Honestly, this whole series is rewriting the lore into something that ACTUALLY MAKES SENSE. I hope they actually rewrite the ruination in the future and give us ALL the characters going through it. Like the ones we missed in Samira and Darius and Poppy.
I want the next series to be about the noxus invasion of ionia. Add in riven starting as a hopeful soldier fully believing in noxus, irelia starting the resistance, karma dealing with the avatar spirit, singed using nukes and chemical weapons of mass destruction and ending in swain having his hand cut
Besides her being a child with abandonment issues, messing with weapons and explosives was something not only natural for Jinx but also something they praised her for. It's so unfair to blame her for it because there's no way a child would know that bombs are bad if she spent her life being encouraged to make and use them (Vi herself expressed positive interest in her "projects", i can't even imagine how confused and betrayed Jinx felt).
I dont think Vi blamed her for using a bomb : she blamed her for messing it up by heavily miscalculating its effects. The way their thief group fonctionned emplied everyone had to use their talent at the right moment, and dose it carefully. Not only Powder disobeyed her, but she went overboard (not on purpose, of course). Mistakes happens, but some can have dreadful consequences depending on the situation. Powder was literally playing with fire, a fire very dangerous since most adults (save for our 2 inventors!) wouldn't even know how to handle properly Hextech. At the same time, you cant blame her : she's just a kid, and really wanted to save her sis and her friends... Poor Powder, that was so heart breaking to watch
Friendly reminder that the scene where Silco is hugging Powder and she has the purple eyes is ACTUALLY a reference to one of the series' teasers, except for those ones, its Vi hugging her :)
Yeah agreed, but that would mean they need to update skarner's lore soon. Cuz honestly the whole hextech crystal being his race kinda does hold back the story.
@@vincentlayug1361 It’s never mentioned where jace got the crystals, he only saw a rune stone and then seeked out similar power. It’s entirely possible that there still brakern
I'm torn. I think that Arcane is such a well-told story that it has to be cannon. It must be cannon. However, I don't love the idea that Riot executives can continuously retcon stories, just so long as they have something that generates them more money. What happens when some Jinx/Vi story comes along that's more popular than Arcane? It's kind of a slippery slope. It made sense for the older characters because Runeterra is fundamentally a different universe from when they were created, but I'd like each piece of lore to be concrete and have weight. Nobody wants to have to question the validity of what they're watching/reading. I think a happy medium is for them to find ways to integrate new stories into what they already have.
That entire scene with jinx really brought me to tears not only cause shes just a child in this but because I tend to have a mental breakdown whenever I screw something up that causes other people to be affected and when I feel like I'm completely usless and cant be of help to anyone.
So true, at least it doesn't require joining discord or being flamed. I have only played a half dozen games in the last 8 years so I was kinda surprised at how into the characters I got. But its just one component of a stellar production. I listen playing through a receiver and surround setup. The score of the show is really stunning and evocative. The strings in the Jinx bust up was so good. I dont know if there is really anything else I can compare it to but its not my genre. I want to see what else the studio has done now.
Love how passionate you are about it all ^^ This series was amazing, I cannot wait for season 2. I do think that characters like Grayson don't deserve praise. She was keeping the peace sure, but in a system as broken and exploitative as can be. She even recognizes that the arrest needs to happen just to make the topsiders feel better about things and her men run roughshod over the lanes. She might mean well, but she certainly didn't do well. At the end of the day she was exactly what the corrupt council wanted and the fact that she had some empathy for Vander and his people actually makes it more horrible in some ways because she knows how they are treated is heinous, but she guards the system anyway.
The Brackern aren't being ret-conned necrit pointed it out and I needed to hear it for myself but it's real. When Jinx first finds the crystals in jayce's lab you can hear their voices if you have good headphones. You can also hear their screams mixed in with the explosion during Marcus's view of the explosion on the docks. The Brackern are still very much in there.
sometime, you can grab some food with your friend without it being a date. Eating feels nice, and it is also necessary in order to survive... But it's cool to craft scenes that are open to different interpretations anyway, so why am I even commenting? I don't know...
Got back on this from act 2: So conflicted on liking ALL of the Casts, they fit their roles so, so well. And guilt tripping out off my mind. Really great recap. Can't wait for the upcoming (if any) Act 2 & 3 recap.
I know almost nothing of official LoL lore. I just know that Arcane is amazing! The animation, the storytelling, the voice acting, the music... everything, so well done! And Act 2... it just gets better!
The scene at the brothel, where Vi speak with the brothel owner (the old yordle woman) there were also many masks behind her. I think there was even Shaco's mask hanging there.
After Vander was taken by Silco and angry purple boi...Silco says to Vander "I'll show you what you really are." Right after that, you clearly hear the Warwick Blood Hunt sound right as the music picks up...hearing that gave me chills
i am happy that i never read enything about the lor, because I can fully enjoy the story of jinx and Vi in the series without thinking about what probably is not exactly right.
Honestly, Vander becoming WW and Jinx/Vi figuring out who he is is going to be a lot more gut wrenching than anything if/when they do find out. Vander = WW was my only theory during the whole time I was watching after the ending of ep 1. The moment I saw the first shimmer vial and the relationship Vander and Silco had everything just kinda clicked into place. Silco then basically telling Vander to release the monster he know he has in him and Vander basically being an uncontested threat to anyone and everyone from the very first scene in the show. After revisiting WW's lore page and seeing everything it all clicked together and removed any doubt I might have had. You begin to see just why a former retired gangster turned chem'd up murder machine ended up being a lethal vigilantee and the context of vague memories of a little girl calling his name. It's all SO GOOD and I want more of it.
Easter egg i noticed: when powder is crying with her tool box in episode 3, there are wings (one Black and the other white) draw in the inside of the box, which is a reference to her tattoos in the star guardian skin
I didn't miss it when watching, but I miss it now, mainly Viktor and Jayce being absolutely adorable awkward dorks together, Riot, I didn't even ship this, I mustn't, _don't tempt me_
About the hex crystals, in the files on lol client, jayce talks about the expeditions to find the crystal that matches what was given to him. So the lore still on going about Skarner's family
Here's a thing I noticed ! (Spoiler for the end) In the game, Jinx got tattoos of blue clouds and bullets, right ? In Arcane, Jinx only got blue clouds. What killed her family the first time ? An explosion she made ending with blue smoke. What killed her family the second time ? Bullets that she shot. Tl;dr : Jinx tattoos on herself her two most traumatic failures. She sure deserves that name, huh ?
I like how at the beginning it made it seem like silko and Vander were just straight good guy bad guys but by the end I actually ended up identifying with and having alot of respect for both of them in different ways while also being a little bit disgusted by both of there gray moralitys.
Jayce having to compromise integrity for power while still lamenting his own inaction to do anything about the gasses in the undercity that took out the partner who essentially made him and looking past the scourge of shimmer etc. This is pretty contemporary for Steampunk in some ways as allegory.
Tho there might be changes that happens, I heavily appreciate the sht they doing back there. The whole League Lore is a world we never knew we needed. And the changes, the updates to the lore, makes it deeper, less normy, the dept it's starting to give off is like the dept of the Star Wars universe.
I think that this serie really connects with the audience. I have a friend that has schysophrenya (sorry my gramar chilean / zaun guy ajajaj) and i asked him if he could relate to jinx voices and hallucinations. And yes he admited it is very real. You have jayce that was about to commit suicide until they break the scene with a soft joke, and it could have been controvertial , but they made it brilliant. And then you have viktor a guy that doesnt want to get to much involved with the people , but its ok because he's a genius. And then you have the plot, man i can relate so much to vi and zaun people, because third world is kinda similar you know. This serie could mean riot taking over the world.
I'm surprised nobody mentionned the similarities between Grayson and Lin Beifong in Legend of Korra, visually-wise and "background"-wise. I'm convinced Riot took inspiration to built Grayson's character, but with some improvement : Grayson is smoother, less hot-headed, and wiser. Like you said DInka, peak queen energy. Other than that, I'm overwhelmed like you all by the incredible quality of Arcane. It just hits and feels right in every aspect, and I mean in EVERY aspect.
This might be out there with all the things and references but I firmly believe that Fiddle is out there watching them. Cuz I feel like there's a Fiddle shaped chair on the first episode when Silco was interrogating the frat boy and crows are showing up left and right too. Which I solely think explains why Fiddle knows Jinx's fears. But this is just my theory.
AS far as in-game lore goes, I think about it as gossips and people's tells, which is fitting, considering scattered and disjointed format. It is natural that Victor became evil in the public eye as opposed to Jayce. Series provide IMO much more compelling and natural actual stories and motivations.
Victor feining innocence and saying "wait a minute," 😧🤔 "this isn't my room-" made me laugh myself to _tears._ Coz that was 12 year old me attempting to liee 😭
If you listen whenever the Hex Crystals are struck, you can hear whispering/screaming. There's been a lot of hypothesis that it's the Brackern souls crying out. Also when Powder is running from the gang with the pilfered stuff in Ep 1, a PentaKill poster can be seen on the wall just before she tosses the stuff into the water. Along side what looks like a torn Doctor Mundo Poster. We also get to see Powder find the teeth for her future Chompers. When the kids are jumping from ledge to ledge in the very beginning of Ep 1, you get to see Caitlyn's Cupcake's on the balcony. The face on the punching machine is supposed to be that of Milo's. Also, just personally, the big guy that works for Silco. His tattoos remind me of the Serpent Isles. It also doesn't help that we see Bilgewater creatures in the water outside Silco's lab, and that the gun game Powder and Milo play is based on Bilgewater. I'm curious if there's going to be any connection there to other characters or places.
I hope the show gets more seasons, with each one focused on a different region and the characters that live there. Imagine an entire season about Noxus, Bilgewater or Ionia.
In episode 2, when the enforcemen is looking for them and looks under the bed, there is a rhinoceros stuffed animal with the same paint job as the one in the jinx music video.
Excellent video. Well made and informative even for the most affictionate lore enthusiasts. Allow me to add a thing or two to your great explanation: First of all, this "never happened in the lore" looks like it's susceptible to change. As you may already know, Caitlyn's lore was updated, and I think, by the end of the series, many others may change as well. In Jinx's LOR's tale, Jinx and Vi seem to have reconciliated. She's still a lunatic, and they fight each other sometimes, but there is some good talks and hugs inbetween (Jinx still dislikes Caitlyn, by the way, wich creates some dilemma to Vi). It seems that the way Vi will get her gauntlets will change, and this needs to be reflected in her lore. Besides, Jayce's lore says he was born on Piltover, and this needs to change as well. Now, Ziggs and Jinx's comic. I know you like this story, and I like it too. But the idea of yordles being seen with prejudice and needing to disguise themselves with glamour simply doesn't hold much water when compared with everything else. First, we are aways reminded that Heimerdinger is the greatest mind of Piltover and the University's headmaster. In the comics, he is working on a pyrotechnic workshop, which doesn't make much sense. Second, there is a statue in front of the University of Piltover, as can be seen in the LOR card with the same name, portraying Heimerdinger himself in his normal yordle form. If he needed to use glamour, this wouldn't happen at all. Third, he is not the only yordle on the University of Piltover, as is stated in Ziggs' backstory. And finally, speaking of Ziggs' backstory, Ziggs was reintegrated in the University of Piltover as an honorary member after rescuing a group of teachers from some Zaun bandits, which contradicts the comics. The comics also contradicts Rumble's backstory, since it states that a group of former Heimerdinger students made a field trip to Bandle City, which implies they knew he was a Yordle.
I mean silco when from trying to exploit powder with is "sweet" voice so he could get both sister and kill them... to not trying to exploit power the moment he see her going through the same thing as him. There is not other motive at that moment.
The masks in Benzo's shop, the rightmost mask is even the actual Haunting Guise :D AND WE HAVE RABADDON'S, HEART OF GOLD, AND TRYNDAMERE'S HELMET IN THE SHOP TOO.
Necrit made a similar "missed points" video, and just off the top of my head I remember that he had found Pentakill logo (and indeed it was there), and some semi-covered poster, which looks similar to Corporate Mundo splash.
Yeah, taking into account Riots history of "keeping up with their own lore" I'd say never expect they will keep up with their own lore. As in, don't expect they will showcase what they wrote, better imagine someone else that kinda read the lore is running the show here and maybe he remembers some of the story and maybe some other parts will be invented on the spot.
in my opinion the worst thing about jinx and vi was that they should tell vander about the hextech crystals in the first place(I mean 95% of it was Vi's fault to do not let jinx to show them to vander) and than none of these would happen.
I hope Fiddlestick's lines in the game hint that there is an even more significant event that Jinx will be the catalyst for. I heard Fiddlestick's lines are all him just mimicking the dying words of his victims, and since nobody in the explosion was screaming that it was all Jinx's fault - that could mean there is a future event where Jinx somehow causes someone else to be killed by FiddleSticks, and he is just repeating their last words
Actually, it was Ekko's fault from the start. He was the one who gave the job to Vi. Markus did his job as an enforcer to track down and capture the culprit behind the explosion that was caused by Powder. This isn't even debatable, it's the fact. Also, it was Silco who manipulated Markus since he's the one who gave the info to him. If Silco didn't do that, Markus would probably still be looking for the four of them. In the end, it wouldn't matter much if Markus accepted his deal or not, Silco will still capture Vander by using one of his subordinates, or kidnapping the kids.
okay you asked for our theories and here is mine and i am pretty alone with this one but i think that silco will become or be associated with shaco. i had this theory right from the beginning and his death in EP9 made it a bit harder but hear me out. 1. his name and visuals are quite the same, even his clothing reminds me of shaco (the red and black) and the wild card shaco even has a scared red eye 2. the way he plays and talks with ren (marcus daughter) and also his shadow bending on the wall might foreshadow a transformation? 3. he already is taking a daily dose of shimmer that could have "changed his nature" enough to survive/ be transformed? (just like jinx, warwick and viktor) 4. silco says "there is a monster in all of us" and jinx says "nothing ever stays dead". the last one is dropped in the same episode he dies. 5. shaco has almost no lore and eventhough riot wanted to change it, they never did. maybe to prevent arcane spoilers? 6. in the lore shaco has it's said that he got corrupted by dark magic (shimmer maybe?) after he lost his beloved charge (jinx?) 7. shacos splash art has purple stuff all over his weapons and toys 8. silco sneaks behind vander and stabs him with a dagger in the back for a "critical" hit. sounds to me like something shaco does right? 9. jinx is always concidered the harlequinn of league and she is missing her joker right? also killing with toys is pretty jinx-ish right? 10. pim (the dude with the clowns mask in the brothel) has the same voice actor as silco. why? i could've said this one line? and i know there are a lot voice actors that do multiple roles but that seem sto me like to big of a coincidence by now. 11. in the scene where vi decides to fight in episode 3, right after she steps on the bridge, you can hear a clowns laughter (round about minute 21:40). why?! and if you say now, well silco is dead and shaco is a puppet soooooo. well i got a last one for you. jinx, so far, has made a puppet of every family member she accidently killed. mylo and claggor. she has a tendency to keep stuff as a reminder. why not making a puppet in rememberance of silco maybe with his blood stained clothes and the blood and shimmer might at some point mix and bring the puppet to life that is known as shaco. and like warwick he wont have memories of his past but just be an evil entity killing stuff. okay thats enough. what do you think? am i seeing things or am i on to something?
Loved the reaction to Arcane, and love the show. Sorry that they maybe rewriting some of it. With the bit of lore deal with genocide, they could of desired that some people will no take it well and they could paint over that one. Only time will tell. So have a great day and stay safe.
I think we will get ALOT of lore change. (Im not allowed to say this i think bec im not that much into the lore) But i think these changes will make it even better. And maybe some kind of plottwist will clean up Seraphines mess
Mistake number one, directly compare the show to the game lore. It was manslaughter, not murder. Loved the easter eggs you discovered, I noticed the Teemo in game one too. Grate recap !
