Aladdin's Castle, Eastland Mall, Columbus Ohio. I spent almost all my tokens on this game. The only one that could lure me away was the Vector Graphics Star Wars X-Wing game. Such great memories!
Our Arcade was called Land of Oz in the Mall. 78-89 Then after about 10yrs it became Aladdin's Castle. Then I got older and it fizzled. Apparently my $10-$20 every two weeks was keeping them afloat?
AN ARCADE IN BROOKLYN....DUNNO WHERE but it had PACLAND...ALADDIN'S CASTLE IN NANUET MALL had this game... I SAW TRON AT MOVIES 5 NANUET (along with a rerelease of THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN.)
when I played as a kid we had 2 people sitting in the booth one would control and the other would aim fire and deflect. We rarely used deflect you can do a fire and deflect aim straight and do a couple of kills.
I used to play this around 1987 in a computergamehall by the sea, one turning button in my left hand for moving the sign on the wall for the direction of the disc you throw and one joystick in my right hand for moving the little man on the circel... Still great game, great memories.. 🙂
I would absolutely LOVE to see either a Nintendo Switch remake or at least a console remake of this game! It was revealed that Discs of Tron was actually slated to be a final level in the original Bally Tron, but due to memory limitations of the time, it was cut as the game would have been too expensive. The remake (not the crappy Legacy for Wii version) could include all levels including the Discs of Tron full game with minor graphical and sound improvements that were in the Discs of Tron Environment version (Sark's voice and the digital valley) and a nod to Legacy allowing the player to flip to the ceiling and play upside down as Flynn did when he faced Rinzler.
This was my absolute favourite game at the arcade in the 80s I played it for years. So great to see this video and well played, although I'd have given you a run for top spot. I've played it on the MacMame and Mame for android platforms recently but the controls are lacking for your aimer which is a shame. Anyway, great vid. Thank you for sharing.
For those early rounds: Right, Left, Middle. Knock that guy off with one throw. Back in the day, I could play for over an hour on one quarter. I'd love to find that game again.
I played this game ONCE in Wichita KS. I was something like 5 points from 100k. The score stayed on the machine in the Town East Mall until the arcade shut down.
Loved this game as a kid ,the only place that had one was the small market up from my house , after theirs broke I never got to play again...I guess I was 12 or 13 maybe I'm 47 now and still think about this game ftom time to time
Sark: You Should Have Joined Me, We Would Make A Great Team! You're Very Persistent, Tron! Tron: I'm Also Better Than You! DISNEY'S DISCS OF TRON! The Arcade Hit From Bally Midway!
I have this game on my XBOX 360!!! In fact, I believe this game IS the Xbox 360 version. The arcade version has the voices on it. This one doesn’t. Still, the game is arcade-perfect!!
Can't help but wonder if Access Software had this game in mind when they made the final stage of Raid Over Moscow...it does remind me of it a lot, though more fast-paced.
You do know that you could move the target up or down, right? Not just around on the same plane? Limitation of your controller vs. the original controls I guess.
Has anyone every made all three pads disappear……? This would be great two player game against each other two sit down cabinets awsome. I used play this all the time clocked it many times. My friend hit all three pads then the game crashed…. You could move the controller up to the ceiling to hit the pads then they would flash and disappear if you didn’t step on to it…..

As someone who played this on a gba emulator for a minigame of Tron 2.0 killer app, yes it's hard to control. It made me respect Tron more being able to survive such a game against multiple programs.
A very rarely seen game at the arcades in the 80's. I believe it was a update to the original 'Tron' game. A remember a lot of hype about 'Discs', being somewhat of a holy grail for gamers in the day...but seeing the play, it appears to be nothing special.
I'm the same thing in this position; whatever happened to the good old days when we use to have, the VG (video game) cockpit models. It's kind of relaxing to have one of those again.
