I'm sure they'll keep it at a minimum as to not alienate older fans. I love Alissa's albums with The Agonist and only started listening to Arch Enemy when she joined. I actually don't like death metal, but with her it's different.
I just watched an interview where she said something about "this is the first situation where it felt right to use clean vocals for the majority of the songs".
I wonder why there aren't any songs by Jeff Loomis on the Album so far, he's one of the greatest composers I've ever heard be it solo or with Nevermore. Since Arch Enemy's formula post 2000 is starting to sound repetitive, it would be interesting to have a great composer like Loomis co-write the album.
ricardo fusco Michael simply stated that if Loomis wrote a track, it wouldn't sound like Arch Enemy. I personally think AE would prosper if he was allowed to write.

I really really love the new things that Arch Enemy is trying! Alyssa is the best vocalist i've evet seen and Michael is an amazing guitar making amazing songs et lyrics !
I really really like Alissa having vocal freedom and doing a lot of clean singing. She's awesome and super talented. But I'm quite skeptical of hearing that in an Arch Enemy album. I don't think I'll be pleased, neither will AE hardcore fans. Still keeping my fingers crossed.
The album songs are astounding... All spectacular hits: (should be #1 hits): "A Fight I Must Win", "Reason to Believe", "Dreams of Retribution", "Murder Scene", "Blood in the Waters". This band is going to be incredibly famous in the next few years. I wasn't even that satisfied with "World is yours" and "eagle flies alone". So glad I bought the album.
Magnificent album until now! In addition to following the eternal war album line, we have a ballad and a smell of the clean voice of Alissa. I love the growling voices of Angela and Alissa, the strongest hallmark of Arch Enemy image after 2000, but the clean voice of Alissa also combines well...In my opinion, Arch Enemy remains creative, alive and linked to its roots.
They've definitely done the right thing with the clean vocals. Teased it ever so slightly in war eternal, then have a clean song in will to power with other teases throughout the album. They've tested the water with it and it's refreshing to see the general reaction to it has been fairly positive
That's the biggest lie if I ever heard one! I heard the album myself and it's far from mediocre sure it's not straying to far from it's roots but it's definitely energetic and killer ride all the way through. I like both eras of Angela and Alissa so before you try to throw that argument in my face how about just dropping it all together.
Best presentation of a Metal album to me. Indeed this is very formal, I mean, A metal/music album presented so friendly is something I have not seen before. Arch Enemy is in a very high level indeed. Best of metal.
That solo beginning from "Blood In The Water" always reminds me of the chorus of Nightwish's "Bye Bye Beautiful" you can just sing it along with the guitar lol. its probably coincidence or just me.. but i love it
So hyped about Blood in the Water if it's favorite song of Alissa it must be god Reason to believe... well damn son I can't wait for that, melody at first reminded my of Graveyard of Dreams from previous album WILL TO FUCKING POWER!
I don't know why everyone is freaking out about clean voice , Rob Hanford sang clean and it wasn't any less metal, who cares if the music and vocals are great? Stop labeling shit just enjoy or walk away if it's not for you. I've seen the music evolve from black sabbath to Behemoth and back, been listening to metal since 1975 , I think clean vocals are coming back, killswitch engage, amaranth, and others that prove you don't need to growl all the time to be metal. listen to the first track ok Khrim lechner. Gedankenkarrussell and tell me if the clean vocals make it any less metal, that is one of the most brutal albums I've heard to this date. Yes I know there are more brutal but they lose musicality in order to be more aggressive, his album has the extreme aggression, the musicality, and the creativity of modern metal that a lot of other bands are missing.
lucyferina If this is one of the most brutal albums you've heard, then you need to hear a lot more metal. I'm not joking, there's tons of fantastic bands out there both brutal and musical / creative. As much as I may enjoy Arch Enemy, to call them one of the best things ever is kind of a blasphemy when you have bands such as Ne Obliviscaris or (old) Opeth around.
volimNestea I never called archenemy the best or the most metal, hell, ever since Angela left they are not even that good anymore, the point was clean vocals don't make a song less metal, and about brutal, I did say there are a lot of more brutal bands out there, some I like some I don't, I do have a life that involves work , motorcycle riding, drumming, traveling, so when I do have time yo listen to music, I don't waste it labeling it and being an elitist ass.
volimNestea I listened to your suggested bands ,found them boring, the musicality is definitely there, but I guess in my opinion the constant changes kill the mood which makes it not for me which doesn't make them any less good. But that is just my opinion don't get all offended because I don't share your taste.
lucyferina I misread your comment, I thought you said Will to Power is the most brutal. Anyhow, it's fine if you don't like them, but you still recognize the musicality/brutality blend, which is what matters. By the way, you dislike those bands for the exact same reasons why I love them. I just can't listen to the same thing for an hour, it gets very boring for me if nothing changes. That's why I'm really excited to hear the balad, because it's different and makes the whole album a lot more interesting.
Love their experimentation with styles, love the messages they're trying to convey and I won't argue that Michael is an insanely talented dude, however I still feel like AE would benefit from being more of a group effort when it comes to composition. I wonder why Michael wants to continue doing it this way forever it seems, despite having a couple of bizarre composers in his band who definitely would spice things up even more. Giving the solid Arch Enemy style a subtle flavor of Nevermore and The Agonist. Idunno, maybe that's already being done but I just haven't heard it yet! Still can't wait for the album, will definitely check it out.
i am super excited to hear Blood in the water and Reason to believe. Blood in the water, coz Alissa herself stated its onw of the best! Reason to believe because thats something new and unique in Arch enemy's history. as we all know Alissa is the best screamer. se is also gifted with a very melodious voice when she sings normal. so, I am super excited. Arch Enemy for life. @archenemy @alissawhitegluz #alissawhitegluz
was pretty worried about the clean vocals on Reason to Believe, being as I've never been a fan of Alissa's clean vocals. At least not in the Agonist. The clean/unclean mix in that band never worked for me. But she fucking nailed it on Reason to Believe! It works really well in my opinion! Loving the album. Don't know if it's better than War Eternal, but it's pretty good!
Yeah, "Reason to believe" is the first ballad of Arch Enemy, but I can't remind any ballad recorded by old The Agonist or Kamelot with Alissa... Maybe she already wrote one for ALISSA project, but still - it's the first ballad officially recorded by Alissa, isn't it?
Mir gefällt die Entwicklung von Arch Enemy. Bin sehr gespannt auf das neue Album. Die beiden Singles sind schon mal super. The Eagle flies alone finde ich richtig packend. 🤘🤘🤘
So, Michael is a genius and all when it comes to lirycs, but its starting to bother me that just him and Daniel are the ones taking full credit for the album.
