I think 2018 will be really cool for you guys bc this is the KDA year and we get the live performance there ^^. Soyon is a stable at Riot ^^ I also recommend the 2023 opening ceremony with Heartsteel and co. In 2022 the Jackson Wang live performance is crazy and you can watch it separately if you don't want to watch the whole ceremony.
If you liked the opening ceremony, you should absolutely watch "10 months, 10 minutes". It is a short video in which Riot shows the making of the 2019 ceremony :D
I agree, the 10 months, 10 minutes is great, it outlines the whole creative process that happened behind the scenes, the name of the video comes from the fact it took 10 months to create a show that only lasted for 10 minutes and would only ever be performed a single time. It is really amazing how much work and effort they put into those 10 minutes!
The Korean artist is named Soyeon btw. She is the songwriter, producer and leader of the group (G)I-dle. And she was also part of KD/A with her fellow group member Miyeon. Just for Information!!!
@Rah84eem For all I know I think no one really told them who the members of KDA were. I mean I told them to check out (G)I-dle and told them Miyeon and Soyeon's names and which character they were but I don't think anyone else really said anything. I could be incorrect because I have not watched the video again nor have I looked into the comment section. Also please excuse me if I made any mistake in my comments, English isn't my first language and I'm still learning!
You guys gotta check out 2018! It's the KDA live performance. Not as good as 2019, but it was what got me in love with Soyeon and (G)I-dle, lol! She always brings in the spice.
in worlds 2019 they collaborated with Louis Vuitton. Qiyana and Sena's skin were designed by a LV designer. also there's an entire limited collection of League of Legends X Louis Vuitton. Also the automatic Trunk which cased the Summoners cup was a customized LV trunk.
Late to comment, but for the 2017 opening ceremony the audience could see the dragon!! They handed out glasses when you entered the stadium so you could see the effect as it happened. It was unexpected by everyone and although I did not get to see it in-person, I remember watching the opening ceremony live online and being blown away by it
2019 fun fact: The production team was having technical issues with the trophy box not opening so there was a long silence before the box opened. The production was already celebrating when they saw the box open.
Soyeon may be little, but has the biggest stage presence! I remember when behind the scenes stuff came out of all the members of true damage preparing for their performance together and they kept saying Soyeon was so shy when they were just talking, but it was like she turned into a different person when she was rapping and performing. For other worlds I really recommend 2018 if not just K/DA's performance (more Soyeon and her fellow (G)I-DLE member Miyeon aka Ahri)! For 2022 I think I would just recommend checking out Jackson Wang's performance since his performance is the entire reason they got a round stage. And then you could react to 2023, obviously since it's the most recent, but also because it's fun to see Hearsteel and the performance of GODS live.
Pheonix is such a great song to reveal the cup on because at the time it was the first worlds final without skt after being in the finals for 3 or 4 years in a row and faker is "the demon king" so in the chorus of pheonix is says "its time for a new empire, go bury your demons(faker), and tear down the ceiling and fly"
Something not a lot of people talk about, Riot actually got some flame from the playerbase for the 2021 worlds opening being all about arcane and not about the pro players/pro scene. They actually addressed it recently saying going forward the worlds opening will be, mainly, a celebration of the pro scene as it was originally intended. Some arcane stuff and other things might be included but it won't be the main focus.
against the current is an insanely good liveband. probably the audio issues made them sound a bit weaker than usual. though they still play that song at the end of their setlists. their concerts are worth a visit!
nah i need a 2020 and a 2021 reaction now then ill be happy. I really have enjoyed how you guys have seem to fallen in love with the league universe. its been a joy to see
Nowadays opening ceremonies have three songs, the one from the cinematic that opnes the season, one from riot music or some of league skins, KDA, True Damage, heartsteel. And the last song is the worlds song.
So it wasnt holograms but theres a fine net around the entire stage that allows them to project video onto it. If you watch the making of they were super nervous if it was all going to work since they only had access to the venue something like 3 days before. They were working wkth a small scale model before that. Also the day of the trophy case didnt open during the run through test. Luckily ot worked live tho.
2019 is my favorite Worlds opening ceremony, Phoenix is such a 🔥 song for getting a nice mental boost. Also, the Korean blonde girl in True Damage representing Akali is Jeon So-yeon (commonly known as Soyeon), the insanely talented rapper, singer, songwritter, producer and leader of the very popular K-Pop group (G)I-DLE. Check out some of their songs if you haven't heard of them and are interested (e.g. LATATA, TOMBOY, LION, HANN, HWAA, etc). They are one of my favorite 4th gen K-Pop groups, absolutely love em and would recommend them to anyone. BTW, don't know if you knew this but she is also in K/DA performing as of course also Akali, along with her (G)I-DLE bandmate Miyeon who's performing as Ahri.
The 2017 dragon is from the actual game, its called the Elder Drake and its the last dragon you can get in the game, it gives your whole team insane powerups. Lore wise he doesn't do much. Hes really powerful and knowledgeable but doesn't interreacting with humans.
Though I really like the open arenas the closed ones with smaller crowds are so far so much better with the usage of the effects... Really hope the O2 arena this year will bring out their guns!
it's funny, i didnt rly care for the phoenix song until i saw the live perfomance. then it became my favorite league song. that performance was amazing
2022 ceremony was really good and so was the series/games and the stories of the two teams. I really recommend you watch a video on the story about the final series in 2022, there are a few of them because the story was unbelievable! Also the 2019 series was a onesided stomp. Besides the Chinese team being called "FunPlus Phoenix" and "Phoenix" being that year's anthem, they also destroyed the EU team 3/0.
there are a few league songs people miss cause they arent the main ones but are still great like "run it". i would also say since you like Chrissy Costanza and against the current they did a region song called "wildfire". there are 4 major regions in league pro play. most years they come out with a song. i dont remember what year it was but they made that song and its good.
My personal favorite Worlds opening is the one with Lil Nas X. I just really enjoyed every song and it's choreo in that performance more than the others
as a G2 (European team) fan it was amazing experience. Unfortunately they lost pretty bad. But My fav band True Damage, G2, Europe was so special for me. My favourite but very bitter Worlds
my favorite opening is 2023, heavy investment, the biggest screen in history, new jeans at their prime in 2023 and seeing the goat faker at the top once again.
The guy with the flag is former G2 player Luka "PerkZ" Perković and the flag is the Croatian flag cause he's from there, same as me. Since it's a small country of about 4 million people and as far as I know he's the only Croatian pro player that was most probably the only time a Croatian player will be in the Worlds finals so he was probably extra proud and wanted to represent his country. Sadly G2 lost to the Chinese team FPX 0-3 in those finals.
depending on how interested you are in the stories behind the pro scenes you could react to the teasers for the worlds last year with particularly amazing ones being the swiss stage teaser and the semi final and final ones. They have some great editing and story telling in them.
3:17 the choreography is actually on point, the represent the minions in game (little NPC thingies u kill to get gold) personally i find it a bit unfair to judge the whole performance, only by the one part uve seen xd anways, i recommend the full ceremony of 2013 (no it's not a typoe, i mean the ceremony from Season 3, with Limp Bizkit ) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1RVXAj4qkAA.html
The People could see the dragon, the crowd got glasses with their seat so they could watch it live in front of them. later on they improved upon this technology/changed it abit
