the absolute best games in the 90s. This one was super long and tough, but fair, if it was on an easier setting you really got your money’s worth.
Absolutely superb play through of one of my favorite games of all time. There would be times where I'd go on a long long boring trip with family to visit relatives just for the fact that a nearby restaurant had a cabinet with this game!
@@nonanimeprofilepic This 2 year old response made me laugh harder than i should. But you have a point. Everything medieval fantasy isn't dark sous. It's just DnD. People need to relax with everything being DS. Take a hard shit after a Burger King lunch they'd call it 'souls like' and add orchestra boss music.
@@TKUltra971 Game play wise it is similar in that there is blocking, magic, different weapons with different properties and a levelling system. This game was pretty ahead of it's time. I'm a bit surprised it wasn't ripped off a bunch.
They had this game at my Local RSL. It used a trackball for movement which was the first time I had ever used one. It was crazy. I want someone to make an indie title in the same vein of crossed swords. I swear i would buy the game 10 times over. Also, that timing at 9:45 with the music. Beautiful.
The King: "Like, hey, dude. Thanks for saving my kid. Wanna come crash at our place from now on?" Man, if I were that knight, I'd _better_ be getting the Ritz! I just carved my way all across Hell's creation to rescue your daughter. You are _not_ making me sleep in some closet of a room with a single twin-sized bed, damn it.
I think that raised eyebrow at the end of his speech implied something else. The dialogue probably inferred a lot more in Japanese or was something completely different like "Bang my hot daughter, you deserve it."
I played this at an arcade on the board walk in New Jersey once. I probably haven't thought about it in 20 years, not sure why I spontaneously remembered it just now.
I loved this game on the arcades, fighting the giant centipedes used to freak me out! Not to mention the creepy music as you're walking through the castle...
The gameplay is very repetitive but I liked it a lot, it doesn't send you to boredom like that other game "The Super Spy". The music is almost identical to "Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder" and I liked it too. I also liked how the game keeps sending you new monsters throughout the game, and the old ones get new moves and new color swaps. Experience system, shops, new weapons, etc. it's great! They say Crossed Swords II is better and I hope to see a playthrough of that one soon. :)
How on earth do you predict where those red winged knights are going to attack every time? They have like no telegraph! In fact, you seem to have your shield in the right spot every time well before enemies are about to strike...
O 99Vidas 358 - 4×4: Blazing Star, Crossed Swords, Cyber-Lip e Magician Lord me trouxe até aqui. O jogo parece meio estranho, mas tenho certeza que teria jogado bastante se tivesse chance de conhecer na época.
Looks like a mix of Punch-Out and the old arcade game Gladiator. Fantastic Engrish. But the highlight of the game has to be the 'proposition' and reaction of the king at the end.
Wow what a fun game. I wonder if the play style of this game would make a good but longer RPG. I just wonder if the play style would get repetive for some seasoned RPG players who are used to turn based games.
Most of the enemies strike at random but some don't. I was actually able to beat this game on my AES in '94 with that one miserable extra guy in stock. Golden winged knights was the most brutal.
You don't even need to download emulators now, they have these games for free playable online- so convenient. I just played this on some retro arcade site, and thought it was a great game. It's kind of impossible to know when to block up or down. Infinity Blade does it better, but personally I like this game more. The graphics were particularly good. I played for a solid hour and a half.
i wish i had such reflexes :( sometimes i get okay, but very very often it happens that i block at "a bit later" so attack is delivered on me. timing is crazy. sequel is more loyal though and has better movements and specials, but this one has so good atmoshpere...
If only they build a entire RPG with this fighting concept, could be a 2D Masterpiece, it was impressive back then, but a bit limited. Shining The holy Arc was a bit similar to this in fighting mode, but not in real time like this one.
Remember this game being hard to find in arcades. Expect my arcade had this for a bit. Not many put the time in it. I never got to play it but saw it a lot. Because of one guy would always play this game. My arcade was a 24 hour asian style arcade. Hard core gamers. In Vegas. I used to go Saturday mornings. Cool place, very dark with just two doors open, as they liked to let breeze in, as you can smoke.. Just a little sign. "Mary K's Arcade" all blacked out windows, and sounds of button tapping's and Street Fighter Alpha. You had to dodge homeless people and hookers to get to the arcade. A Blackjack Dealer that got off work would always play this game. You can always tell by the outfit. He would play the crap out of this game for hours. Just cigarette hanging out of his mouth and a stack on quarters on the machine. Never got to play it
After every boss, the main character suddenly lowers down like they're dropping to the floor. What... what are you doing with the boss on the floor, there, buddy?
