E.P. Stone I own a few of the UAD amps (Fuchs Overdrive Supreme, Fender Deluxe, both Engl, the Marshall Plexi and JMP) and I own NeuralDSP's Plini - and Plini beats all UAD emulations in sound and feel for me. Really love their plugins, NeuralDSP is No.1 in my book EDIT: I should add I like to play mostly clean and crunch, but I think NeuralDSP beats the Brainworx/UAD offerings in all departments (clean, crunch, overdriven etc)
E.P. Stone I’d definitely say that Neural DSP amps have an edge over the UAD/Brainworx stuff. I have the Friedman DS 40 and the BE 100 and they are very good, however I find it way easier on the Neural stuff to dial in a great tone. Also, the effects on the Neural plugs are way better than anything Brainworx have to offer. Finally and most importantly the Neural stuff to my ears sound more like a real amp. By this I mean I was blown away by the quality. That said the Brainworx amps are very good. Also, Plugin Alliance heavily discount Brainworx amps every so often so I picked up four amps for about $60 with the discounts and coupons. I kinds wish Neural would offer a slightly better discount as an introductory price but their plugins are generally only discounted by max $20.
although i dont disagree i feel the route they have taken of simply bringing various artist/equipment from different genres is good also. like nollys set was epic. they do need some diversity to expand their fan base though, so cory wong was great addition. im excited to continue to follow their progress to say the least.
Definitely. I have plini, nolly, and the dark glass one. They blow everything else out of the water. They sound better than my actual tube amps when it comes to recording. If I could load all these into a speaker and patch em into a stomp box it would be perfect for jamming too.
It’s crazy, I don’t play the guitar, but between Pete’s channel here and the great videos on Andertons Music I’ve fallen in love with it and will start getting lessons.
Such a fun review! These sounds are brilliant and the interface has a great layout. I’m so glad this was designed for players that prefer to play with a clean tone as the base. Its definitely not easy to replicate a clean tube amp and I think they totally nailed it.
My favorite thing about Cory's sound is that he doesn't spend so much time sculpting a sound because it mostly comes from his playing. Clean amp, compressor with blend, filter, maybe a little drive and a wah, all of that helps him do some quirky stuff, but it's all in his knowledge and playing style.
in fact, his sound isn't that great at all.... simple, on the thin side. And that' show it blends well in the mix and poxes through! the bigger, fatter, prettier the sounds get, the harder they mix. They are cool for checking presets and on their own, but o a record ...That's why Nile Rogers (a grand master compared to Cory Wong, who worships him) Goerings straight into the board most of the time...
Holy moly those clean tones are awesomeness! Pete, I can see your musicians mind getting sucked into the tonal time vortex every time we get a new piece of gear that sounds this good! Minutes turn into hours of tinkering. You sound great as always!
Picked this plug in up a couple weeks ago. It’s amazing and a really great value. Not cheap but worth every penny. It’s better to buy 1 plug in and love it than buy 5 for the same price and not love any of them. Quality over quantity
Sounds great Pete. I have been having heaps of fun with the Fortin NTS suite from Neural and will work my way through the trails until I decide on a clean suite and a high gain suite that I prefer. Or I could get the Archetype Nolly and have the lot. Good to see the bass in the background too brother.
Great PI and equally great playing! CW PI is my Fav. followed by Plini. Neural DSP for the win! Their Quad Cortex floor modeler also holds a lot of promise- you should do a video on that. Wish it came with all the PI pre-loaded but it does not- maybe someday you can load them in if you own them. Still it likely has great tones out of the box.
Hello Pete, hope all is well with you! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this plugin, did a review of it a few weeks ago and Cory Wong even left a comment! Hope to see you at NAMM again one day!
Jealous of your studio dude. Great demo as well man. I've got no clue about plug ins but with you, rabea, Tom Quayle and Jack Gardiner demoing this one it's hard not to be impressed.
I just spent 45 minutes trying the plugin and dialing the best edge of breakup sound I could, then compared it to my old tubeman 1 tube preamp with a good IR. Blows the plugin out of the water easily for realism and quality. I still think the plugin sounds very good, but nowhere near a tube preamp. They are not so expensive and great for recording. Of course the plugin includes great time effects that I do not own.
Really exciting precedent set by this plug in, anything could be next now! My crystal ball is telling me some kind of standalone amp sim, and then Archetype Chon? Or Polyphia? Or Yvette?
I think Neural doesn't put loopers in those because it's a plugin most people will use in their DAW of preference. You would record anyway so the looper would be redundant
I tried the Abasi one and a few others and have to say I really liked it, worth the trial, i can dial just as good tones with what i currently have honestly but the cab sims are definitely up a notch from anything ive tried, and the delay and reverb on the abasi on was really nice, would be worth it just for that. The fortin cali one worked really nice out of the box with my guitar i almost bought it, but then realized it didnt have the delay and reverb from the abasi one so i passed. Definitely will be trying this one out, thanks for the heads up.
Peter - wondering what your interface and guitar output volumes are at? I'm running my guitar > UA Arrow > DAW + Cory Wong plugin, and there's just a heap of unwanted noise 😅 please help!!
So how do you get it to sound so good? I got a Audient id4 and a MacBook Pro and the Cory Wong plug in. It still sounds DI?! But when you and the Rabea demo it it sounds so realistic? What am I doing wrong with the Wong (Pun intended) ;) Tried it with my CS Strat and Tele but that nasty artifacts from the di is there.
Big fan of Pete.... It's just Pete like anyone else who's named Pete...not "Danish Pete" like Lee Anderton calls him. But I guess the merch is gotta sell so Danish Pete it is !!! Great musician and all round nice guy. T Shirts are a bit pricey but I will subscribe and like
Hi Pete. I just got this plugin, was looking for demo's on RU-vid and I eneded up here. Glad I did too! Can I ask what sort of Tele you have? It sounds amazing on this (not taking anything away from your playing btw!)
Nice to have you here. It’s a custom shop Fender, 1952, it was made for Frankfurt Messe 2014 I think. Andertons sells copies of it, here’s a link www.andertons.co.uk/fender-custom-shop-52-tele-large-c-neck-maple-board-purple-metallic-heavy-relic
I can't hear 16K anymore, either. I think, in my case, the main culprit was always hanging out by the bass bins at a plethora of weird London clubs, back when they were worth going to.
@@levondarratt787 I've done a few tests with my signal gen and a scope, so I can see what the speakers are outputting, and I don't hear a thing past the low 16KHz range. The levels stay the same but as it gets higher it gets more and more quiet until I can't hear a sound at all.
Hi pete just thought of a good video for andertons. How about a gear of the year video were you both pick the best gear in different price points and see
Pete, just shut up!! Your demo is excellent, but your playing is ridiculously wonderful. VERY INSPIRING, lad! I need a Pete T-shirt. Thank you so very much for every note you play. I guess I will now shut up and practice.
I dont own any of those 2 but i saw lot of people on the neural dsp facebook user page say they sold axe fx or kemper going full ndsp. Its easy and sound huge
Cory Wangs plugin is clean and straight like his playing, he reminds me of a guitar teacher. Well, funk for me needs more dirt (Sly Stone, Parliament Funkadelic, Prince). But Cory and plugin is good, especially for Strats it is hard to find a good plugin. If it was not so heavy on cpu with an appropriate price, I would think about buying it. For 100 bucks you get tons of fx and amps from other developers. You need iLok btw, a no go in 2020!
