Solentiname Archipelago, the Paradise of Ernesto Cardenal
On the great Lake Cocibolca or Lake Nicaragua lies Granada, once the residence of Rubén Darío, and the Solentiname Archipelago. The poet Ernesto Cardenal here founded a community of poets, painters, and carvers. Today, it is a mythical paradise for its natural beauty, the poetic grandeur of Cardenal, and its significant relevance in Liberation Theology, but also for the extraordinary beauty of the naïve painting and sculpture that he helped to flourish among its modest inhabitants.
