I've never paid any attention to tiling window managers, but after watching this, I really want to try out Hyperland. Everything is just so smooth and beautiful. Thank you so much for this video.
I use Linux less than a year. I used Ubuntu, last month I migrate to Manjaro, and this week I migrate to Arch. I never saw a graphic S.O. in this way, and I loved. One day, when I learn more about arch, maybe one day, I will install your version. So much beatiful. I love the transparent without top bar terminal.
@@SolDoesTech I am currently shifted to Ubuntu from windows 10 pro , why the app opening time and overall it feels slow compared to windows , should i shift to another distro like Arch ? (Note: my pc has Intel pentium processer, 4gb ram and HDD).
@@zakirdeshmukh9916 try to find out what you want to do with your computer; coding, video editing, music authoring, etc. and find a distro that fits your needs and desired effort level. Arch is nice but it does require a lot of knowledge about configuring your system from scratch. An out of the box distro might get you going quicker but you may lose out on the opportunity to force yourself to learn the intricacies of linux and arch. Arch does have an official install script now. I recommend if you do use arch choose the desktop setting and choose a launcher of your choice. This should get you a graphical interface to start you off with and you can go from there.
Been using Ubuntu for 1 year, I had never used Linux before that. Tonight I did a fresh install of hyprland (following this tutorial) on both my laptop and pc. I’ll be daily driving it from here on out. Thanks for the great tutorial.. And also great work if you are the one behind hyprland (pretty sure you are!) thanks again.
Hello and thank you for the comment! Glad to hear the install script worked for you. I am not the developer of Hyprland, that honor goes to "Vaxry" github.com/vaxerski . My project is creating a script that installs the necessary packages and setup a config that makes it easy to get started with Hyprland :) thank you again for the kind words and thank you for watching!
Thank you so much for this! Managed to install it on my laptop really really quick, I still need to get used to the workflow coming from kde plasma lol Hyprland does look beautiful, love the animations
Hello and thank you for the comment. I am glad to hear that you got it all setup. Yes the workflow is a bit different but once you get used to it you would definitely see the advantages:) have fun customizing and thank you for watching!
@@SolDoesTech Hey, I'm a totally beginner at Arch Linux, I've followed your tutorial for ten times, try to reboot the usb and do the same thing, but i still met the error "nmcli: command not found" and can connect to the Internet before install Arch, I thought I had some problems with pacman package, so can u give me some advices at glance or can i had your contact to have some more helps. Much appreciation on your work, have a great day.
Omg I love your gui. At the end of the day it doesn’t matter because you spend all day staring at a terminal but still…. I enjoy the process of setting up a new clean system - especially when it looks as good as this.
amazinggg man i was rly struggling with hyprland on my device i start a new clean installation with you and everything went fine i'm waiting for more configuration like this
Thank you for the comment! I am very happy to hear as this is exactly the reason I made this video :) I have some ideas for additional configs so I hope to be able to deliver them soon. Thank you for watching!
For beginners, this is A tier installation guide, even though it is an installer, it helps out great. The Color scheme and background were really nice so I "borrowed" the background and color scheme.
This channel is so underrated, the quality of the video is so good, keep up the good work man! This tutorial really helped me out setup things, thank you.
I just loaded this on one of my primary systems. So it will be used daily! Thank you so much. I decided to try BTRFS with compression. I set compression during the install process, but it didn't update the /etc/fstab I will do it manually but you might want to check the build script.
Thank yo for the comment! very glad to hear you would be daily driving this :) As far as the filesystem, that option is from archinstall script which is not written or maintained by me so unfortunately I will not be able to assist with that feedback. With that said, that install script is fairly new and the Arch team is always updating it so its possible a fix for this would be in sometime soon. Thanks again for the comment and thank you for watching!
Welcome to the world of computing my friend 😂 I'm sorry this doesn't work now, but I'm sure you can find some other tutorials and search it for yourself, goodluck.
After entering the commands to install Arch completely manually in the past, I was no longer able to do this! Keep getting error messages after hours of entering assignments. This installation was easy, and I want to thank you for it! Also for the Hyprland setup!
Love this, thank you very much. I have managed a couple of changes to the waybar; changing the clock to my personal preference wasn't too difficult however I am stumped on the weather python script. Being in UK we have for many years used Centigrade, but the weather shows Fahrenheit, which hardly anyone except USA uses anymore. Similarly the CPU temperature, which I actually managed to change to Centigrade.
I have a complete to my purposes fitting i3 and herbstluftwm configuration but man, that took a while to get perfect. Now I am just going the quick way, so thanks for providing this and make it so easy!
Hello, that's fantastic! its the reason I created this video :) I am working on another config that would have additional functionality so that's coming soon! Thank you for watching!
Very impresive video, pretty well made and explained , easy to follow, but i would really like to see a full step by step video on how to get all these configurations done.
Thank you! Very simple and functional theme, while also looking great. Imo, this hundred times better than all the futuristic looking themes that pull tons of packages, but still look cartoonish and fail to deliver.
Sol, thank you so much! I had been using kubuntu on my thinkpad for a while and decided to try out arch + hyprland, and guess what? it runs absolutely great!! I did not have to install hyprland from scratch because of your config. Thanks again my dude!!
@@-flixz Hello, glad to hear you got Hyprland working but sounds like the waybar had failed. I did see you posted on the V3 so I assume that got you fixed so let me know if you still need help with V1
Hello and thank you for the comment. I would be interested to know how well the config files worked so if you can please drop me a line, I would appreciate it. Also please note that the script I have for setting everything up would overwrite any existing configs. So just keep that in mind if you plan to run the "set-hypr" script on an existing system. Thank you for watching!
@@SolDoesTech It didn't want to install from the script for me, so I used yay. Everything starts at least on first reading. The only thing I notice is that the waybar does not work correctly for me. EndeavourOS with sway as a base.
@@SolDoesTech It didn't load the whole right and middle part for me, but after entering the correct config file, things were fine, now comes the customization process
Great video, sorry if I messed with the algorithm by watching in 1.5x speed, I'm in a bit of a time crunch. Just wanted to advise that the boot menu isn't always accessed by holding esc key when powering on. This point could cause some confusion for some users without some kind of disclaimer in the video or someplace easily visible to them. I for one have 3 machines, my main uses esc, my secondary uses f12 and my third (which i barely use) takes f2 for the boot menu.
Thank you so much ! You know, I am a windows user, but I started to learn coding (actually JavaScript), and I use terminal for Git/GitHub for save my work, and use NPM for some package. I LOVE that, I feel I can understand and control my environment, it’s amazing, but since long time, I feel Windows is too much intrusive in my life, too much question, or many updates I don’t want, many process I don’t want, it’s like a big spyware box who « eat » my laptop. Sorry, my English is good, but I try to do my best for explain you : I thought many time to use Linux and learn how to use it, for have a better quality life with computer environment, and soon, my work environment. But you know, the first step is the most difficult…..but your video give me confidence, and now, I am feeling ready :) I just bought another laptop, a second hand old Lenovo laptop X270, today I follow your steps. I’m currently a junior in highschool. I’m forced to use a MacBook for school and it’s pretty nice but I hate how little I can customize it. I’ll remember this video when I buy my own pc laptop after I graduate ❤
after yay -S hyprland-bin See if that installs, if it does you can then execute Hyprland with a capital H and it should show you the GUI: I have a black screen
Hello sorry that it didnt work for you :( I am working on a V2 of the script that has some more error checking as well as logging. I also added some additional tools based on the feedback I got :) I will be releasing a video soon with the new version so maybe that one would work better for you. Thank you for watching!

hello and thank you for the comment. Unfortunately I am not sure what would cause that issue, sorry I am not able to help but thank you for watching :)
Ohh... This is impossible fantastic. Many thanks for this ready-made extremely useful config file. This is perfect beginning to start hyprland tiling window manager. I will review these codes to find out. Thank you very much o7.
i managed to install it.everything works fine, but eh top bar which shows battery, time, date volume is missing. i remember some builds failed with your hyprland github repo.
Hello and thank you for the feedback, have you considered using the V4 version? This one has some fixes that should help with this. You can just install it on top of this version which is basically the V1. If you like the V1 look better then just hit the V icon in the waybar and it would flip through all the versions from V1 to V4 you can checkout the V4 video here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-whAi_y_LfEE.html Thank you for watching!
As I go through your video, I'll post some quick tips and re-edit my comment to add them: 1 - iwctl station connect then put in your Wi-Fi password when you are prompted. I prefer this rather than interactive mode. 2 - You should install microcode in the additional packages. intel-ucode or amd-ucode. 3 - on first boot, nmtui to setup network. It's ncurses menu driven and just easy. 4 - Great video. Thank you!
So Sol, what is stopping you from setting up Calamares installer? You could have your own distro with no real work for your users. this was an interesting guide. Interesting that you used lots of Sway components and looks that were first shared on places like unixporn. It is spotless. I run my own setup, but I can appreciate yours. May the Arch be with you.
Hello, so first thank you for the comment. I must admit that when i posted this video I wasn't expecting such positive feedback. I am currently working on a V2 of this video with lots of fixes from the feedback i received. As far as making a Calamares installer and going down a distro fork.. didnt think that far out but i thank you for placing the idea in my head :D Thank you for watching my video and thanks again for the kind words. May the Arch be with you as well! :)
Yeah, you have to go into that config file and basically remove the lines giving you conflicts. There will be a few more, essentially anything that has a blur parameter in that section.
I installed this in virtual box all was going well until the setup script part in the installation I'm getting an error that say's 'Failed to enable unit:Unit file bluetooth.service does not exist' then at the end when it say" would you like to start Hyprland now?" i type "y" and then get another error "./set-hypr: line 136:exec Hyprland: not found" can somebody plz help me how can i fix this problem?
Hello and thank you for the question. My script is geared toward Arch so if you want to get this working on anything else you will need to install the necessary packages by hand and once that is complete you can use the script to have it copy the config. With that said, please note that the script does run other commands that may not work on other distros so you may want to review it before you execute, also.. make sure you have a good backup just in case :) thank you for watching!
Hello and thank you for the comment. I think I see the issue here but at this point I would recommend to try the new script described here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8GmpCwBqHCA.html it takes care of most of these issues. Thank you for watching!

so thats odd since it's a public repo but you are the 2nd person who mentioned that so I'm not sure why it's doing that... honestly just try and find a newer video, some of this stuff is outdated. this youtuber also made a tutorial V2, maybe check it out, but i haven't tried the other vid yet
Hello, thank you for trying out my script. This was one of the issues that others have given me feedback about so i created an improved script that sets up a login manager to make it easier to login and use Hyprland. I'm disappointed, i didn't expect a "how to run my script" video, but still, that's a good showcase, I'll definitely return to get some ideas for my own setup, thanks!
Hello and thank you for the question. So hyprland is in beta and its not designed with Nvidia GPUs in mind. With that said, I have found from the feedback that about 80-90% of the viewers who installed using the script were successful. Also to note that this is the first version of the install script and we are now on Version 4 with improved Nvidia support. I would recommend to take al ook at this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-whAi_y_LfEE.html if you plan to give this a try. Thank you for watching :)
Hello and thank you for the comment, unfortunately this setup is not going to work with Hyprland on a VM due to the graphic requirements. I myself use a VM for testing of my code on Nvidia via QEMU but I do a GPU passthrough and thats the only way I was able to get to work. Thank you for watching!
Great job on this one. But i have a question for you all...maybe someone can help me. I instaled hyprland on my desktop and for some reason when i first launch hyprland i don't see my bluetooth option in the top bar....Do i need to download anything extra? Thanks
Hey where can i find the configuration for the bash prompt which you've set. It's not behaving very nice with alacritty so wanted to customize that. thanks
well, unlikely for me it didnt work:(. When i am at the point where it asks if it should start hyperland i say "Y" and then it starts to load something in console and it just asks me for login over and over
Hey bro! is this turtorial still usable ? I have never seen an interface this beautiful. I really want to be able to install a beautiful theme like this.

man... im almost 5 hours here trying to download this shit, I followed the download but when I extract all things to my bootable USB and shut down the computer this shit still continues on windows
I wish I bought an all amd laptop too, wouldn't have needed to deal with nvidia's drivers. Welp, I'll stick with dwm and dual booting for now, but man does your config look amazing.
Hello, thank you much appreciated :) Having all AMD in the Linux world makes things so much easier for sure. I am excited for the Framework 16 and I hope they would offer an all AMD version. I think it would make an excellent Linux workstation. Thanks again for the comment and thank you for watching!
This is really cool. I'm been considering switching to arch on my laptop (ASUS G14), how are your experiences with battery life with this particular setup compared to other distros?
Hello and thank you for the comment. I have not seen an issue with battery life having the 3 power modes by using the utilities from asus-linux.org helps with conserving battery. That project is currently supported on Fedora and Arch so if you're thinking of hoping distro you and have an asus laptop you may want to check it out. Thank you for watching!
Hello, thank you for the comment. I prefer to use yay myself. there are other helpers out there and one to note is paru. The Arch wiki has a list of them all here wiki.archlinux.org/title/AUR_helpers . Thank you for watching!
IDK if it happened to anyone else but my Waybar stopped working, some features just didn't seem to work. I did yay -S waybar-hyprland or got that package and build it and than everything started working flawlessly.

Grub was good with MBR partitioned disks by overriding boot record with its own when you needed a dual-boot setup with another OS. Now it's a useless layer between UEFI boot and GPT partitioned disks. Systemd-boot is more flexible, it creates a new EFI partition and doesn't touch anything already installed by another OS.
would this script be suitable to test out alongside a current install of arch? Im running gnome and would like to try out Hyprland...if I run this script, will that cause any issues? Wonderful tutorial btw🤗🤗
Hello and thank you for the comment. This V1 script would most likely be the safest to run along side a gnome install as it doesn't force instal SDDM, the only issue with V1 is that it doesn't have any Nvidia support so Hyprland may fail to launch if you are using an Nvidia GPU. The other versions of my script do a bit more an do have Nvidia support but they do force SDDM which could conflict with your current login manager if you are on GDM which most gnome installs are. Hope that provides some info to help you make a decision :) Thank you for the kind words and thanks for watching!
nice. good tutorial. just a quick question, why do you have to clone yay into /opt where you can just clone into your home folder, (for initial installation), then after yay installed, the yay directory cloned can be deleted safely deleted. Because if I remember it correctly when aur packages needs to download some updates/packages from aur, it is using ~/.cache. Im just wondering. Nice of you to share your config. gives me and idea how to use keyboard brightness control.
Hello and thank you for the comment. You are 100% correct that you can clone yay to basically anywhere and then delete it after it's installed. I like to use /opt and I keep it around but that the beauty of linux we get to customize and do things our own way :) glad to hear the config is giving you inspiration for managing your own items, enjoy and thank you for watching!

Hi thanks for the tips very usefull, i have a question, i use popos for some times and lutris for gaming, some games work but some don't or work partially, example ghost recon breakpoint, the game launch but no way to play with 3440x1440 resolution and no way to change it because it stuck to 1280x270, i test with multiple runner no way to play the game with hight resolution, i have RTX 3070 and 3440x1440 monitor.
Thank you for the question. Lutris is very nice but it all depends on the script that was used to package the game and how well maintained it is. Most of the games I play on linux are through Steam and proton which works fantastic. I tried the same games through lutris and I was having similar issues to what you described, when I examined the lutris launch script I noticed it was outdated and havent been maintained in a while. You may want to check out the lutris forums for some help. Some very talented people there sometimes would have very impressive fixes.
This is perfect! new sub here 😀. Quick question, does this process work on virtual box as well? I have my arch installed on VM w/ KDE and I want to switch it to hyprland. Is that possible?
