To each their own, but Angela put her all into being the front man of that incredibly gifted death metal band. I still remember the first time I EVER heard them, I was 🤯 . Will never forget it ( May have heard a couple songs before, but my first encounter with AE was Ravenous.) Mind was blown, I was hooked.
In flames, Dark tranquility and at the gates are the big 3 godfathers of the genre. AE was a little later but they’re still one of the influential heavy hitters from earlier on
@@puppetmaster8551 I feel like carcass's I think third album? Anyways one of the earlier ones with amott still in it before AE was right with DT IF and ATG and arch enemy is basically just ammott anyways so its basically good enough to say arch enemy through Michael ammott and his involvement in early melodeath through carcuss was apart of the pioneering of melodeath
@@kalebcech2362 carcass’s heartwork is really like the first official full on melodeath record that got attention, that was Amott’s 2nd of 2 albums he recorded while apart of carcass. I mainly just mentioned In flames/DT/at the gates because they’re the big 3 of the 90s melodeath movement and the Gothenburg melodeath scene those 3 were apart of is iconic and super important for the genre, carcass also didn’t continue releasing straight up melodeath albums throughout the 90s like the big 3 so that probably plays a part in why they’re overlooked. Heartwork was incredibly important for melodeath even if they weren’t from Sweden like the big 3 were, they don’t get as much attention but there is no doubt heartwork is one of the 5 most important records in the genre, you could prob make an argument for it being the most important. Fantastic album and band. One thing forsure tho that isnt accurate is that arch enemy were the godfathers of melodeath, the original poster who I replied to saying they were is just wrong, they were important for the genre but the real godfathers of melodeath are carcass/in flames/DT/ at the gates.
The fact that Johan could sound so brutal and primal even without doing the full definition growl is still astonishing and in my opinion much better suited for this particular Arch Enemy era, but I like Angela and her energy, such beast.
Mitchell Melvin The thing that annoys me about Angela is that she tried to hard on the chorus. I love how johan yelled BURY ME AN ANGEL but how Angela screams it makes me cringe.
@@claym3040 Angela is so much better it is not even close. Her growls are so super heavy it sounds awesome. I don't even need to know what she's saying because it sounds so good. But with the Internet you can easily find the lyrics if you are so concerned. And I am not a death metal fan. I just like good music and this is amazing.
