Arcane Brotherhood | Rime of the Frostmaiden NPC Guide

Consistently appreciative of just hearing the contents of the book read out from another person's perspective. It's uncommon for these to really present me with NEW information (no slight on you, I just really enjoy reading thoroughly and going down the same forgotten realms wiki rabbit holes you do) but hearing someone else discuss these characters/plot devices provides an EXCELLENT sounding board, like being able to talk through some of these characters with another DM. Definitely had me reconsider just how deeply important to my party (all sort of supporting a wizard as a more central role) the arcane brotherhood quests are going to be, not only for loot & spellbooks, but for alternate offshoot quests, perhaps sending an invitation (or allowing him to apply to the brotherhood) and/or stoking a desire to join the brotherhood as a character goal which, as they learn more, will probably become less and less attractive, if my assessment of his alignment is correct. If not? alignment shifts are AWESOME for storytelling. LOVE the idea of really pushing the professor as a NPC, I'd really written it off as a talking dictionary to be pulled up rarely. Making him charming & likeable & then killing him off in caves of hunger, and then similarly having Velynne tragically (perhaps even heroically) go a similar fate so that they're truly left to their own devices upon entering ythryn is just *chef kiss*. Victory from tragedy.

About to run my first Rime of The Frostmaiden campaign, all of these videos have helped so much. Thank you! You are awesome and my absolute favorite DND youtuber

I'm going to rewind the clock on these wizards and make sure the party is aware of them before any of these events transpire: Avarice heading to the Caer, Dzaan finding the spire, Vellynne hiring kobolds, or Nass stealing the orb. The party will at the very least hear about a bunch of wizards hanging out at the Northlook in session 1, and they can poke around and meet these wizards if they want, or question any bystanders.

What does it really mean to be a red wizard of thay? Does that mean he was trained in thay to have certain skills? Is it just he has allegience to thay? If he was trained by thay, why work with the arcane brotherhood?
