Don’t get caught up it arrow ballistics best thing you can do is shoot your bow often. Also check your local archery ranges/clubs they hold shoots all the time it’s a great way to get help and info from people who’ve done it for awhile and also connect with that community. Cheers

Since you’re fairly new, set your sights pins in 10 yard increments. 20, 30, 40, 50. Because 20 yard increments is A LOT. At 60+ yards, you’ll start to see flaws in your form. So, you’ll want to shoot closer for awhile too develope and work on your form before stretching out that far. Just a bit of knowledge for ya. Keep at it, brother

Thank you I appreciate that, yea I do plan on staying at 20yards for a while I don’t want to pick up bad habits

My early days like this I didn't have a yard but we did have a public range with a haybale outside of town. Not the best target, but I would get a cheap deck of cards and a few toothpicks/small nails to hang the cards on the hay bale. As far as targets for purchase later on bought a small Rinehart block target instead of the haybale, later after that joined an archery club (so now I shoot all their expensive targets for the cost of buying 1 target per year). Archery clubs may also be willing to sell their used targets, (or even give you real beat up ones you just need to put some foam in) worth asking about! You're well on your way and if you have the energy and interest like you do, youll be ready by season! You definitely can do this on a budget and dont need $$$ gear. I had a cheap 1 pin sight etc and honestly liked my "beginner" gear enough I never upgraded. The buck I harvested didn't know the difference 🤷‍♀️

I don’t know if your sight has a bubble level in the bottom but if it does make sure it’s level to keep the bow from leaning that will improve your accuracy
@whatisarchery
@whatisarchery 7 месяцев назад
It does have a bubble but the guy at bass pro said don’t worry about it when I asked lol thanks for the info I will pay attention to it now

Take an old blanket throw it in a box and shoot the box you get 4 sides to the box and you won’t get pass through either, once your box starts to break down grab another box same blanket and let it have it, cheapest target I have found, you can also use old clothes with no zippers or buttons.

welcome to the wonderful world of archery. this is a amazing hobby that I have come to love myself. you seem to be getting the hang of it so far so keep up the good work. just watching you a couple quick tips that might help you shoot a little more constant. for your grip on your bow loosen it up a bit and basically just hold thw bow with you index and thumb lightly holding on and gentle lay the rest of your fingers on the front of the bow. also slightly lower your front shoulder it will straighten you form some and make it a little more comfortable as you won't be as tense. you keep saying that you are going to get a kisser button but just a heads up you don't need one. I have shot for years and never used one. totally up to you but I have my draw fall to where the d loop rests on the corner of my mouth and comes across my nose. I recommend using a set point that doesn't move so much like the tip of your nose. it will help keep you consistent with your form. you are doing great so far but figured I would pass on my knowledge to help if I can. take it or leave it no worries at all. I am happy you are joining this fun sport.

keep going man..I love to shoot my bow it helps me calm down and relax... beware this rabbit hole can get deep and costly lol get your own tools and a press a bow vice and draw boards some can be done DIY. learning to work on your own bow is awesome and no one will do it as good as you. plus it feels really good when you do it yourself and see the results.. Good luck man God Bless

And as from experience when you get to the point when you’re gonna purchase a target; stay away from the foam targets. They’re okay when you first start shooting at em, but being rated for 25lbs and I shoot 70lbs, my arrows go right through. I’ve learned that the blocks and bags that they hang up are more durable and lasting.
