Arcane fans react to Fiddlesticks Voicelines | League Of Legends 

One very important thing is that 99% of his voice lines are the last words of the people he kills. So for example the voice line "close your eyes" is the mother telling her child to close its eyes so as not too see what comes next and every other voice line like "It's too dark I can't find my way" is a person lost in the field at night and these are his words before fiddle kills him that's what makes him scary. He copies what he hears.

I think you should check the bio or read the story of the chapter to understand better the voicelines, Fiddlesticks lines are scary for 2 main reasons: 1 he doesn’t know how to talk, he moves on instinct, and acts as such, It repeats the sounds he hears as It hunts. 2 he feeds on fear, so he uses the sounds of the prey he kills. All his lines are just the last sentences (or animal grouls) of his prey.

I will always respect Fiddle's VA because its not effects, he does it all naturally himself

fiddle doesnt just repeat his victims last words, he also addresses their biggest Trauma. The Jinx line shows it pretty well since Vi told Jinx in Arcane that the incident in the Warehouse was all her fault which devastated her completely as shown in the series

My favorite lines are "Don't open your eyes", "It's in the house!", and "We can't get out!" because they tell the story of a family that barricaded themselves in their home only for Fiddlesticks to get inside and amidst the panick presumably an adult is telling a child to not open their eyes so they at least don't have to witness the death of their family before the child themselves is slaughtered and mutilated by rusted metal that tears their flesh rather than cutting it. Fiddlestick's horror is when you imagine the contexts for his voicelines since they are one of two things. The deepest fears a person carries repeated by an entity that knows the people intimately when the people don't know the entity. Almost like a stalker peering through the windows for months, learning the private details and everything they can about their victims before doing what they will with them. Or the last words they ever spoke before Fiddlesticks mutilates them and leaves them to suffer enough to have breathes sucked in through the blood pooling in their throats. The almost mocking mimicry of desperate cries for salvation, frightened exclamations of shock, final breaths, or pleading for others to help in their final moments give a glimpse into the horror and tragedy that befell some of Fiddlestick's victims. A man whistling as he walks down a dark road at night, happy and carefree enough to be whistling in the first place only for that jovial action to be the signal to a demon nearby. Someone banging on an old wooden door as they desperately plead to be let in to safety while another holds the door closed by the knob. (most likely another voice from the house incident as a member of the family is abandoned) Crying pleads to not be left behind as they fall behind the rest of the people they thought would listen and help them only to be overtaken and ripped from the world. Someone running away as fast as their feet can carry them with the air in their lungs burning as they take huge gulps of it only for those same lungs to be pierced and strewn across the dirt path. The voices of these people being twisted through nothing more than metal and cloth with no lungs or vocal chords to refine the sounds to something more human, more natural. All of these things push the fact that Fiddleesticks has the mindlessness of a predatory animal who is so detached from its own actions that it can't distinguish between the screams and and death rattles of people and mimics animals' final squeals and whinnys out of a lack of understanding that those were not humans it consumed. Fiddlesticks is a primal and ancient entity that can not be bargained with, it can not be begged to stop, and it can not be killed. It is one of the first instances where my fear of normal everyday people sacrificing or abandoning the lives of others due to fear in times of crisis or panic (think people being trampled to death while running away from something or people dragging boats down trying to be rescued from water) is made manifest in a character.

Fiddlesticks is brilliant character design. There's double meaning behind so much of what he says. It's easy to think he's this mindless fear engine, just sowing terror everywhere he goes as a function of what he is, but then you realize there's a subtle hint at his own conscious motivations. "The scarecrow took them all. Nobody left...but me." "Where are you? I can't see you! I can't see you!" "Just a story." Maybe it's picking last words at random...but what if it isn't?

Fiddlesticks' voice lines are purely just a primordial spirit imitating the last words of it's victims. Even the animal sounds.

I think it’s creepier when you think about his victims points of view and how he repeats what they said before dying

As others have said, Fiddles lines in a vacuum don't feel that scary until you find out why they are spoken this way. Since he mimics people running for their lives or on the verge of death, the inflexions come out weird. To add to it, when he does the weird gasping as he moves, he does it simply because that's the sound that people made as they ran away, out of breath and gasping for air. Unlike other demons like Tahm, Fiddle is purely base on fear and his way of being is closer to that of an animal. Since he doesn't seem to grasp what it says apart from the fact that it causes fear, there is no logic to the tone and vocals. Fiddle sticks is in essence himself a voice actor whos job is to mimic.... he's never spoken a word in his life and all hes been given to work of is the vocals of soon to be dead people. edit: to add to it, the monotone delivery of the attack lines is because everyone always has the same delivery when they get chased by a mass of rusty blades going at mach 10: panic and fear! :D

A very interesting fact about fiddle's voice is that the voice is created by metal screeching and sounds like that because the scarecrow dont have vocal chords. That's why he sounds so mechanical and metallic, the reason why he has some [struggling] voicelines is that the people he killed that didnt had last words, that's just their last breath of life. The voice actor did an amazing job with the distorted voice without getting his throat destroyed. (The cool thing you can notice is that the [Help Me] voiceline at 16:54, is actually the last words from Tedric in fiddle cinematic "Terror in demacia")

The voicelines when he's the one "creeped out", are more scarier when you realize this are the last words of someone else

If I recall correctly, the reason Fiddle sounds the way it does (aka so breathy and just weird) is because it doesn't have a voice of it's own. Rather, it is quite litterally forcing itself to produce sounds in order to replecate roughly what a voice sounds like. God I love this champion. Anyways great video!

I'm sure someone already said it but aside from him mimicking his victims last words, what he says when he first encounters champions is him mimicking the words from their most traumatic event. There's a good video that covers all those lines and the events they're referencing. Edit to add: When he encounters other demons he calls them by name or by what vice they represent. With Swain he's calling to the demon that's been bound to Swain but not Swain himself.

The reason why fiddlesticks sounds like that it's because it is not a being that produces words by itself. It just mimicks all the sounds it hears from it's victims. Some are animal sounds that it has killed and some are the last words it's victims said .

Fiddlesticks is one of the best Reworks on the game making a real horror movie monster, from a comedic scarecrow to an ancient demon of Runeterra, a "lopsided horror in the shape of a scarecrow that croaks in the stolen voices of the dead."

The thing about old fiddlesticks is his voice lines are either from their fears and or their last words after they get killed by fiddlesticks.

Everything he says is something he has either heard someone else say or drawn from a person's own fears. Like when he's talking to other characters in game.

All the ragged breathing sounds are the final breaths of the people he was chasing and/or giving a heart attack too

The lines in which he offers to help someone are lines also said to him. He kills his victims and then copies their pleas for help which then later attract those willing to help to their own demise

So funny Thing for Fiddle's Voice Lines is that it's either the Specific persons greatest fears since Fiddle is the Primordial Demon of Fear or the last thing that they have said before they were killed by the Scarecrow. The only Deviations to that is when Fiddle speaks to another Demon like himself such as Nocturne the Eternal Nightmare, Tahm Kench the River King, Evelynn Agony’s Embrace, Raum the Demon of Secrets (Who is Possessing Swain) and Grey Man who was the Physical aspect of Death but was so Lonely that it split its soul in two to form Wolf and Kindred someone who Fiddle knows since he is as old as time itself and since people fear Death.

it's scary in the part he mimics, hollow knight had something similiar to this where you are lured to a dark cave of a monster who mimics it's victims and you can read their corpses last words before they die until it's your turn next.

He mimicks people. So his voice lines are things he heard people say to him before fiddle killed them. He also mentions people's darkest fears. That's why he calls out the true name of other demons and knows people's secrets. That's why he calls lux little light for example. Annie's sister and things like: it's in the house. That's what makes it creepy imo. Sarah is miss fortune for example. His voice lines are creepy if you know the backstories

Fiddlesticks voice actor did an amazing job and its really hard to try to mimic it (i tried and it hurts XD), so who you planning on next if anything plz volibear or Udyr

Also when he Says a Demons Name like Evelyn, Nocturne, Tahm Kench he also speaks what those demons represents. Like Evelyn - Agony, Nocturne - Nightmares, Raum - Secrets, Tahm Kench Addiction, and etc.

stumbled across this video, enjoyed watching the video and seeing how new people see to the league lore and learning things fresh and see what they think it also feels refreshing for me in a way to see more people engage the lore of Runeterra And i might add something here that you 2 have already maybe heard before So first of i can agree that fiddle is one of the champions that feels underwhelming to learn about, it really just feels like a creepy scarecrow that says random lines and sounds But in reality he is some of the strongest character (around top 10 minimum) and he is the strongest demon in runeterra. Btw he isnt the scarecrow itself but the dark mud/slime thing in the chest of the scarecrow. So if you guys get to know other champs such as like vayne and annie his lines suddenly becomes way darker really fast. And he doesnt only makes your traumas worse he also turns your "happy" moments to some of the darkest times before your last breath (sniffing out every little light there is) So the more u piece every character together the more weight is every characters word gonna have. Like Aatrox who at first seems like a cool dark and mad person "the world ender" until u really know his full story and know how broken he really is So if u still read this far i would recomend you guys watching videos made by Necrit after you guys have gone throught every voicelines you wanna see, becus he explains every champions full story and connections greatly. Also a fun fact about fiddles voice actor is that they didn't use any effects for his voice

I wish they reacted more to what he's saying and not just talking about what he sounds like over and over again.

It's absolutely fine having a different take than others but personally don't think a deep, growling voice would fit with many of the voice lines especially the "It's in the house!" or "It's alive!" since the high ear screeching definitely adds more urgency/fear to the appropriate situation. The way the character is built and voice also matters a ton to Riot, there's always an attempt to create a certain "feel" to the character based on lore, character design and voice lines. Take Aatrox as an example, he wouldn't be nearly as intimidating or angry if the voice lines didn't have the guttural and pure rage to match his lore and design.

I think you're not taking into account that these are just recreations of things he's already killed. So he's basically screaming at you about his victims or your fears. His voice is odd because he has no actual vocal chords. He doesn't even know what he says, he's more a force of a nature than an intelligent creature.

the reason a lot of his voice lines are squeaky is because the way he imitates voices is rubbing metal together kinda like how crickets do with their legs

i main fiddle for the most par as a jungler anyways, but one of my favorite things to do is to use his ultimate to blink over a wall and jumpscare everyone on the other side while the whole time he is screaming the "REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" voice line. its free serotonin.

Kellen Goff is the GOAT for this voice. And I am traumatized for life by it.

When you realize none of his lines are his own, but they are the last things he's heard before murdering someone, or something traumatic from the past of people the champion becomes much more creepier.

Oh boy, can't wait for the corrections/criticisms but here we go: Firstly a little context for the lines; Fiddle is basically a demon of terror/fear, and uses this to his advantage to terrify those he faces, however he addresses fellow... Demons? Spirits? by their proper or given names, hence why he simply says "Evelynn" or "Nocturne". Interestingly, the "Raum" response to Swain is specific to the demon Swain is with, a demon of Secrets I believe. "Annie, Help Me... Annie..." - Annie's last words from her sister as she was taken away by a river she fell into (and presumably drowned within) "Garen... Brother... Please don't hate me..." - Garen's sister is Lux, whom is a secret mage. Mages and magic in general are very outlawed in Demacia. Garen secretly knows she is a mage, and that he "should" turn her in, but can't do it to his sister, and Fiddle calls him out on this by haunting him with the visions of what it would be. "Jinx! All Your Fault! All Your Fault!" - You've seen arcane, I think you can figure this one out ;) "Grey Man" - Kindred, I believe you've seen her video, but Grey Man was the being they were before they split into Lamb and Wolf. "Little... Light..." - Lux... I don't know if Loved is correct, but had a lot of affection for Sylas (a mage) and his nickname for her before he was imprisoned was "Little Light" "Sarah... Sarah...!" - Miss Fortune's last words she heard from her Mother before she was shot in front of her by Gangplank. "Guilty! Guilty! Guilty!" - Riven was a soldier for Noxus with a conscience, and feels immense shame and guilt over the murder of countless Ionians during the Noxus-Ionia war, where she eventually betrayed and left the Noxian army, shattering her sword as a symbol of her defiance "Stars..." - Soraka is basically a star god (celestial is the term they use I believe), come to runeterra in mortal form to help and heal those in need by the power of the stars "Vannis... Don't Hurt her!" - Sylas used to be a member of the mage hunters (The group that hunts magic users/mages in Demacia). His "partner" (think police with their always being in pairs) was arresting a young girl and her father for being mages and Sylas tried to stop her from being so rough, touched the young girl, and triggered a magical explosion that killed all except him. "Vayne... Give us a smile!" - When Vayne was younger, her parents were murdered by evil supernatural beasts (think werewolves-esque) so she "never smiled again afterwards" and became a monster hunter (silver bolts/van helsing kinda deal) "Brother... How could you betray us?" - Yasuo and Yone were brothers in Ionia who used the "Wind Technique" in their fighting. Unknown to them, Riven (mentioned earlier) could use the same technique, and killed their village & village elder with said abilities. Yone went to war, and when he came back, found Yasuo and all the people dead by the wind technique and blamed him. Yasuo was forced to defend himself, and had to kill his own brother as a result. Lordy and that's all the basic character interations, by all means if anyone makes it through this, feel free to correct me if I have made any errors, but I put together this simple summary for the two awesome reactors providing this awesome video, and I can't wait for more!

Fiction can inspire a voice - but ultimately the VA gets to decide how they want to embody that - It wasn't scary for me, and the lore behind Fiddlesticks doesn't make the VOICE any scarier. on the flipside - fiddlesticks in his reworked cinematic is scary because of his crazy jumpscare speed.

Open the door its not that he wants to come in someone's house but someone wants to hide from him in someone's house.

To understand the horror element you really need to understand the character, or at the very least, he cannot naturally speak. Once we understand that most of the voice lines are him mimicking the most terrifying moments these people have lived back to them brings on a whole new meaning. The exceptions to this are the other demons (Tahm Kench, Everlyn etc...) though Swain is the standout here as he recognises he has been possessed by the demon Raum, which is why he addresses him as such.

I just like how he keeps quoting the dead people important to other champions back at them, which he has no right of knowing? Like, Miss Fortune's parents were killed by Gangplank. How does Fiddlesticks know their last words? Annie's parents died in a fire that she caused. Where did he get their last words? It puts this eerie tone on every line he speaks.

Yeah its not creepy if you listen to fiddlestick without knowing its lore..so basically fiddle is a demon using a junk or anything he can use.. so the scarecrow is not fiddle the black thing with red eyes on cage in the body of the scare crow is fiddle he just poppeting it. And also his voice lines is just a traumatic lines or nightmare to someone who fiddle is facing so fiddle use the lines to bring terror to some one and also he use the last thing his victims say even animals.

I love everything about fiddlesticks, these voicelines, his kit, the way he plays, all of it. Riot did a phenomenal job when they reworked him, sometimess reworks suck but this one was defintely an improvement. Also I find his voicelines both hilarious and scary at the same time, sometimes the way it speaks is funny af but other times it's pretty damn creepy, like I've watched his voicelines video multiple times and yet I still get a shiver down my spine during some of the lines. Great reaction and opinions on the voice actor btw, and just ignore all the haters in the comments, you shouldn't have to justify to them why it didn't scare you. While they're right that a lot of people find fiddlesticks scary and/or terrifying, none of these people have any right to tell you how to feel or react. Lastly as a horror fanatic myself, I could totally see fiddlestciks be a great horror villain but it's far from the scariest thing I've seen.

Problem is that you have no idea what fiddlesticks is. He's Fear, and he takes the last words of his victims. When he talks it's either him making you face your biggest fear, or the last words of someone he killed. And he killed a LOOOOOOOT of people (and animals)

if i could shed some light on the "higher pitch" that you say you don't like. The point of his voice is that his body is made of cloth and rusted metal and the reason it sounds the way it does is because its meant to sound like rusted metal scraping together. like a gate that's been out in the rain and hasn't been oiled in years, like steel scraped across concrete, scraping, screeching and unnatural, cobbled together with the patch work attempt of putting together a voice from noises of animals and screams of people. the main entity itself has little ability to speak outside of this cobbled together body of random farm equipment it has put together and when you observe it from the idea that it sounds like a creaky gate because he's basically MADE of a creaky gate i find it makes much more sense. and as for it not being scary, it's hardly going to be in the most effective sense given the fact league isn't actually a horror game. but i like to think that if you took fiddlesticks and made an entire dedicated horror game out of him, and you heard him slowly scraping down a dark hallway, croaking at you in the voice of someone long dead trying to find where you are, it's effect would be much more prominent. i do have to admit the use of the word "boring" in other comments feels a bit harsh, and even if it was not meant to be, it does feel like it's a bit of a riff on Kellen Goff's amazing work here. but i respect your opinion none the less. Not everything is for everyone i suppose.

i feel like you guys are going into the voice lines of these champions too blind and cant grasp much if anything at all, maybe read the bio's first like a lot of ppl will say here fiddlestick's lines arent ment to be full of emotion and have great delivery since what fiddles says is him just mimicking the last words of his victims, humans and animals, he is a primordial demon of fear that feeds of fear so his line are meant to terrify his victims that think he is just a scarecrow, he is scary bc he will kill your mother/father/friend and come kill you while screaming their last words and begging for help with the voice of a child (great reference would be the bear in the cabin scene from annailation). its a fuck up way to die

I see a lot of people upset about your reaction and I understand why I they are upset but maybe I can help a little because I think I agree with both sides! I don't find scary movies scary because I know they are just movies and this in a way ruins them for me. When I first heard the fiddlesticks voicelines I thought they were quite scary if I were to hear them myself (encounter irl) especially knowing the lore that he can't actually speak and just mimics sounds he's "heard" but I saw this video of the voice actor showing how he does the voices so whenever I listen to it now it's all I listen to and has lost this "scaryness" I think this may be why it's not so scary for you because you definitely noticed how he did them while inhaling and exhaling. That's my 2 cents hopefully this helps even 1 person to be less angry. (Also my comma doesn't work so excuse the lack)

I agree with your assessment its just voicelines, they aren't that scary but the champion itself in game will jumpscare you from time to time as he can pop up over walls and place copies of himself in bushes that when you walk into them.... They react and act as if it is the champ so as a player you react when your not expecting it as a player

It's so much worse if you just picture that Fiddlesticks is copying their voices by keeping their vocal cords and blowing air through them hence why it always sounds gaspy

Bro just cannot appreciate that a primeval embodiment of fear involves more than being a big spooky animal with the subwoofer ribcage to resonate in. I mean yeah, that's *one* aspect of fear, but there's so much more in the universe, and this character is literally as old as that. They are alien, yeah it's gonna be weird, because it doesn't know how to inflect like a sinister evildoer and our concept of "creature that causes fear" is far more limited than the concept as understood by the cosmos itself. This thing resonates with fear, and can sense it sufficiently to effectively alter its behavior to draw it out in anyone, or anything. If it were this guy that's not scared of the "normal" voice, it's not going to keep speaking that way, it's going to reconstruct its simulated larynx, and then it's gonna do exactly what makes this guy piss himself screaming before he dies. The voice as presented in the lines is viewed by the majority of people who hear it as terrifying, so it works for Fiddlesticks because it is presenting itself in a way that evokes fear to a low common denominator, thereby generating as much fear as possible from one finite vocal performance. Don here just happened not to quite fit within that denominator, to which I'll say congratz on being statistically uncommon. Public opinion matters here, though, so Imma stick with the sentiment that the VA did great.

When I first heard this, I had to think of the cockroach guy from M.I.B 1 XD The really creepy part about him is, that Fiddl´s has no Voice. He just imitates what he heard last as good as a can. Wich is the goodbumpy part about him. Also one interesting point is, that he is directly calling out all demons by their true name, but when they die, he calls out their real presentation. For example: Tahm Kench - Addiction.

I think is very instresting to see diferent types of demons ... and i like at fidd the chaotic thing.... from what i know he don.t really speaks like a normal person he just makes some sounds he heard before. For me like a main player of miss fortune is really chilly how he imitate the voice of her mother when she was killed. (not by fidd)

What makes them scarier for me is just knowing his copying the last things said and just imagining it

FUN FACT: most of these voice lines have very little to no editting done. the voice actor has a youtube channel and shows how he does the voice fiddlesticks is the demon of FEAR. he can sense what your most frightful moment was and repeats them back to you so every character interaction he has is the fear of that certain hero. most of them are family members dying in front of them or whatever lol but he repeats what was said. he doesnt recognize anyone OTHER then other demons. when he recognizes another demon he will only say their name "evelynn.. tahm kench.." etcetc

the cool thing is that the voices arent from him, its him mimic the voices of all the people he killed, he dont know how to speak, so he mimic and learn

If u ask me the voice is very good fit the character alot, if u read the lore understand the character u would know why he sound so broken

The demon doesn't have a voice the sound is from him moving air through the body her made himself like wind through trees. All of the voice lines are the last thing his victims said before they died.

What makes Fiddlesticks scary is not how he sounds it's what he's saying. A lot of his lines are him repeating what his victims say but he also reveals a lot of lore his lines towards specific champions reveal that champions fear and a bit about their past. Looking at it as a arcane fan think of his line for jinx. all your fault all your fault he's playing on her fears and PTSD of her getting blamed for causing the deaths of her friends that's what makes him scary he knows what you fear and uses that against you.

I think you two are wrong not to be completely creeped out by this lol. it's not an old creature struggling, it's a creature mimicking his victims struggling. All of those ragged breaths and noises are the people he killed running away or fighting for their life. What makes the whistle and the laughing so haunting in particular is because it's so inhuman, it's not a normal whistle or normal laughter, it's something trying to mimick it. Also most of the voice lines are literally bone chilling, like "don't open your eyes" is very clearly a mother telling her child not to look at what was going to happen to her, and the "I'm so afraid" line legit sounded like fiddlesticks was mocking whoever he killed. It's supposed to sound like fiddlesticks is struggling because he's a none human being replicating human sounds and voices

The VA actually one an award for his performance on this character. I respect your opinion despite how wrong it is XP

i think the lines are creepy, and scary somtimes but it also just depends on what some people find scary. like if its not scary to you its just that it isnt a type of horror you find scary. (i know this is like a year late comment but i didnt see anybody say this sooooooo... hope you see it)

When he says "You're not real" for example, that's what some terrified person said riiiight before he swung the scythe. Now imagine a scholarly type, someone who doesn't believe in supersition, going into the corn field and suddenly getting a first encounter of the worst time with a walking scarecrow and going "F-fiddlesticks its not real. Its just a fable to scare... children?" *SCHNG!* (scythe sweep) The animal sounds are from when it kills some poor, terrified animal. And specially the "See? Its just a scarecrow."
