Ragnarok had pretty graphics and a good story, but if you think theyd win on art direction youre out of your mind. Sure it was accurate to Norse mythology, but in doing so it makes the style pretty.. generic and familiar. Miyazakis style is more creative and takes more liberties, it takes a lot more risks i think. Whereas God of War just has to follow Norse designs.

7:43 That is Gransax, son of the dragonlord Placidusax. He is physically the largest dragon model in the game, Greyoll of the Dragonbarrow is the largest, living, dragon. He is an ancient dragon from Farum Azula, and his attack on Leyndell signaled the start of the war against the dragons. It is historically the only time the walls of Leyndell had fallen, and even after they defeated him they had to rebuild everything around his corpse because he was simply too large to be removed.

Look, I'm an architect, we tend to be a bland bunch😂but I see fantasy in video games as an exploration outside of our world. As soon as you start saying "well that's far to long" or "that doesn't make sense" yes, it may not make sense for our world, our history however, a game like elden ring - isn't our world, you must be open minded as a current relevant architect to the idea that that area/level was designed to emerse a player in a very different world than ours. It has to be engaging and interesting. It has to create an atmosphere and dictate how one views that world, how you engage in a space, and so on. To say well that's trash and laugh at it is to be incredibly disrespectful to the design team behind that world. They are irresponsible architects by all measures of the word, from a young architect to a set of experienced... architects.

In fact she managed to guess one of Elden Ring's main themes that 99% of the players haven't even considered. The huge parallels between the Elden Ring world and the Roman conquest of Europe, and the change from Paganism to Christianity. It's a major theme of Elden Ring if you really dig deep into the lore and know your history(Golden Order/ErdTree vs The Crucible/Primodial Tree) etc.

Fun fact: Every civilisation has a distinct style in Elden Ring made to reflect our own ancient civilisations, theyre each there to tell a story of those that have come to pass and those that come to replace. Its honestly amazing and one of the reasons the game is so immersive.

ok video :P would be more interested in what achaeologists have to say. there are bigger points to make about different epoches referenced through architecture and how it relates to our world and history.

I think it's fun they talk about how tall fantasy bridges are, as if there weren't crazy tall old bridges. Puente de Ronda in ny country is from the 18th cent and it's 98m tall

I really love these types of videos that bring experts in to react. It's also cute to hear them surmise about the plot. Sweet summer souls... they have no idea how dark FromSoft's writers are.

The Egyptian obelisk represents ancient Egyptian history and the flaming obelisk in hallowhorn grounds connects us to an ancient spirit... I'm blown away once again... Like nothing is there in this game for the purpose of being random... anything connected to the lore has a meaningful existence on its own... you know what , time to play the hell outta this game once more.....❤❤

Dude this video gave me an epiphany about the lore of this game. The comment about it looking like it’s underwater sparked my intrigue and reminded that especially bosses like Elden Beast are capable of moving through 3D space as if they were swimming. Also it seems that to arrive in the Lands Between you have to arrive by Ship. But this ships appear to be made of 100% stone. Which makes me think they are meant to sink. Perhaps meant to carry people to Limbo/The Lands Between. I’ve always had the idea that Elden Ring takes some inspiration from Samssaric tradition. Especially the notion of an afterlife with many sublayers. I think the Lands Between perhaps are exactly like an Aquarium for souls; searching for their respective afterlives. It may also serve as a dimension where entities like Outer Gods and The Greater Will can actually influence reality whereas for some reason they don’t seem to pay attention to places that are “outside of the Lands Between.” As far as we know anyhow. Sorry for the massive semi-unrelated comment. I just find it funny how an innocuous comment from someone that probably isn’t into this game’s lore could feel so apt.

Idk what some people were expecting. Obviously architects are gonna talk about architecture in the game and not the gameplay. Why would an expert react to something that has nothing to do with their field of expertise?
