There was always the thrill of finding a new machine in the arcades that caught you as surprisingly good. It is increasingly hard to have that happen today. It is said that the interest in retro is nostalgia, but how does someone have nostalgia for something they never saw before?
And machines today are all based on winning tickets for cheezy prize redemption or some dummass DDR crap. The one lone vintage machine will be in a dark corner with cobwebs on it 😂
The better way to answer that question is just that they don’t. They can’t have nostalgia for it. Which begs a question another Tuber I really enjoy asked when these first came out. “Who are these for?” Although they clearly act as if their demographic is old farts like me, it’s possible that anyone could want these. These games in this case are timeless, unlike the Atari stuff which some find lame.
I lived on Final Fight in the arcades! But I was new to 1944 (not 42 or 43). I was rocked by how fun it was. Terrific shooter. This is the best collection of games on any of the 1ups so far.
Hey, I’m glad you enjoyed it! And that you found one! I’m game hunting abroad right now and I’m actually seeing some out and about. But back home, they’re very hard to find! I hope you’ll subscribe and stick around for more arcade action.
For sure. I just didn't get mine because I was broke and finally have a little bit of cash now. Sure, I'll subscribe, specifically because your avatar reminds me of Contra. haha! See you(r videos) around! Thanks again!
Hey bud! Sorry to bother you, but did 5ou have trouble screwing in your control board? Yesterday only one would screw (right rear) and now I tried again todsy and unscrewed 8t again and now the left rear one goes in too, but the other two are having a bit o' trouble. Other than that, it's working like a charm and I love it! Thanks for your time, Io
They don’t take up too much space. I was feeling cramped with one a week ago and now there’s 3 in here! So I’m redecorating around em. Downsizing the shelving behind em. Going to one shelf, wall mounted longways above em and then they can line the wall. I will get additional wall grafx for the backdrop. It’s gonna be sick!
I can feel your excitement about this one Mur, this is the other one I would love to have. Sucks about the screen, that is just lost on me. Thanks for the video.
OHH NO! Another one! Seriously though I love Final Fight. Played it a ton in a local arcade back in the day, and still have the snes version. I do think that's probably the best cabinet so far in this second run of releases. Probably why they are so sought after at the moment.
Oh yes. Lol I had to have it! I think people are wanting MK more though. The traffic on that video was ridiculous! Both are pretty hard to find though.
Really badass review my man. That is definitely the one to own for the games and it’s look, definitely not happy about that screen myself. Overall though that is a really cool machine brotha.
This is definitely the unit to buy out of the entire line. Such a perfect variety of great games. I didn't know that 1944 even existed before watching that video.
I played more of 1943 on NES than anything else. But I’d never played this version of 1944. It may be the best looking thing on this unit and I wouldn’t have predicted that.
I’m pretty sure it wasn’t. I would remember a game this perty! It’s absolutely fantastic. I never played a 19xx game in the arcade but I’ve never even heard of the name of this version before.
I'm looking forward to the updated Street fighter cab. The original has 3 games, but I heard there is a 12 in 1 coming soon with different street fighter games, and they are including Saturday Night Slam masters which I'm excited about. As a kid I played Saturday Night Slam masters on SNES. I'm also excited about the Star Wars cab.
I love Slammasters!! Man , I hadn’t heard about that!! I never beat it on difficult for the true ending. On normal, 3 men walk out with tables to fight you but then the credits rolled and it cliffhangered!
I saw your comment on the panel in a notification but RU-vid won’t let me see or respond to it. There’s a comment bug they’re working out. So I’ll respond here. Yeah, my SNES is still the original one I bought. It never yellowed and never stopped working. The GameCube thing was interesting to me and listeners alike, I think. Apparently they’re more prone to disc rot? It syncs up with the fact I’ve had a number of perfect cube discs scavenged that ended up not working when tested. Just another example of Nintendo trying to be unnecessarily different and ergo, difficult.
Hey Emceemur , you seem to been having really bad luck with scratch screens every time you buy one of this . i cant really say the same thing on my end so far. Both MK & Final fight are both lots of fun to re-play through and be able to have them at home to enjoy. For me it was a first time playing the Final Fight cab , and i tell ya its fun. Lots of luck on you next purchase of AC1UP. They seem to mess things up every time.
Well, I can hopefully get a replacement for the FF cab and the rest aren’t too bad. But yeah I don’t think they can guarantee me a good one! Definitely fun playing these games again like this though.
Dude, I can beat Ghouls N Ghosts and my meat at the same time but Ghosts N Goblins? I can get to like stage 3. 1944 looks tremendous. The format and textures remind me of Mercs. It’s fun as hell!
At a Walmart about 35 minutes from home. No option to ship, just located it with my zip code on the website. Otherwise it would’ve just said sold out I bet.
I recieved one of these as a gift and I have played it an ungodly amount. It is just so easy. Just flip the switch and bam, it is easier then the Nintendo Switch
Tylord! Id hold up on Street Fighter. It’s common. Price has dropped so I bet come the holidays, we’ll see some blow out under $200. This year is already flying by 😳
Pixel shimmer!! Is that what I’m seeing?? I swear I saw a wave of color change on Ghosts N Goblins but I partied a lot back in the day so I wasn’t sure! Dang! Huge Robotech fan btw....
I remember seeing Double Dragon, Golden Axe, SF2, all kinda stuff for the first time. Turtles Arcade! I mean this was generation defining shizz and to see it when it was new was a blessing.
Yeah, the podcast’s original sentiments still stand tall. With tax, I have over $800 in these which would buy another real machine. And we have no idea what problems we’ll have with these.
