One of my favorite scenes from the finale is Silco's monologue in front of the statue of Vander and how it's come full-circle. He saw Vander as weak because he had lost his drive to fight no matter the cost for the Undercity and choosing to protect his daughters. Now that what Silco's been fighting for all his life is within his grasp, he can't bring himself to do it because it'd cost him his daughter. That line, "Oh, it all makes sense now, brother" is so indirectly impactful. Loved it!

A top comment from another video really resonated with me. It said something along the lines of: "Part of what made this show so great in terms of the characters, is that everyone is a villain in someone else's story." I find that to be so true. We get to see all sides of every conflict and all of the internal struggles within each party.

Jinx misunderstood Silco. "But is there anything so undoing as a daughter?" She thought he was gonna turn her in, when Silco dreaded the fact that he was prepared to abandon Zaun and go to war to keep her safe. Giving up his ambition and dream of an independent Undercity... THAT was what he was undoing for his daughter.

@@Hash1531 Yup, and that's the test that Jinx gave Vi, and Vi failed, assuming that Jinx was something "wrong", but it's just grown up Powder with the push of Vi's voice that kept her alive. A thing people also misunderstand is that Jinx isn't mad at Vi for "creating" Jinx, she sees it as a positive as Jinx is a stronger, capable and not helpless person, so she's trying to make her sister understand that she's stronger than she was, and going back would be bad for her, Vi doesn't see this at all though (understandably however), the silver platter was also a test, to see if Vi really thought that "Jinx" was crazy and Powder wasn't.

Every parent in this series kinda undoes their dreams or is tempted to undo their dreams because of their daughter. Vander and Silco are obvious, so i'll go over the others: Marcus gets threatened with being seperated from his daughter by silco and for that reason does everything to keep Cait and Vi from coming back. Mrs. Medarda: "I couldn't endure the look in your eyes when i made the necessary decisions to keep us safe" The kirammans "undo" caitlyns job to try to keep her out of danger. Mrs. Talis: "my (son) isn't in his right mind" keeps him from being banished. We don't know much about singed's backstory, but we do know he had a daughter he definitely made sacrifices for.

a similar point was made in Star Trek Enteprise: "You Vulcans may live 200 years and earn the wisdom that comes with it. We simply don't have that gift." Enterprise was always about the Humans being denied at every turn by the Vulcans, because, "You're not ready!" by the 24th century and Picard's times, nobody was ever on a rush to do anything anymore, they all set themselves to do something, and did it at their own pace.

*Silco is one of the best written character I've seen so far. He's the same with Askeladd from Vinland Saga. Even in his final moments, he never blamed or hated Jinx. He really did genuinely loved her as a daughter, and accepted and supported her to the end. Silco was loyal to her as she was loyal to him. His last words were, “Don’t cry. You’re perfect." He died as a good father for Jinx, the same with Vander to Vi.*

@Uaroth 2 года назад
People were arguing and accusing Silco of manipulation and grooming Jinx under similar comment to another reaction video... So I'll just copy here my objection to them in advance, if you don't mind) As far as I understand, grooming and manipulation are different from sincere interactions precisely because they are calculated, egotistic and careless. Groomer and manipulator don't feel a thing to victim and precisely tries to mold and brainwash someone to his benefit without any consideration for the victim's own life and future. If you don't need this intention to call someone groomer - pretty much every single relationships can be interpreted as grooming or manipulation, because sometimes even the same exact phrases used and actions done in normal parenting or dating as in grooming, only measure of genuine care is different. Silco didn't want to brainwash child into murderer just for him to use, he wanted to raise child as a murderer for her to prosper - this difference means a world.

Vi was so set on Powder coming back that she never even considered her and Jinx as being the same person. I know she was trying to pry Powder out by mentioning all those past names, but all she did was bring out so much trauma. She never accepted that her sister was different. Silco saw how mentally torn up she was over the past and tried to help her move beyond it. The dip in the water, never calling her a mistake, telling her to take time. Him trying to shoot Vi to shut her up while Jinx was in mental turmoil was heartbreaking. He never manipulated her, he truly loved her as HIS daughter. He wanted the world for her and the people of Zaun, even if his methods were that of a villain... But he was fully willing to give up his dream, and go to war for Zaun, to avoid letting her go. It’s usually better to focus a story around personal stakes with greater consequences occurring almost in the background as a secondary effect of personal conflict.

What I love so much about Jinx and Vi is that it all revolves around them being sisters and how they're just trying to become sisters like they used to again. Vi want's Jinx back because she knows that Powder is still inside her somewhere and she can bring her back. But the truth is, even if Powder is still in there, the chances of bringing her back and have everything go back to the way they used to be is almost near impossible. Jinx want's Vi and her love back, but she can't go back to the way she used to be. She tries and tries again and again but the more things get out of control the more she sways further and further away from redemption. Vi loves Powder, but she can't love Jinx, it's not that she doesn't want to but due to their circumstances and how they're at opposite ends, she can't love the killer and the craziness. But all Jinx want is for Vi to love her the way she is. It's so sad and realistic how the only one who can love Jinx for who she is now, ironically, is Silco. Silco is the only one who can truly love Jinx the way she is now because not only is he able to use that part of her to do what he thinks is right, but because he also fully understands her as a father figure, he is the only one who can appreciate Jinx the way she is now. It's easy to watch the show and say that there's so many scene where they could've went back to the way they were but things keep coming in-between that, If only that or this didn't happen. What we don't realize is, that's how life works sometimes. Sometimes life just doesn't work out the way we want to, and no matter how hard we try to get back to the things we knew and loved, we can't. Sometimes all we can do is move forward. It's okay to remember the happiness, the sadness, but we must love or at the least try to appreciate who we are now.

thats whats amazing about the show, all the characters feel real. Silco is a perfect example. He's not evil for evil's sake, his methods are pretty fucked and bad but he wanted independence for his people. he and Vander were near Identical in many ways b4 vanded ended up becoming a father, and as the show went on, you saw that silco ended up in a very similar situation giving up everything he was working for, for his daughter. Marcus, reall shitty person because his greed got his boss killed and he ended up being crooked, but he really ended up taking a similar postion to his boss in trying to maintain peace between Piltover and Zaun, and you see he struggles with the mistakes he made, you see the pain in him with the decisions he was forced to make against his own better knowing. Heimerdinger, He seems like a beacon of all things good but his perspective really is skewed on life because he lives so long, he definitely wasnt wrong about much but he ends up learning from Echo and the firelights. he sees what has become of Zaun as well and sees that all is not well and that his inaction did have consequences.

Jinx didn't shot Silco by accident. To all of those who thinks that, rewatch the scene: -Jinx is mentally assaulted by her guilt demons when Vi cites the names -Silco who wants to make her shut up (because it's harmful to Jinx and because he fears that she choose to take Vi's side in the end) and who wants to kill Vi since episode 3, takes the gun and aims at Vi. -When he cocks the gun, it get Jinx's attention out of her inner fight, we see her turning her head towards Silco's side of the table. -Then she grabs the machine gun, we don't really know the direction she his facing anymore because of her moving to grab it. -Then she starts firing in front of her, without any right of left motion. -We hear two of her shots but don't see them. -It cuts to Vi whose chair she sat on is impacted by a bullet, so it seems like Jinx is shooting at her. - Then we see a chair from behind, holed by Jinx bullets. When the chair turns it's revealed that it was Silco's chair. -Finally, when Jinx cool down and go to Silco, we see him dropping the smoking gun, which means he fired it. The scene is confusing on purpose to leave a doubt on who Jinx fired at until her target is revealed, already dead. But there is four important things a lot of people who thinks Jinx fired randomly in a circle, from Vi to Silco, miss: -Silco cocking the gun is what get Jinx out of her inner turmoil, meaning that she is very aware of what is happening from this moment on. -When she start firing, she stay in the same position and is not shown moving in the slightest until the end of the sequence. She turns her head toward Silco's side when she hear/see him cock the gun, she fires right in front of her and when the chair turns to reveal Silco, we see Jinx in the same position she had when she started firing. -The smoke of Silco's gun means he had the time to shot at Vi, that's why there is only one impact on Vi's chair, it was Silco's shot. He missed her because Jinx started to shoot him before he did: these are the two shots we hear but don't see just after she grabs the machine gun. If by "accident" you mean that Jinx didn't want to end killing Silco, absolutly right. But if you think she just fired randomly, putting only one bullet into Vi's chair and all the other ones into Silco, that is not what happened. She ultimately chose (consciously or not) to save her sister's life in detriment to her adoptive father, ending of course in further trauma. She was so fucked up that she put herself in this inextricable situation which was doomed to end by her jinxing it right from the start, whatever the outcome would have been. (Vi shooting Cait, Jinx shooting Cait, Jinx shooting Silco or Silco shooting Vi, every one of these outcome making her worse than before.)

What I like about Silco the most is that he was never your typical villain. When you think of a villain, you think of a manipulative, in-genuine, narcissistic mastermind. Silco was never really any of those. He always made his stance and intentions clear, while also having ideals that he valued. Silco valued Loyalty and family above all else. That’s why he was so hurt when, in his mind, Vander(a brother to him) betrayed him. It’s why he didn’t give Jinx(a daughter to him) up. All Arcane characters, especially Jinx, Silco, Vi, and Caitlyn, are some of the best characters I’ve ever seen. Also, can we talk about how Jinx comes full circle when she accidentally kills Silco? Like, she was insane because of all the trauma she had been through up to that point, but when she experiences arguably the most impactful loss of all, she just seems to completely sober up. In Jinx/Powder’s character arc, we basically go from sane child with a child-like mindset to insane, traumatized teenager with a child-like mindset to a sober, traumatized teenager with a mindset of someone with much more life experience than her.

@Edreray
@Edreray 2 года назад
This involves my take on what went down in those final moments at the dinner table. It's a bit lengthy, and I apologise for that. Vi, in her attempt to reach out to Jinx by reminding her of the people "she loved" and "who she was" (their murderer), was causing her great mental agony. In her shimmer affected and already unhinged state, Jinx was genuinely suffering from those hallucinations. Silco realised, and either out of concern or perceiving it as something that might "break" the person within Jinx, called out to Vi for her to stop. When she did not, it escalated into him choosing to shoot her. Jinx may have simply reacted to the hostile intent, but I also like to believe that she subconsciously found herself having to choose between the only two people she felt for. And she simply, without question, loved (was attached to) Vi more. When Silco became a threat to her sister, she shot him out of instinct. While this is very much the work of assumption, I do think Jinx is more connected to Vi, and if push came to shove would consciously make that same choice. It's beautifully tragic, like the rest of her story, misunderstandings, misfortune and impact. She let down everyone start to finish, truly a Jinx, and the beauty in Silco's final statement was not only that he accepted her "failure", but that he completely dismissed it, embracing her, her actions, and who she was as perfect. And he was the only one to do that. She then goes on to carry out his legacy, unknowingly destroying the peace that's about to form, truly a blight toward any possible positive (in terms of happy ending) development, true to her concept to the end, and perhaps its best personification I've seen, without needing satire or parody as a crutch to help her along at any point. And it's brilliant. Apologies for the wall to those who made it to the end.

honestly I really grew to like Silco in the last few episodes... He truly cared about jinx and would’ve given his own life for her

The bullet that landed on Vi was shot by Silco. That's why Jinx shot him.

What if? There’s no way to change the past. We have to accept our choices and consequences of what we did. We live by them everyday, every choice we made. It’s such a powerful story to reflect.

i like how mel's situation with her mom parallels silco's situation with jinx. The difference is that one chose his daughter, while the other one let go of the things that made her feel "weak" or "soft", which was her daughter

24:55 That's the key, I fully agree. The plot is so great and feels so natural because the characters drive it. And not even only your protagonist and antagonist but all of them. Very well said.

I think Jinx was just so triggered by Vi yelling out the names and bringing out her demons that when she heard the gun click, of Silco trying to shoot at Vi, that Jinx shot at Silco out of instinct hence the instant regret.

What made me love Silco more is when he saw Jinx was hurting the more Vi brought up her past so he decided to shoot her to shut her up.

Also the song that comes on, the monster you made me line was perfect and on point. The music is so great! When that song came on it made me wanna cry. As horrible as Jinx's actions are at the end you can't help but sympathize wth her and understand her. She's a victim of her own choices and other ppls choices and it's just painful to watch.

What makes this series so insanely good is the way how humanly all the characters are portrayed. Every single one acts based on his/ her values, their past, their traumas, their emotions. And the imperfections in them. They don’t feel like movie characters that act to drive the plot, but characters that drive the plot by their actions. Silco wanted a rebellion to get an independent nation of zhaun. He got betrayed by vander and turned more extreme. But when he got offered all he ever wished for, his nation, fulfilling his ambitions and driving force for all episodes. He can’t hand over jinx because she became his daughter over the years. When he talked in front of the vander statue, he realized what it means to be a father. And holy shit the expressions / the animation and all the details. 11/10 The music is also on another level. If they can keep this quality up, season 2 will be insane.

The scene where you're wondering if Cait's head is on a platter or not had me laughing when it was just her being wickedly mischievous. Sort of like that moment where Jinx is messing with "Chuck" in the diner. Jinx is insane and dangerous but she's so charming and endearing in her own twisted way that I can't help but chose her as my favorite character. As for Jinx jinxing the peace deal, that deal died with Silco and with Jinx not likely to turn herself in let alone the rocket.

i think mels survival instincts will kick in that is why her gold armor flashes. and you can see her glance back at the rocket like she senses it. my guess is that her gold armor that flashes and she will shield the whole council room

Silco got loose and shot at Vi, that's why Jinx shot Silco to protect her sister.... I think it's because he felt like Vi was hurting her with the stuff she was saying and he was trying to protect her. Incredible show, can't wait for season 2

This show quickly climbed up to be one of my favorites. Definitely animated favorites. As far as Season 1s of shows go, this was definitely the best I've watched. The characters, the writing, the soundtrack, the animation and voice acting was just top tier.

I love how Silco understood the situation of Vander when he was given the choice to give Jinx to the enforcers. For the 1st time he had something to protect other than his empire. Silco's last words made me almost cry. 🥲

When it revealed and we thought it'd be her head I was very scared, but then she pulled the lid up for it to be a cupcake and it was the biggest relief ever. Even cooler considering Vi likes to call Caitlyn "Cupcake." How did Powder know!?
