One of the most underrated songs and musicians in the history of music. All original members of DD are legends and produced some of the best alternative, pop rock, and new wave music ever.
I remember buying this album So Red The Rose in 1985 and memorizing the lyrics to most of the songs. Great album with songs I still love! Goodbye is forever! Health and happiness all! ✌🏼
I couldn't agree more. A few years ago I kept saying that they should've done a series of intimate small venue shows, playing So Red the Rose in its entirety.🖤 I need an Arcadia follow up album. I still jam SRTR on my drives. Especially in Autumn.
As Arcadia where Simon, Nick and Roger I would like to think JT would be more than happy to play bass on an Arcadia tour as there are some brilliant bass parts on So Red the Rose..
@@mkbashlorthecaredriver9517 I'm sorry for you he has an Italian partner, to be precise she is Sicilian, her name is Nefer, they live together in London 😁😁😁😁😁
Che bello che era il nostro paese in quei tempi. C’era sicurezza, prospettiva, futuro…. a vedere oggi come sono ridotte le nostre città mi viene da vomitare.
Until this day I didn't know that there wasn't anything more shining than Nick Rhodes' smile... I can't even blink...and Simon LeBon was at this best performance, one of his best performances ever!
He still moves pretty well today but back then he was kind of ripping off Daryl halls moves. Go watch, can't go for that and out of touch by hall and oats. Daryl hall was an amazing dancer, great singer and phenomenal piano/keyboard player too.
@@ColtraneTaylor He had his own style but I think he borrowed as many people do. You can see it also in his Arcadia video Election Day. Clearly got some of the ideas from Daryl Hall, not as good as Daryl hall of course. Daryl was clearly trained how to dance and do it all really. Very smart guy.
@@annna6553 Trained to dance? What kind? How about Arena, like in New Religion, where does Simon's moves come from? I've always wondered about those starting dance moves.
I am sick with the flu and this video put a big smile on my face. I was born in 1976, so Duran Duran is my #1 favorite Band. The Arcadia Era with Simon, Nick, and Roger (at the very beginning) was awesome. This video is so cool. Nick was smiling a lot!
Nick dragged that huge Fairlight to this backing track lip sync performance? He could’ve just set up any old synth on a stand and faked it. I guess he actually wanted an accurate representation of the actual gear he used for Arcadia. Nick’s a legend.
From my home town (nick and john) always been a duranie always will be … great to see this especially as simon talks about his next leg on the whitbread race which almost took his and his crews life… Arcadia was fantastic amazing music
I remember being so heart broken when Nick got married. Saw the pictures in a teen magazine when I was grocery shopping with my mom. What devastation for a little girl! lol
Both brilliant awesome amazing nick Rhodes mastermind behind Duran Duran luv um after 40 years plus experience of music 🎵 and this Arcadia project should av been a Duran Duran album
Nick's smile is all the money. Such a gorgeous creature! 😍😍 So glad they eventually reunited with Roger and John Taylor. It feels completely wrong when they are separated from each other!
A lot of people saying this is Duran Duran era trying to be “goth” it wasn’t. Arcadia came about because JT and AT left and formed power station , the three remaining Duran Duran members SLB , RT and NR felt it was the end of Duran Duran so they formed Arcadia and by changing the music style (Arcadia’s music is totally different than anything Duran Duran did and sounded before) and the reason they dyed their hair black and wore black was to signify to JT and AT the death of Duran Duran . Arcadia was recording a second album which never was released or finished but elements from that second album made it to Notorious years later when Duran Duran reformed , example “American Science” was one of the left over elements from Arcadia.
Wow, fascinating. Isn't it interesting how bands evolve over time? At that time, they had no clue that years later all the DD guys would reunite, and still be playing music into the 21st century, with a new album coming out in 2021! I am not surprised though, because I always felt they were light years ahead of everyone else, and they still are. The new song video they premiered a couple days ago was created with the collaboration of AI, which produced video images based upon the song lyrics and emotional tone. How cool is that? :)
Not so sure about the black hair dye signaling the death of Duran Duran. In an in-studio MTV interview before the release of the Arcadia album, Simon mentioned how they all planned to use elements of their new sounds when they reunited as Duran Duran.
Nothing wrong with The Powerstation. Seen the video to "Some like it hot." Both AT and JT in it, looking like they're having a blast with the late Robert Palmer. If you go on RU-vid and search Duran Duran, download mix and you'll see The Powerstation songs. They've got the Duran Duran logo. You could almost say that both Arcadia and The Powerstation are offshoots of Duran Duran. Artists sometimes like to experiment. Roger Taylor or Freddie Mercury once said that Queen would always take priority but they did occasionally like to do something solo or collaborate with another artist as Freddie did with the Spanish opera singer Montserrat Caballé.
So red the Rose is such a forgotten and underrated record.. is actually one of my favorite albums - my others favorites are Power Windows (RUSH) and Astra (Asia).
Anyone realised how exclusive this performance is? They actually perform "The Flame", long before it was officially issued as a single and therefore here broadcast in the original LP version and not as the 7"version, mixed by Nile Rodgers. Until the end of the times we will always wonder and left with the eternal question:"Was this done on purpose?" I guess we'll never know...🤔
I had no idea that there were ever any live performances from Arcadia. I always wondered if any of the Arcadia songs had been performed by Duran Duran on tour later.
Roger always seemed to be the quite one, seemed to stay out of the spot light. I don't think he liked being the center of attention like John, Simon, and Nick.
Many times mistaken, Roger had left Duran Duran while Arcadia was still on. By the time John, Simon and Nick got back together to continue as Duran Duran , Roger was already long gone. They just kept it secret as long as they could. Same with Andy Taylor, who,by then had already released his 1st solosingle "take it easy".👍❤🇧🇪
Arcadia released one album but no live concerts, only tv shows (lip-synch). They never meant to do a tour or live shows, just that one album as opposed to The Powe Station which did some live gigs across the US.
Just love Nick. Simon is a little too Michael Jackson. I can't imagine how much alcohol it took in order to get on the stage with screaming girls touching!
