Having 3 anchor points is great, for example having your knuckle in the indent behind your ear aswell as having your Lip and Nose touch the string in the same place every shot helps a lot. Once you get the anchor point dialed in, you want to be able to anchor with your eyes closed and then when you open your eyes the peep and front sight is already aligned.
Sweet! You’re gaining on it. Not a bad group at 30 at all. If you can shoot well with both eyes open it’s a plus especially in the woods when hunting. I know a lot of archers than shoot with their non-dominant eye every well. 66#’s is plenty. This will kill anything in the states easily. You are doing it right taking your time and figuring things out. Just try to work on one thing at a time. Like getting your footing right before the shot. Or messing with your anchor point. Maybe refining how you activate the release. Or learning to use your back muscles to pull through the shot instead of moving the trigger finger? Small but important details. 👍👍
Heck Yeah range finders are key. You're Looking better and better every time. Just upped my poundage today as well. I keep both eyes open. Do you breathe out upon release? that's helped me these past few days.
Joel Turner of “ Shot IQ” talks about breathing when shooting and he is right on. When you breathe normally and relax, it helps your shot process and release. Helps fend off torque. So many people hold their breath -can lead to rushing your shot because you want to get to the exhale and you end up disrupting your shot. Keep learning and shooting!
If you're left eye dominant shooting right handed you'll want to close your left eye otherwise the angle of which you'll be looking through your peep will not be centered throwing off your accuracy, especially at longer distances. You might need to adjust your peep but you might consider learning to shoot a left handed bow so you can shoot with both eyes open which is definitely a benefit for staying relaxed throughout your shot process. Either way you should be be fine for most hunting applications 30 yards and in. Keep it coming man, great content!
I’ve always shot with both eyes open and focusing on the target, look through your sight. The sight is a guide. As long as you have your anchors down and are consistent, wherever you’re looking at or focusing on on the target you will hit. Your body kind of adjust to what the eyes are looking at.
Buy a cheap metal detector to locate arrows that get caught under the surface of the grass/ground that you can’t see with the naked eye. The metal detector will locate the field point…..
Getting the trigger deep helps with pulling through and slowly squeezing not punching. Good move. If you’re not already a member join archery talk there’s tons of info there. Look up nuts and bolts of archery. For now look into the form section but when you’re ready there’s a whole tuning section. I can see a bow press in your future you’re hooked hard. Remeber also activate your back muscles when holding keep shoulders down
Ive learned over the last month that when you stretch it out, the imperfections in your shot definitely show. The slightedt change in angle can affect elevation or windage. Thats why as i too have watched ither youtube videos and talking to my local archery pro shop guy. Develop a routine to your shot. That way it is repeatable and easily adjusted .
With your left eye being dominant it’s gonna be hard to shoot a right handed bow with both eyes open. My younger son starred shooting right handed then we discovered he was left eye dominant so I got him a cheap bow to see if he liked shooting lefty. Well now he’s shooting lefty and killed his first deer last season. I know it’s expensive but trying a lefty now might be worth it. As shooting with bow eyes open is beneficial
need to go to the shop and have them put some twists in the cables and it will be fine one full twist in each one will be about a pound. I would also say most handhelds read a little light 1-3 pounds. your gonna need to redo your pins your gonna be high with that extra poundage.. good job man God Bless yes shoot with both eyes open if you can it will become second nature plus better site picture more light etc.. then just shoot what feels best
Old school is to shoot one eye closed. I still do that and group better. People say both eyes open. However if you watch some pros with two eyes open they sometimes will cover the other eye to help with clarity (peep size can also play into it). Shoot what feels right with it and always do it the same way. As for non dominant eyes you more then likely will want to shoot one eye or switch to left handed. Being left handed left eye it can be harder to find equipment or less options overall easy without ordering. Asking for advice is like asking people what direction should the tp roll go on the wall.
Im right there with ya, im left eye dominant but right handed. If you keep both eyes open while shooting right handed, itll be very hard for you to look through the peep sight with your right eye, therefore id strongly suggest closing your left eye
Your doing very well for using non dominant eye. You may have an easier time and shoot better than you are with a left handed bow. To those saying he should should both eyes open, do you think it could make it hard for him to shoot accurately since his dominant eye might want to take over and not his right eye be the main?
Like your enthusiasm. I got allnexcited to have my bow sightef in at 40yards and in. I only use 3 pins of a 5pin sight. Definitely agree about allen keys being so useful. Especially since im sighting in my new bow
Whenever you go to change the poundage on your bow, make sure to use a silver sharpie and mark your limb bolts prior to changing the poundage. Also make sure you're turning the bolts a full 360° until the marks line up.
