@@lekaiev Kind of reminds me of Lorgar from 40k, only far less interesting. Lorgar actually speaks to his supposed god and is rejected by Him, in front of his Legion and one of his brothers, far more impactful.

Definitely one of the least compelling turn to darkness ever written. But despite that Archaen is still a cool character.

@@themis467 The thing is that as I watch more of these warhammer lore videos I realize that the "lore" is not really consistent and just throwing cool sounding stuff, like this person can kill an army. Everyone in this lore can kill an army. It just so random it is hard to comprehend. At least 40k throws big numbers that are realistic by galactical standards.

I feel like they had a good backround to work with, so it's very surpising that his sudden turn to evil was so rushed: the material was definetly there to make it more believable or interesting.

Well in a way he wasn’t he used chaos to beat not just all life but chaos as well without life the chaos gods cannot feed on the emotions needed to sustain themselves so in a way Archaon was a true puppeteer

1. Archaons helmet is a part of the armor of Morkar 2. The Crown of Domination is more of a circlet of iron (not to be confused with Malekith's Circlet of Iron) that painfully injected spikes into his skull (very painful when I read the 2nd Archaon book) and he puts it on before he puts on the helmet, the crown aligns with the hole in the helmet for the Eye of Sheerian for even better foresight

in regards of pronounciaiton: the "Th" in Roth would most likely be pronounced "Rot" and the "i" in Schild is more comparable with "e" in english. Basically: Rotshield from a pronounciation PoV (but i in Schild is quicker than the ie in Shield)... I hate trying to explain pronounciation :D

It is sort of an interesting - or maybe actually a really bad - idea that 'fate' or 'destiny' can be a product of Chaos; like the thing that is the opposite of order and predestination, chaos, somehow has to interact with Fate. Or if it’s just a 'gotcha!' trick on the behalf of Chaos, that’d be a strange cop-out

But he was the prime of his order, the most esteemed and most trusted. He was a warrior who's whole life was devoted to constant fight against Ruinous Powers and it's agents... he no doubt had the idea how devious those can be, he had the knowledge of magic, corruption, dark relics and artifacts that can draw a man to madness. I mean... he sure heard of the mages and sorcerers succumbing to dark powers, of great prophecies and poisonous schemes... Right? Or did he forgot? So... now he read a book, and instead of... oh I don't know... asking his friends and wise men of the order: "Hey! there is this dark wicked creepy book we got the last week from OUR MORTAL ENEMIES... and as I'm reading it, I discover it to describe my whole life... is it some scheme? is this some magic? Guys? Can we get someone competent to do research on that? Oh I dunno, maybe it's an enchanted tome which was supposed to deceive me? After all we took it from our MORTAL ENEMIES, guys!" ;) Nope! He just asks Sigmar to: "Explain this shit, cause I don't get that book yo!" and when he does not answer... Archaon ragequits?! This is so weak... Imagine some Instagram stalker writes you a post about your entire life, and you, being confused, quit your job to become a ninja... That scene was no gradual process, no effort to ask questions that any reasonable person would (I don't mean a genius, but just bare basic cog-work in ya' head)... He read a book... he consulted an artifact of dark powers, he knew well to be dangerous and deceiving... and all it took to push him over the edge was "he had a feeling"? I'm sorry but it shows me that either his faith was never really strong, or that scene was just rushed to get on with the story, but sadly, downplaying that arc aaand making Archaon look bit silly :/ Still great episode, mate. :)

Kastner at this point is a trained professional with lifetime of experience fighting the ruinous powers, who knows how dangerous the magic can be, how deceiving the chaos is, how it corrupts and leads people to madness... and nothing? Imagine a Cold War scenario - you are working in intelligence and investigate KGB operatives. Suddenly they send you an envelope with every detail they could get on you, including pictures of your children... knowing well who you are dealing with and knowing their methods, would you rather... oh I don't know :P report this to the higher-ups? Ask your colleagues to investigate the matter and protect your family? Or would you storm out the CIA headquarters, buy the first available plane ticket to Moscow? Okay, what I'm trying to say is that... He's trained professional... It's like qualified bomb defusal guy working in the field for last decade doesn't know what to do with a grenade! The book is an unholy artifact of ruinous powers, known for deceiving, corrupting and braking people into their mindless thralls with use of such exact artifacts! And Kastner (Archaon) is that professional who belongs to the order that deals with this shit on almost everyday basis! :P Come ooon... His not working in a plumber-division of the Sigmarite order, it's not like he took a sick leave the exact day they they had classes on "How to handle dangerous artifacts and creepy dark tomes"... I mean... I can literally make a joke here: "HE HAD ONE JOB!" XD

According to the “time ends” Sigmar couldn’t talk to him at that moment because he was trapped in the Great Vortex by the chaos god of knowledge and trickery. And expected Archaon to stop being babied and think for himself. It would be better if he did more research than just the tome alone before he turned his back on his god

Thing is though, Archaon is not exactly a beacon of purity before he reads the book. He is the product of a forced union between the chaos worshipping norscans and an empire woman. True he tries to save his former colleagues from the abuse of their knight and master but he is prideful and, in a way blinded by his faith in sigmar. He also assumes a false identity for personal gain. Hardly an honorable deed. The way i like to think of it, the presence of Sigmar he always felt growing up was in fact the presence of Tzeentch who, knowing the prophecy of the everchosen would delight in helping to bring it about. I imagine Tzeentch playing on Archaon's pride, whispering in his ear and swelling his ego and then when he needs a sign from his deity most, Tzeentch withdraws from his mind leaving it empty. I always thought of Sigmar as being more of an austere deity anyhow. Remember that in life he was an unflinching warrior (Also vain and prideful) who valued strength above all else. I reckon Sigmar considered him nothing more than another cursed soul. In the old world story line, Sigmar was not the all powerful deity he is in AOS. Most powerful human deity sure, but definitely not infallible.

There's always a possibility that the tome engulfed his heart and mind, blocking any signs from Sigmar or anyone else, leaving only darkness

There are accounts that some of the Everchosens are indeed human like Morkar Asavar Kul though we don't know too much about most of the others. Is it possible? Possibly. Is it probable? Meh i doubt it

Archeon was never good. He only did good things to please someone else, like sigmar. He never cared for others. They were just a means to an end. This is why even religious people IRL tell others to do good things "for goodness's sake". If you need an almighty person to tell you to be good, then you were never good to begin with. Archeon wasn't satisfied with the carrot that Sigmar gave so he chose to follow the better carrot of chaos, since the book convinced him that sigmar was the weaker of the gods and thus provided the lesser reward, which is what he really cared about all along. The entire warhammer series and 40k as well is a giant critique of acting in the name of authority alone. There needs to be a more well grounded motivating philosophy other then just liking a guy a lot(emperor/sigma/god), otherwise you're forced to be motivated by incentives(where chaos wins) or by just sheer logicless volitile emotions(where chaos also wins).
