Thanks, very kind, watch out for a similar video with my own outboard fitted, should look more realistic and be faster. It will have a 3500 watt motor on 6s, but speed wasn't my goal reliability was the aim, fit and forget up to a point.

I bought the hull , then used 2 pack rattle can to paint it. This gives a very hard and shiny coat. I buy foam sheets from a craft shop to make the seat cushions.

I got fiberglass tube and rod, spent ages winding wire to make the rings, like knitting. The handles on the reels, were baked from polymer clay, easy to do.

You a a 100% motor needs slight trim up and needs trim tabs to keep her from listing ( learning ).

They let me down so often, i took to building my own outboards , much bigger than the TFL. so looks better on the boat

So the prop is at the right depth, but I desperately wanted the cowl higher, out of the water. It now has a 3d printed mid section which has lifted the cowl up 15mm leaving the prop in its sweet spot. The cowl is now white with tohatsu stickers , a photo and full build log is on rc groups under scale boats, sports fishing boat, I will put another video up with the upgraded motor when we come out of lockdown. There is a huge gap in the market for a 1/6th scale outboard with good gears running in oil, which I am hoping a friend is going to fill in the next few months.

@@colincharles8737 I figured it needed to be low after I watched again. Glad you made a longer mid section to get the cowl and motor up away from waterline. Hate to see you ruin the motor being so low.....now about those big Outboards you are mentioning, are you thinking better than the MHZ Outboards? That would be a welcome addition to the RC boat scene. I have 2 MHZ 1/5 outboards on my 53" central marine Skater. I like them so far. Only one run on them! Hope they last. I look forward to seeing your new updated boat video.

My friend has the MHZ, he blew the esc due to too much resistance in the gearbox, he thought could be the oil seals. It is too big for my boats, my latest project is another RIB 1/6 th scale hence the need for a good 1/6 th outboard with plenty of reach. What program would I need to draw cowl stickers ? Yours look great.

3S and a 3blade 47mm cnc prop , but might try 44mm to save high amps draw on the motor.

It's gear drive! I am having broken bearings and worn out gears, so I am considering another outboard one with oil in the gearbox and hopefully stronger gears. This one could go on a Rib I am trying to build, a much lighter model with 2s lipo so lower revs.

@@colincharles8737 I have one with flex drive and it breaks on each run. The last run I did the prop and everything fell in the river

@@dennisleegy i also have flex and its slips if i put the throttle open, only at full gas the prop runs. is that also a commen issue?

@@faabberg yes apparently the coupler screw might be worn out. You may need to change the coupler

What is the best way to affix it

@@nickyborg4729 home made aluminium bracket, with lots of down trim built in, then use the trim on the outboard for levelling up. That way I can add down trim when conditions are rough on the lake, down trim is more useful than uptrim.

Yes gears don't last long even on 3s and bearings disintegrate even quicker. Probably because they are so small which is why i am trying to make my own. It also has a very short reach for most models. Replacement gears are expensive too.

Where can I get replacement parts?
