"Is there anything as undoing as a daughter?" was Silco's final line near the statue. That all but solidifies he wouldn't have done it. He finally understood Vander's reasoning.
Why is everyone always blaming Jayce for the situation ? He was on the council for a week, was in charge for 3 days, was constantly fed false/contradicting information and somehow he was supposed to solve centuries of abuse and bias ? He tried his best and did more than anybody else to save the situation. Silco was never going to give up Jinx. His first reaction when Jayce laid his conditions was to offer himself. And he talked to Vander's statue because he was going to do the same thing his old friend did years ago : sacrifice his cause and himself to save his daughter. The real villain of the story is Piltover itself. Everything bad that happens is because of the mistreatment of the Undercity by Piltover. Jinx is just the catalyst.
Sigh, literal corrupt head of Police/Sheriff working for Silco who wanted Piltover's downfall, and Jinx causing deaths all her life and yet people manage to blame it on Jayce - I really hate that bs.
He wasn't going to give her up; that's why he was talking to Vander's statue; he finally understood why Vander gave up everything to protect his kids. Also, even if he wanted, it's not like he could simply capture Jinx; after the surgery, she literally turned into a monster: her body can produce shimmer when threatened.
Jinx got flash (a LoL in-game ability) installed. she used flash twice in EP9. Flash has a 300 second cooldown. Jinx uses flash to snatch PowPow back and clobbered Caitlyn. Go back 300 seconds when she is talking with Vi. You will see Vi talking to jinx in the shadows off one shoulder, then suddenly Jinx is off the other shoulder on the other side of the room in a blink, she does this to disorient Vi during the conversation.
No one gives Jayce any credit, but the more I re-watch this show, the more I find I respect him and his position. He's the only one who truly values human life and is working to try to make things better for other people. He's the only one willing to make any compromises. Vi and Silco are so adamant about getting what they want that they are both willing to kill children to get it; Jayce is the only one in the show willing to bend. Kind of like how one of the biggest problems in politics is how everyone complains about political leaders being unwilling to compromise and work together, but what they really want is the politicians on the "other side" to compromise on everything and for the politicians on "their side" to never compromise on anything.
I agree. I think too many viewers were so eager to write Jayce off as an idealistic himbo and didn't notice that he's the only one in the show whose trying to do the right thing for unselfish reasons.
so much happens during the tea party you could write an entire essay on it but i will point out a small bit - when Jinx says Vi made Jinx, i don't think she means what a lot of people think. in either ep 1 or 2 Vi says to Powder "what makes you different, makes you stronger". at the end of the tea party Jinx says to Vi " I thought maybe you could love me like you used to, even though i'm *scoffs* different". i believe this is what she meant - she did become stronger but she had to become Jinx to do so. Powder would've died. unfortunately Vi loved Powder and Silco was right, she had realised she wasn't Powder anymore and she betrayed her at the council meeting. Jinx/Powder has always been Jinx/Powder - when Powder was dominant, she needed her sister and the Jinx inside her screwed things up. when she was Jinx, she was basically (in Silco's eyes) perfect. if Silco hadn't died i think Jinx would have gone off and done her own thing anyway (she knew Vi and Caitlyn were a thing), leaving Vi and Silco behind. Shimmer had turned her into something else but she still wanted to know if Vi loved Jinx. as it turned out, she got her answer
I mean... even if Vander managed to survive everything that happened to his body... Silco was right there and would never have let him continue to live.
Silco would have never given Jinx over. There is nothing so undoing as a daughter. I have two, and indeed there is nothing so undoing. You guys need to watch the S2 trailers.
Seats on the council are hereditary as well, so it could be interesting to see what happens if Mel's mom and Caitlyn are now on it and making the decisions for how Piltover will respond to this attack
As much as Silco is a bad guy, I genuinely think he wouldn't have given up Jinx. Perhaps he thought about it, but in the end, I believed his love for Jinx outweighed his desire for Zaun.
Oh I absolutely think it's clear that he wouldn't have given her up. His monologue to Vander's statue demonstrates that he finally understands why Vander turned away from the violence. Before, he couldn't comprehend why someone would betray their ideals but then as soon as he's given a dilemma of his own, then "it all makes sense now brother."
It's so interesting that we see Silco most likely choose Jinx over his city here, we see Vander choose Vi over protecting his city from Silco in episode 3, and we even see Jayce choose to put his city at risk in order to save Viktor's life The only leader who actually tries to protect the citizens in his charge over the life of his own protege is Heimerdinger
Silco definitely wasn't going to give up Jinx, and I think he was kinda pissed at himself about it. In the conversation with Vander's statue he's like "all we ever wanted and all I lose is problems" but he still can't bring himself to do it. Unfortunately Jinx filtered his words through her paranoia and came to the wrong conclusion.
"In the pursuit of great, we failed to do good." Such a great line that underscores the arcs of those two characters. For the whole season, they're worried about Hextech falling into the wrong hands, laboring under the assumption that theirs are the right hands. But of course the first two innocent casualties of Hextech are at the hands of Victor and Jayce.
Lord I wish yall would pause instead of speaking over the dialogue... talking over Silco's final words is so 🤦♀ also where did Jinx not choosing to shoot the council come from - that was her first act after truly becoming Jinx - to blow up the thing she sees as being the cause of all the pain of everyone she ever cared about.
When she chose to be Powder the first time because she just wanted to help , she accidentally killed her father and friends. When she chose to be Powder the second time because she wanted to save Vi, she accidentally killed her second father. Powder always messes things up but when she's Jinx, she's perfect like a genius mechanic & hot fighter.
Vander once asked Silko "Are you ready for the death of everyone for this war?". Before he died he realized the answer to that question. Silko gave up everything for his little daughter just like Vander.
Ok, alot of people watching arcane forget that the characters don't see what we do. It's easy to forget since we see alot of character's pov. You can't get mad at jayce for specific things that are going on in the underground when he literally DOESN'T KNOW.
Jinx jinxing it up! Mylo called Powder a "jinx" first. Vi in anger just called her that. What a great series. The story, characters, animation, art music are incredible. DO yourselves a favor and watch "Bridging the Rift: The making of Arcane" here on YT. You will be amazed at how it even got made. Season 2 in November! I don't know why it's the final one. We can go on from here and what I have in my head cannon. There are a couple of previews out there but I suggest you stay away from them. Great reactions guys, but you "weren't watching" as Jinx shot the Mylo dummy and it fell over, breaking a glass that rolled towards Caitlyn with her looking at it. You'll catch it on a rewatch. The show is great for that. Shame we didn't see the Jayce saving Victor scene.
I know youre not anti jinx persay but I find it kind of cool to hear a different perspective. I think a large amount of people are team jinx, but imagine if you lost someone you love to a psycho? Maybe Mel's mom wqs awful but pragmatic "kill one and save thousands".
I see Jinx as an unwitting agent of The Fates, like in Greek tragedy. No matter her intentions, her actions set the world on a particular unavoidable path.
