It is just unbelievable how short the game is comparing with how it felt when I was a little kid, felt like a whole movie back then. Every sound fx and music bring me right back to the arcade at the mall. The most precious memories of how wonderful and simple life was.
He's going very fast, most people would move through the levels a bit slower. I have seen videos that are considerably longer and it just feels more enjoyable to watch and a bit more epic in scale like you were describing.
I am SO THERE with you on EVERYTHING you just said! And all those companies (along with Konami, SNK, and Taito) were the dominant forces in arcade games during the 1987-1994 period.
Indeed, until Namco said fuck it all, and came out with Tekken. 16 bit home game systems couldn't render a completely faithful translation/duplication/interpretation of even 2D arcade games, but once the original Tekken came along in late 1994, necessitating the release of the Playstation system, it brought about the beginning of the end of arcade game culture. Yeah, Capcom kept it alive for the remainder of the 20th century with: Darkstalkers (1994); Street Fighter Alpha Warriors Dreams (1995); X-Men: Children of the Atom (1995); Marvel Super Heroes (1995); X-Men vs. Street Fighter (1996); Street Fighter vs. Marvel Super Heroes (1997), and Marvel vs. Capcom (1998)... but the living room duels and campaigns in Tekken 2, Soul Blade, Resident Evil, Tekken 3, Golden Eye, Metal Gear Solid, Perfect Dark, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2 during the same time period on the Playstation, Nintendo 64, and Sega Dreamcast systems were nothing less than paradigm shifting.
Yeh weather it is a tool assisted long play, it was some what???. Confusing, but he should do some cool ass dead or alive next???. That would be👍 Epic 👍...
Ah man defo one of my all time favourite arcade games from the 80’s.. Some great memories as a kid hanging about in the arcades or skipping school to play this in the local chip shop!! The game blew my little mind and was way before it’s time! 👌🏿
were from by saying school and chip shop sounds like uk. in uk you either had arcade games in seaside resort or your video shop or local chippy by the 90s all virtually vanished.
I have been looking to buy this arcade game for years! I loved this and spent many of my quarters to play this game constantly! My all time favorite arcade game! Thanks for this video!
I thought I was a good player for Shinobi until I saw this longplay. You have also done what very few in the world can say they have done: 1. Beat the game on one life 2. Perfect bonus stages 3. End with a score over 300,000 points You did them all in one shot, using only your very first life. Congratulations, and I take my hat off to you, while bowing down to you and saying "I'm not worthy of such greatness!" Outstanding!!!! :)
I remember playing this at 7 eleven in 1990. Love the cool music. Good times. I miss the days of seeing all the arcade machines at the donut shops, laundromat, liqour stores, etc.
Hellwyck ahh interesting. Thanks. My view of the world was quite strange because i thought Jacks (from the game where you bounce the balls into the Jacks) were somehow related to this game because some of the enemies looked like Jacks. It was quite confusing.
Yea, when I was about 7 I was able to beat this game on one quarter and without dying. My friend used to bet people at the pizza parlor. Great confidence builder at the time.
I just noticed something. When Musashi uses ninja magic, he shouts "TERIYAAA!" What's cool about this is that in Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic shouts the same thing in that one scene where he takes out the Egg Golem in the Dark side part of the story. Neat, huh?
What i loved about this was the different colours of ninja, they each had different moves - that fired my imagination as a kid... Especially because you only really see the blue ninja in full action in the last few stages.
Totally agree, multi-coloured Ninja's are such a cool concept, it kind of makes it more story/movie like having the distinct enemies and variations to their attacks.
Right! i could never get past those *Flying Ninjas* in the JUNGLE 12:45 i always wondered how a person was able to figure it out... in a arcade setting Good times :]
It's easy doing that when you use an Emulator with TAS Features. Should be pretty well known by now, that World of Longplays doesn't do legit playthroughs.
1987, the golden age of the arcade started when the graphics of the computers and consoles couldnt compete, Shinobi was among the best hits of its time.
Respect to your ninja skills man. Playing this as an adult and this shit is way harder than I remember! Don't think I ever clocked it and, looking at that final boss, probably never will.
i spent more quarters on this game than any other arcade game ever. $5 in quarters at a time and only made it to Lobster at the end of stage 4. the soundtrack is so nostalgic.
Wow...you ever you are that played this game...you are a champ!! When I used to play this game, I could never get passed the 2nd level!! Whoo-wee! You are good!
I played this game for years on the arcades when I was a kid. Never seen it played so perfectly though. Thanks for the post as I never did see the ending to this game.
Qué recuerdos me trae este juego cuando yo era más joven jugaba en una papelería este juego y gastada bastante monedas en Shinobi fue el mejor juego que yo jugué
One of the best classic games of all time. As soon as I got a Super Retrocade I loaded Shinobi onto it and I STILL haven't gotten a perfect score on the challenge stage! No worries though, it's an awesome classic game. Thanks for the video!
What do you think of its successors such as Shadow Dancer, the Game Gear games, and the 16-bit games? Trying to figure out for myself what the best Shinobi games are.
@@TheDutchGhost Shinobi is the only one I've ever played so I couldn't really give an opinion on the other's. I like the classic, 8-bit stuff pretty much exclusively. Played a couple Wii games once or twice and that was pretty cool. Sorry, wish I could give you some insight my friend. Thanks again for the video buddy!
Finished this on 1 quarter 2 lives back in the day. Was able to do almost all levels without using a throwing star. Except bosses tho. Bought this very version for my Sega master system? I think it was called. One before the Genesis. It was OK for a home system back then. A better game for the master system was Kenseiden I think it was called. Japanese samurai game. Loved that game
Stage 2: So, I'm here to take out the guy flying the chopper? No, the chopper itself is evil. You are fighting an evil helicopter. Stage 5: So, I'm fighting Shrek this time? Yes, Shrek is evil and kidnaps children.
