Angela had managed the band for like 8 years when she stepped down. She just had enough with the touring that she basically had done for 13 years. She started managing when she discovered that their previous manager was basically gouging the band. She could do it better for much less. She still manages Arch Enemy, Amaranthe and Alissa's solo project to this day. Yes she was friends with Alissa for many years before she stepped down. They met sometime in like 2002-2004 or something. Arch Enemy with Angela was Alissa's first time hearing metal. She came out to the show and befriended Angela. She also started incorporating death metal vocals in her own band (inspired by Angela) which caught the attention of Angela. Death metal girls stick together it seems. It's kind of a neat story that she then later came to take over in Arch Enemy. Not many people get to play in the bands that first got them into the genre as a listener. Imagine that. 🤘🤘🤘😁
What a surprising coincidence that you bring up the Misfits. Alissa often wears Misfits logos on her clothes. Doyle von Frankenstein is her partner. Half the time Doyle is interviewed or photographed he's wearing AE merch. That's funny because the musical style is quite a bit different. Michael Amott (AE founder) is also a punk fan, as well as Alissa so it all ties together. Their dream is to tour together. Doyle can open for AE and they can open for Megadeth or something. 😁

Spot on analysis about the change in singers. Well done. There will never be another Angela, she was a brutal beast, but Alyssa holds her own. In fact, she's pretty good I think. However, if I'm honest I'll always like Gossow's brutal vocals just a bit more. Regardless, I'm very happy that Arch Enemy is still making metal.
Hey man I stumbled upon your reactions and I totally get where you’re coming from. I’m an old school Merciful Fate and King Diamond fan. They are top 5 for me. When Arch Enemy came out they killed it but then Johan left and Angela stepped in and I was so upset. Then I heard her shredding vocals and the beautiful guitars and Sharlee Diangelo himself from Merciful playing bass and I had no worries. The first decade of the 2000’s we’re great time for metal!! I am honored to say that I saw Arch Enemy open for King Diamond on his Give Me Your Soul tour. Blew my mind and didn’t see him again until the Mayhem tour 2015 at the Red Rocks show. It was a religious experience....🤘🤘
I had the privilege of seeing King at The Wiltern Theater on Halloween 2014...the night he had food poisoning unfortunately so he wasn't totally on point with his performance. He had to keep going backstage like every 2-3 songs to "take care of business". Still a great show, one I'll never forget.
Crazy, I hadn’t heard about that! I’m so thankful I got to see him once again in Nov 2019 on the Institute tour right before everything went to hell. The whole band was in top form.
You asked to see AE live with Alissa. There is one video on youtube most react to and it's Nemesis at Wacken 2016. It's among other things a display of Alissa's vocals and energy. It's not her best side, but it's quite dramatic. On the other hand for the absolute best vocals and recording quality check out the Tokyo 2015 show. The intro song "Never forgive never forget" isn't very famous but it's so intense that they rarely play it live. It's too exhausting apparently. Drums and guitars get zero rest. There are tons of amazing performances in this show, among others War Eternal, Bury Me An Angel, Silverwing, The Day You Died, Taking Back My Soul etc. Most are older songs with ridiculous vocals and sound quality. At times they even outshine Angela. If you want to hear a newer song played live maybe "First Day In Hell" from Wacken 2018 or Summer Breeze 2018 (famous vid on youtube). The lyrics are by Alissa and it's about her grandparents and the Holocaust. Musically not extreme, just creepy. One of my personal favorites is "Dead Bury Their Dead" at Wacken 2018. It's quite brutal with some room for instruments and vocals to shine (nightmare warning). I am not a big fan of death growling but this band I love it. Cause I can still hear what she is saying in the growls. Most growlers is just gibberish and you can't make out an words in English. Or maybe I am just to old, lol .

Speaking of King Diamond.. Andy also used that cricket tremolo sound during his solo part in the song Arrival on the Abigail album Just another band that has such a unique sound

Just remember one thing about the AE ladies, their vocal styles/techniques are completely different, Alissa is Fry Scream and Angela is False Cord, so it all comes down to personal preference. Mine is Alissa, I like her better, she has a more dynamic voice, not to mention her clean vocals which is amazingly good and beautiful. I just love her voice, but it's like I said, personal preference.
I’m just realizing how incredibly good their guitar leads are. So essential to their sound. And that whole studio album is solid and killer. As for vocals I tend to prefer lower unclean voices, but I think both Angela and Alissa are totally badass metal women.

These guitarists helps me feel a little better about being Swedish but it's this song that I keep coming back to. The rest I have heard so far just don't attract me as much. Alissa ( _from Canada_ ) is looking really hot but this kind of singing isn't really my cup of tea. But the music is great.
I hated the vocals the first time I heard these guys, but I looooooved the instrumental ability and talent so I stuck around. The vocals slowly grew on me over time, even though I've really only heard one song from them.
@@THEDavidHeretic That description kind of describes how I came to love The Warning. At first, it wasn't the sound but the spirit and rock soul that got to me. Your reaction to their Atlas Rise cover was actually spot on. It's not really the sound that gets to you but their love for performing playing rock. I think that those who saw that performance live had an emotional experience seeing them covering a famous band like that. Over the years when I have preferred reactors view their first cover of that song many have objected and said that they play it better at The Whisky. That might be correct, but for me, the first cover ( _recorded two years earlier_ ) was more impressive because it was performed only 4 days after they first heard that song ( _that came out the same year_ ) and I could see much better how they performed ( _it being recorded in their basement_ ). The reason why they did that cover, to begin with, wasn't that they really liked that song. The reason was that they had been spending about a year on producing their first album and really felt like playing something completely different for a change. Since Metallica was going to play in their home town that week they figured that a tribute to Metallica would be great and they found this song and thought that it could be a good choice. I loved how well they performed on such short notice and also really enjoyed their faces when performing it. The only reason why they performed it two years later at The Whisky was because an important fan really wanted them to. Even if they perhaps performed it better at The Whisky my opinion still is that only Ale did it better on her bass but that hardly showed in the video that you reacted to anyway. The younger versions of Danny and Pau impressed me more in the two years older version. The song ( _like you said_ ) is what it is in both. Perhaps, their 2014 version of *Enter Sandman* ( _with over 22 million views on RU-vid_ ) is more impressive, but in my opinion, it is due to their ages ( _9, 12, and 14_ ) and not how they perform. I've heard several rumors. But Michael brought the matter up himself in an interview when asked "whats the craziest rumor about you?" he said that we're married. He says no, not at all. So maybe they had a fling while back or something. But I've heard people say they even have a kid together, but that could be just crazy talk. Not sure Angela played such a role in training Alissa, but she certainly inspired her and gave her the stamp of approval. By the way, Alissa has incredibly gorgeous clean vocals, but she hasn't used them with AE. But check out her previous band, The Agonist, for some amazing, soaring soprano tones.
