This name is known only by tradition. It is not found in the Bible.
"Since the blessings of God are different," writes St. INNOCENT of KHERSON, "the ministry of this Angel is diverse: through him the blessing of God is sent to every work, to every good life occupation" [1].
The book "Guide to the Writing of Icons" says the following about him: "The Holy Archangel Barachiel, the giver of God's blessings and intercessor, asking for God's blessings to us: he is depicted carrying white roses on his chest on his clothes, as if rewarding by God's command for prayers, labors and moral behavior of people and foreshadowing bliss and endless peace in The Kingdom of Heaven" [2].
These white roses mean the blessing of God. What could be cleaner and more fragrant than white roses, from which rose oil is extracted? Thus, the Lord, through the archangel Barachiel, sends his blessing from the depths of his garment for prayers and labors to people.
Prayer to the Archangel Barachiel
Oh, the great archangel of God, Archangel Barachiel! Standing before the Throne of God and from here bringing God's blessing to the homes of God's faithful servants, ask the Lord God for mercy and blessings on our homes, may the Lord God bless us from Zion and from His Holy Mountain and multiply the abundance of earthly fruits and give us health and salvation and in all good haste, victory and overcoming our enemies And He will keep us for many years, so that we may unanimously praise God the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and ever and forever.
