Great review PD7! I'm still holding out for Shaq. I have that extra 19" BOE monitor to install, and I want the extra height. I plan on doing the retro530 coin doors and black out the front with vinyl wrap.
I bought shaq Jam did a monitor swap and 2 light up coin doors and blacked out front and paid all that under $500. XL is the way to go and closer to original arcade size
I did light up the coin doors with led strips from Walmart for under 5, plugs into usb on top of pcb. Have you added any yet? Probably leaving buttons alone
@@PDX7 yup. I’ve added LED buttons to my Turtles in Time, Simpsons, and X-Men cabs. Added lit coin doors as well. I have blitz still in the box but will be giving that the same treatment. I’m eventually going to get the NBA Jam Deluxe edition. Luckily all of that comes set up with those upgrades 😄
@BlazinAmazin08 I think that’s the entire reason to get the 4 player deluxe. Only thing is maybe raising it up a little higher it’s almost a perfect cab. Blitz will look great next to it!
Hi PhilO, I want to take credit for the tape measuring, remember I used to ask you to measure stuff way back when :). This is a nice looking cab and good sized, looks like progress, no one can say they are not improving regardless. The no speaker covers is not so much the look as the performance, a few holes like that really effects audio compared to having the speakers breathe. Great review.

I have been wanting to order this for a while but the major retailers don’t seem to carry this one for some reason 🤷🏻♂️ It would be cool to see some assembly vids in future videos since some of these can be a pain to put together
Couple things, you can set your cab to where no one can join unless you allow it. Hit live and go to section where it says who can auto-join and set it to no one (at 12:02 mark). Also Reggie Miller wasn't on the original NBA Jam; he was on Jam TE and Hangtime. Malik Sealy was on the Pacers on the first Jam.
That baby is loaded! Put me on the list of people who want to switch out old shark fins for jam deluxe. Maybe instead of the topper, get buy stuff boosters for both blitz and jam. It puts jam deluxe at 64” and blitz at 65” ( i have both but on MK dlx).
Great review and good looking cabinet! If I was to get this I would for sure PC it like I would Blitz if I got it. So I have all the players and functions from the game. I'm just nitpicky and like original things unaltered. lol Well I did some searching and found out that there are different boards for the RoadBlasters cockpit and stand up versions. So the Game Rom board I showed is for the stand up. So I have to find the main PCB motherboard to match, as well as the power supply, audio board etc.. This is going to be fun and take quite a bit of time. lol

What the OG Jam should have been, just like how the new SF2 Deluxe is what the Gen 1s should have been. Speaking of SF2 Deluxe, it would have been nice if the NBA Jam Deluxe had the same height as that one, as at least with the SF2 it doesn’t look out of place with XLs
i just ordered this nba jam deluxe from walmart's website saturday for $599 and had it delivered yesterday and it looks great but can't get the sound to come on when i plug the speaker cord in the back and the marquee sign cord doesn't fit what you plug it into to have the sign lit up. the book save to make sure the sound botton is turned on but the volume knob on the deck is all i see when it ciomes to volume control.
I completely understand Andy, in addition to the review the walk & talk tomorrow is focusing on XL and deluxe 1 more time. After everything gets broken down you may lean one way or another. But it’s a tough call to make, because they’re both awesome:)
order the new Deluxe.....I debated right before Christmas between both ....this is actually easy.....I own the Deluxe and it's 1000% better.....looks better, the coin doors light up which makes it look awesome, monitor is BOE and most importantly the upgraded joysticks make it worth it ....go Deluxe!
The crazy part is I bought the XL JAM and returned it once I saw the crap art and joysticks.....also if u do get a buystuff booster it then becomes a XL
Great review. I’m not jumping on this. Even tho it looks great. I’ll buy when they release nba jam and blitz in XL form then I’ll buy. They prob never will but that’s what I’m holding out for
@@PDX7 Shaq jam is ugly as F. That art is bad. The monitor is terrible, the control panel isn’t slanted and the form factor is wonky. It needs a re design closer to a real midway shape. I would wager if they do a mk xl it will be in a proper midway xl shape and the rest of the midway cabs will be based on that. That being said. I’m not holding my breath ha
This looks really good. I don't prefer light up buttons, but they look great here. With the good marquee, control panel filler, and dual light up coin doors, that's $150 to $200 less in upgrades that a lot of people would probably have done. I have the original Jam, and unfortunately with the money and mods done: Upgraded buttons, Jam T.E. topper, control panel filler, joystick spring upgrade, I'm just going to keep and stay with it. But if I didn't have it, this would be the one to get. At least for me, love everything they have done to it. I do wish the original ones got the blue instruction decal, that's a good touch added to the later ones.
@@PDX7I do like your idea of a Hangtime cab. Loved the side art and marquee on that. Wondering why no Maximum Hangtime on these cabs, it's my favorite version out of all the 2d jam games.
@marcludwick512 I wonder if they did a Hangtime XL they would change it up and put maximum HT on it. Because we all have nba jam, this could get people to buy it.
@@PDX7 Right, I mean Maximum is to Hangtime like UMK3 is to MK3. There has to be a reason it isn't included in all the A1up Jam games. But if they did like you said and include it on an XL, they may have to include regular Hangtime for online purposes so people with the different cabs can play together.
Sweet bro you saved me so much money, as in go for 1 of the actual real arcades instead of these new age copy's, incomplete and only for online usage were these intended for then is what your saying. great to know info. Love your setup totally grats on these they are nice but 1 thing bothers me bout these no matter what game it maybe, they are not the actual size ya feel me, wish that they were they seem mini sized to me always have, the sweet part is that you can chose what game from from what it looks like thats nice! miss the real 1's PACMAN i remember being FLAT played at PIZZA HUT man those were the days, TY FOR SHARING a very cool setup way to go!
I got these 1ups and none of them were up to par with the quality id expect for 500-600 dollars. I finally opted to get a custom build arcade with 10k games and am much happier now 😊
I’m 6’5 I’ve been dealing with custom risers since arcade 1up came out… I hate I have to make sacrifices because I love the light up buttons and lit coin doors but I just have to go with the ugly Shaq XL for the height 🤦🏽♂️
They’ve made it a very tough decision Will. We can always mod Shaq for 220-250 it’s just having to wait until it’s 399 or under to justify the entire process. Thanks for watching 👊
hey forgot to say thanks for all the help but i turned the little black switch on top of the pcb box on back of monitor but still no sound other than the monitor won't come on if you have it switched one way over the other but again thanks for the help
Is it at all awkward next to each other that blitz has a riser and nba jam doesn’t? I like that they’re the same height. I guess the OCD in me is irked by that lol
Honestly I don’t notice it because the 3 I have in the row NBA JAM, Blitz and MVC2 are all the same height it’s just 2 have risers. The reason I bought deluxe and not Shaq is it would’ve looked too tall next to blitz.
@@PDX7 Cool. I plan on buying Blitz and this version of NBA Jam because they are the same height and match up well. I just sold my Sam’s Club version of NBA Jam which matched up next to my TMNT cab. Never liked that the Shaq cab was so much taller than the others. Your video helped a lot. Thanks
@BlazinAmazin08 Thank you for watching 🏀 My Buddy GI Joel is working on a riser that is flush with the top half making it look more like a deluxe. It’s still in prototype, but if we never get deluxe on some of these we can mod it to trick your eye :)
no doubt this is the best jam 1up, i got the og version and put in the same light up buttons and replaced 1 of the old junky sticks otherwise id be interested in this puppy. If they ever make a 2player version of this i might be interested enough to replace my old one to get some space back and upgrade the form factor and marquee for sure.
I don’t know if 1up accounted that when they decided to put this out or just because it doesn’t have a riser. I agree so many of us had or have nba jam and with everything we’ve all done it’s a stretch to buy again. Hope we can play Saturday night :)
Have og Jam so I'm not buying a 2nd. But I'd go with this and replace the side art. It's not TE side art. Makes no sense. I agree I want Hangtime theme. I can do it if I buy all the needed aftermarket stuff. Replace that Blitz side art! So ugly. Arcade Graphix has the real Blitz side art with all teams available. Highly recommend 👌

To be honest I'd skip this game. The gameplay is just plain awful if you play against the cpu. If you get a big enough lead (6 - 10 points), the cpu just takes over. The cpu will not miss a shot and they will just take the ball from you as soon as you inbound it. Then your cpu teamate will play no defense. He won't even cross half court so its 2 against 1. Just plain ridiculous how they designed this thing to manufacture close games no matter what. It just doesn't allow blowouts no matter how good you are. I'm going to sell mine and get nfl blitz instead.
NFL blitz is even worse, I find it easier to beat the cpu than blitz. Basically if you have the ball last will be your only chance of winning. Same concept developing a lead and before you know it it’s tied. I’m going to stream NBA Jam tomorrow night, usually do Saturdays. 9pm eastern, it’s better to play online with and against. Try to give it one more chance and try to jump on.
