Archelos Lagoon Mystic card review 

I’m lookin forward to seeing this deck in action if you actually build it :)

I've started building this and there are a few cards I want to share. 1) Squandered Resources 2) Lotus Field/Vale 3) Everglades (there is a blue and green one also These all play off splendid reclamation lines. I have a bunch of other cards that I found that synergize well. Reply if you want to see them/discuss.

Quick question for the loop with lands why not just use mystic sanctuary?

cEDH lands deck tech?

Have you gotten to play with this yet? I'm going to build Archelos and the land combos seem awesome!!

There's one biig land combo I believe you're missing that doesn't require the big mana and land setup of splendid + mirror pool Deserted temple + magosi, the waterveil with the commander is infinite turns for just 4 mana every turn(and your land for turn) High risk, certainly, but without disruptions, it's high reward And, at least, dodges counterspells that can't hit activated abilities, unlike splendid And just needs these two /lands/

I'm going to call this deck 'Turtle Eggs'. Would love to see a second video on this. I think some cards that are good in Gitrog might be a nice fit for this deck as well.

The text formatting (not using the whole name the second time) was a change instituted around Dominaria (I think) to reduce the amount of text they need to use. It mostly applies to legends, because they usually have a proper name and title. WotC ruled that after fully stating the card name once in the text box, further instances could drop the title and still be sufficiently understood as [CARD NAME] and not generically referring to any other versions of the legend that might exist.

Aren't you going to review Hullbreacher? I see it almost as much of a format changer as Opposition guy.

I was looking to see how I could make this viable without going a complete Stax route and didn't think land theme would be viable. Thank you for shedding some light!

The thing with Archelos being condensed is actually a thing with all legendary creatures that mention the cardname more than once, fun fact

Also squander resources seems really good just as a fast mana into the combo

Any thought to including some elements to keep our turtle tapped? Thus you get a stax-y effect out of him. For example I think Earthcraft would be a natural fit (although if so - you might need to add a few basics) or even things like Springleaf Drum.

It's not like you're prohibited from having ThOr/D-Con in this deck as a secondary plan. But I do think it'll be more tier 2 as he does cost 4 and doesn't win on the spot.

do you think going the full stax route might be a viable way to play Archelos in a tier 2 deck? Having one of the disrupting pieces for stasis and the orbs as a commander is quite unique.

Tappy Turtle was definitely the commander that caught my attention the most, but of course Opposition Agent and Hullbreacher stole the show.

A handful of disconnected thoughts for lands strategies that may or may not be useful for the deck: Sylvan Safekeeper, Squandered Resources and Zuran Orb can sacrifice lands whenever necessary with a beneficial effect. Lotus Vale, Lotus Field and Scorched Ruins sacrifice lands as a cost for entering the battlefield and tap for 3-4 mana. Glacial Chasm sacrifices a land and can also be used to disrupt any damage based win condition, e.g. Kiki combo or Finale of Devastation among others. Coral Atoll can tap for 1U then sacrifice itself since it's an actual ETB trigger. Elvish Reclaimer, Scapeshift and Crop Rotation sacrifice lands and tutor for lands. Scapeshift actually seems really fun with Archelos. Not sure about the wording on Rain of Filth. If a land enters after this is cast, could it still be sacrificed or do only lands that are on the board when it resolves get the effect?

What about the karoo lands as part of the loop? They can provide 2 mana, one of which being colourless for mirrorpool and then you can decline to sac an untapped basic and it will destroy itself

I've been looking at a couple of your fun land deck ideas like this and Soul of Windgrace now that we have gotten more Splendid Reclamation effects recently and on the way (Aftermath Analyst + Lumra, Bellow of the Woods). Whilst lands are certainly not a real cEDH archetype, this kind of thing makes me really happy, would love to know if you've played around with more recent brews

how cool is it to shut down Dockside extortionist? basically removing that wincon, would you run free from the reel to be able to tap and tap/untap him at any time you want?

A good infinite mana outlet in these colors are Torment of Hailfire or a labman finish.

Sse vehicles to play him and tap him immediately (which is why I am sad he isn't white)

With the mirror pool loop and strip mine i play you can also strip all your opponents lands

Arch = great, Chelonia = turtles

I personally didn't bat an eye at this card bit now that you showed me what it could do it seems powerful amd budget friendly for the main combo

I love the turtle boy and I look forward to getting one

Why does the first card comes into my mind is Stasis? Pretty hilarious if you can work around it.

Vehicles - mario cart deck

You can play th sultai colored bouncelands in this deck. Probably a lot of exploration effects to make the strip mine/crucible combo better and because its a land deck. You can also use things like nevinyrrals disk if you want.

Please for the love of all things that are turtles make a deck tech on this turtle. I love the idea and can’t wait to see what it becomes. I’m going to start a build for myself but i would love to see what you do with it especially after your valakut deck. One of my favorites to play.

Huh, land shenanigans is a pretty interesting deck tech. Kinda reminds me of the frog considering how the frog also plays with lands

Hi Mons what do you think of adding lands that tap for 2 mana but that normally come in tapped such as Hickory Woodlot?

I think this combo with Duran orb would be really good inside thrasios, vial smasher as well
